My supposed to be teeth cleaning feels like I just brushed my teeth, hygienist said I will have my deep cleaning anyway. They rescheduled my husband's appointment three times! So, we just chose not to go back. That was February... on November 2020, we received a bill! I called the office asking why we got billed, we have insurances. The person I spoke to, told me that they misplaced our insurance information and so I gave the information again. Yesterday, December 26, 2020, here comes the bill again?! Aren't they suppose to verify if the insurance we presented will cover whatever procedure they plan on doing? And the procedure they ever done was just xray, the basics. And cleaning. So... after my husband's terrible crown experience and my own less than stellar experiences, I left Dr. Jupina. I canceled the appointment I had set for Feb 2020, and received a text message reminding me of the appointment. Not wanting to incur a no show fee, I called their office and confirmed that the appointment was cancelled. I received ANOTHER text message. And an email. I called again, reconfirmed that it was, indeed, cancelled. Unsubscribed from emails and text messages. I thought that was the end of it. October 2020, I received a past due bill for over $800. What? I pay for services when they're received, and I haven't been a patient since 2019! I spoke to Adam who said "our staff has been making mistakes and not putting things in the computer correctly. Go ahead and disregard it." That's reassuring... So today, I receive another past due bill in the same amount as the October bill. I halfway hope this is some weird phishing scheme. I mean... her computer system can't be this messed up, right? In my opinion you should stay away from this dentist. Quality of care went downhill, coordination of care too. The worst dental care I've had in my life. I had been seen in this office regularly with inconsistent care but the last year takes the cake. I had work started a year ago - 2 crowns and a filling. I had severe pain with one of the crowns that they wanted me to "wait and see" about for months. The COVID hits and I hear nothing, despite calling monthly. In October, I finally got through and they said they had been seeing people since August. I have a temporary crown, a permanent crown with temporary cement, a cracked filling they never fixed, and I haven't eaten on my left side in A YEAR. Why didn't they call their in progress patients? My new dentist says that cracked filling now requires a root canal when they could have taken care of it easily last year. My husband is also in the middle of clear braces...completely back to the start now because they never contacted him during or after COVID. We paid $4k up front for that. STAY FAR AWAY. read more

Alright. It's been a while since I had my apt however I felt like it was necessary to tell my experience. I had a big hole in my tooth which needed a root canal. I went to some "Costco" type dentist and was going to take over 1 month to get it done and I was in some serious pain. I found this place on yelp and it's like .5 mi away from my house so I thought I'd try it. Nice pretty office. Clean. Etc. - 5 stars Staff - 1 star and here's why: 1. I walked in and the little prissy male behind the counter I think his name was Adam just handed me a clipboard and didn't even make eye contact and told me to fill it out. He was too busy chopping it up with later I discover is the finance chick. 2. Dr J not only was unprofessional as hell but she was eating a god damn POPPY SEED bagel while giving me my consult! Fucking gross. Her breath was real nice. UGH! She even made a joke about her eating it like "oh yeah sorry caught me in the middle of my breakfast" like bitch are you serious. Pricing - I'd give 0 stars if I could So after dr j literally does nothing but LOOK inside my mouth and says "yup you need a root canal" (like no shit Sherlock I didn't need to go to dental school to know that) she sends in this pretty Latina girl (who was distracting my little friend up at the front desk). She gives me a $5,000 something # of cost for this root canal that didn't even include the crown. I told her to explain in detail and she just simply couldn't give me a straight breakdown of why is was going to be in the area of $5,000. She just had pencil written numbers on a green piece of paper. No itemized list. So I politely declined the service. Then let me tell you about the fat dude behind the counter in the front. He comes into the room after the finance lady comes in and he asks me if I want to apply for "care credit" I am fully aware of the program and finance options but since I am fixing my credit and applying for homes I do not want hard inquiries on my credit. He just shrugged his shoulders and scoffed and walked out and said "well we tried" I couldn't get out fast enough. Basically they did nothing and now I have a $200 bill from her office. Dr. Jupina showed me nothing but respect and hospitality. However, her working staff had coerced me into doing liners for my teeth that I NEVER agreed to. I remained professional on the phone call until the staff worker started putting words in my mouth saying I verbally agreed to the treatment. They had billed me $6000 for being INTERESTED in the treatment. Last time I checked, interested in treatment does not mean AGREEING to treatment. Especially since there was no signature or papers involved. That's weird, sus, and unprofessional as hell. Don't play with people's money. I asked the staff member to let me speak to Dr. Jupina about this matter, and she wouldn't allow it. She's guilty as hell, she knows she messed up and didn't want to get in trouble for it. Things are good until they are not. Had what I thought were minor issues from the beginning. Doing unauthorized work then saying oh don't worry about paying. When I would catch it. For example fixing a cavity and the dentist would randomly