Junto is the ideal coffee shop, no joke. My husband and I have come here the past two Sunday afternoons to work on school, and we've decided to make it a tradition! All the staff here are so welcoming and kind, even remembering us just our second time visiting. The atmosphere is open and airy, and the menu is perfectly sparse. Everything is so clean and minimal, and the plants decorating the building contrast nicely with the industrial look of the space. Their coffee is wonderful, and the specials are always delicious. 1. Served a moldy pastry (one of the girls working there refunded it and gave me a free drink, but it still should NOT have been served! I ate some of it before I saw the large spots of black mold inside under the crust!!) 2. One of the male workers there was quite rude: I waited at the counter forever (even my husband sitting on one of the couches farther away noticed, and he doesn't notice that sort of stuff normally) and the guy wouldn't come to the register until one of the other workers told him to. I know he saw me, and I was watching what he was doing and they weren't busy enough to justify me standing there waiting for him to deign to notice me. (At this point there were like 5 other people in the cafe, and all of them had their drinks already.) When I ordered another drink to go, he made a face when the other girl told him to make one of them free. I would've had to pay for it if she hadn't noticed and remembered that she gave me one because of the moldy pastry. My husband came and stood by me so the guy would be nicer as well, which kind of worked because the attitude faded a little. Hm, wonder why that would be. Also, I left some promotional bookmarks there (the other girls in the cafe said it was fine that I left them for people to take, and one seemed excited about it) and he saw the need to make a disparaging remark about them to me before scooping them up and taking them to the trash. I wouldn't have left them at all for people to just throw away, but he made a point of doing it in front of me and then laughing about it. The drink he made for me also tasted a little weird. Not sure why he felt the need to behave this way, but it was quite uncomfortable and I don't think I'll be back no matter how good their coffee normally is. I'm not normally the type to complain, and I generally don't review. People have served me burned espresso or undercooked food and stuff before, and I don't say anything. I generally don't even care unless it's obviously bad food, like moldy. But that guy was really, really rude and I don't go to coffee shops for that sort of experience. read more