in my mind work on different tooth. Then when finished they would give a different total. Then once disputing the charges they would say don't worry about it. Staff changes regularly except for for one dental tech. Or referring a friend they go once and then don't go anymore. Dr. Jupina provided 4 veneers on my top front teeth about 11-12 years ago. The process required at least 8-10 visits because they kept falling off, even after many trips I personally took to one of the labs she used, where I was asked to coordinate directly with the creepy lab tech. Finally, she used a lab that provided (hideous) veneers that finally stuck. In hind sight, I was overly flexible because I met the Dr. in a social capacity and wished her no harm. But she harmed me. She was aware of the extended bungle and at our final appointment, she required me to sign a half-assed legal document drafted by her attorney husband before she would "repair" her work. I am confident she knows that her shoddy work would not hold up to a peer review and the document was to intimidate me. One of the front veneers had blood showing through when I left, indicating a leak and there's no way she didn't know. Fast forward: veneers have been removed. All four had to be replaced with crowns due to Dr. Jupina's incompetence and my teeth finally look and feel great. Doctor, I gave you to opportunity to fix your mistakes, but it looks like you choose to continue to provide unprofessional and substandard services. read more

Horrible! I haven't been to this dentist in maybe a year or so. I was told at the last time I went, no outstanding bills. I paid for and after each service! Fast forward to present day and I receive a bill of over $400. I have called, emailed and left voicemails to inquire this bill and each time, I do not receive a call/ response or if I do get someone on the phone, they say their system is down (after looking me up?) and that they'll call back but still nothing. If there is truly something I need to pay for, fine, I don't mind paying for a SERVICE that they must have screwed up on regards to billing since their system is always "down". But the bill is constantly being added up as time goes by and no one is responding to me. It's like they want the balance to keep being forwarded and added up. It's insane! Why is the system always "down" when I call about the bill but they can send me birthday emails? What's ridiculous is that I have read reviews of other people with similar situations previously but now the reviews are gone. Wonder how and why? read more

Our family has been going to Dr. Jupina for about 15 years. My personal experiences are very positive for my visits. I remember having gone to a place prior to Jupina that had made me cringe whenever I went. Having Jupina as my dentist was a godsend. Recently, Thuy (who was new for me at Jupina) made a cap prior to me getting a crown. She made a perfect cap and perfect molding for my crown a week later! I waited a month to get my crown and it fit somewhat snug and Dr. Jupina "sanded" it down for a perfect fit! I'm such a baby as it is so I'm always reticent to chew on the right side (my crown is upper right molar thingy) but I'm starting to do it and the sensitivity is going away the more I chew. This place has gone COMPLETELY DOWN HILL. I've been coming here for YEARS,the new staff they have are unprofessional, rude, extremely UNHELPFUL. They take forever to even come in the room just to even look at your teeth, and I'm talking 20 min waits. I have been improperly scheduled 3 TIMES in the last year, they have started changing all of their procedures without so much as a heads up to their patients who have been coming in FOR YEARS. I'm going to agree with Anna E., not because she wrote a thorough review, but because I'm currently going through the same issue she went through. Unfortunately, I went to this office to get a routine check up when they realized I needed a root canal. No big deal. Get it done and get me going; however, it wasn't as easy as that. Apparently, they adhere strictly to the "office hours" posted. I made the 3 different appointments to get one procedure done. Yes, 3. Now I'm a patient patient ha, but it was getting ridiculous when I had to go back twice to get my crown refitted. I called back and said, "Hey this is bothering me" and the front office clerk said it was part of getting a crown put in and that the pain would eventually go away. Well guess what? It never went away. To top it all off, I had to go to another dentist and shell out more money to fix this dentist's mistake because she was supposed to take out the wisdom tooth next to the tooth with the crown on it, instead of trying to fit a large crown into a cramped spot. I just arrived from my new dentist's office and their staff was appalled that Dr. Jupina's staff would even call that a crown. When the hygienist took the x-ray, she asked, "What is that?! It looks bulky!" I saw the pictures (then took the picture which I have attached here), there was cement on my gums and the crown was never put in properly. It basically looked like someone chewed a piece of gum, balled it up and then decided to pass it off as a crown. No thank you. I don't care if you paid 1-800-DENTIST to get a listing on their site or if you have a friendly staff. If you are sending out patients with shoddy work, you should not be in business!! It took less than 4 hours at this new office (same procedure as they had to correct Jupina's mistake), to put in a temporary crown THAT FITS!! Please do not go here. I forked over money to get some work done here expecting that everything would be okay since the staff is nice and attentive; however, now I'm having to pay another dentist to fix their screw up. The staff here was warm and the doctor was so sweet! My dental hygienist was amazing and detailed. Checking in was easy. Insurance part was no hassle. I only waited 5 minutes. I would just say, please get a new x-ray machine, that thing was scary. ended up getting the regular cleaning done as opposed to deep cleaning given the fact my insurance is only good for 6 more days (deep cleaning would have required two visits) as my company just laid me off (damn cost cutting measures :-x) anyways, so glad i discovered Jupina. Friendly staff who definitely make you feel right at home. They even gave me this white polishing and now my teeth look super white. I must do this review because being a patient of this dentist has cost me lots $$$. Sadly, Dentist Jupina is very nice and great to talk to but, her dentistry skills are the worst! I had three root canals + crowns put in my mouth by this dentist and all three broke within three months. Since my dental insurance covered a portion on my crowns, the office was nice enough to let me make payment on the balances(sarcastic). When I informed the gal who was at the front desk about my crowns breaking, she told me that three months had gone by and that the dentist was unable to do anything about it since time had passed. THREE MONTHS!! I was upset because I was making payments on crowns that were in my month and broken. Finally, I went to a new dentist who told me that the crowns in my mouth didn't fit properly because they were too big for that specific area in my mouth and the shapes of the crown were too high and bound to break against my upper/lower teeth when chewing. So here I go again-getting new crowns from my new dentist and paying cash on them. All three!!! With so many dentist in the bay area, please find another one! 07/24/2013-UPDATE-I went to see another dentist when I was informed that all the root canals (3) performed by dentist Jupina-were infected. Basically the root canals were all done improperly and needed to be retreated. Since all my crowns were broken and cracked, I needed to have all the work re-done. I had two of my root canals retreated within a couple of years with an Endodontist which cost me a lot of money. The retreatment of each tooth required two visits. Then I had two new crowns put in. When I finally went back to get the third root canal retreated, the endodontist informed me that the tooth could not be retreated and needed to be pulled out. My options were: Bridge or implant. I had the tooth pulled in 06/2013. The pulling of a tooth required sedation and after treatment of the area. I and need to go back to get the second part and third part of this process. Finally will be complete with my implant in Feb of 2014. So with all this being said and done on my behalf and my pocket. I advise all and anyone who is considering making Jupina a family dentist to strongly reconsider. I have for years continuously suffered from the work once completed by dentist Jupina. I lost money, time, and a tooth. Please review the other comments on this dentist. read more

This dentist is the worst I have ever been to. I should have know when I saw those big, white teeth grinning at me that I was going to be taken through the cleaners. When I came in she immediately told me that I need a new bridge, but the bridge kept coming out. She replaced it and it still gave me problems, I had to go to another dentist, have gum surgery in order to fix her mess. Sorry! But I came into this office with bad dental memories and previous experiences (even nightmares caused from across the hall from this same office). So they didn't start with a fair perspective. This should yield some valuable information as I am probably the most delicate situation/client they could have, in the sense that I've studied body languange, very sensative emotionally, great at reading people, havea BS in Psychology.. and I think that dentists just want our money. (Of course they do, it's a business but I want great teeth so I accept this dynamic.) But there's a line where "just business" infringes onto the boundaries of inconsiderate, insensitive, or impersonal. The office staff are increidble! Really wish I knew them as friends in my personal life! They're friendly, bubbly, positive and personal! They at least appear excited to see you, they greet you.. practically do every exceot offer water and rub your shoulders lol. But Joan is very confident. Confidence is gained through being familiar with your craft. Getting familiar requires routine and although she smiles at you, asks how you are, the desire for the value of your response is non existant unless you mention something about teeth. (Of course.. She's a dentist.) It's easy to feel like a piece of her routine. It could get exhausting to poor 100% concern into every interaction, I really do understand. Bottom line is that my questions never go unanswered. She won't lie and she will work with you when it comes to your need to understand all things teeth. Finally, Joan may have rushed a filling and so my tooth/filling pains occasionally. The last thing I ever want is to go back in to have the filling taken out, have a new filling put back in (this did happen) or worse, a root canal or tooth extraction... just because I think Joan went too hard too fast, to save time. I could have spoken up in the moment, as I smelled the drill heating up as it chipped away my tooth. (Painless numbing technique, I have to ad. Very satisfied here.) I didn't speak up because I wanted it to be over and I assumed that she knew what she was doing. Maybe she did. Maybe my cavity was so deep that the tooth needed to be removed completely but she opted for a filling to hopefully save the tooth. I went into the dentist to get my teeth fixed and it feels like, in order for that to happen they need more effort on my part than I was expecting to give. I'd like to request some sort of variety on the t.v. in the waiting room aside from the ad thats been there for over a year, and a fragrance that hides the laughing gas smell.. (part of the cause for my anxiety, triggers, trauma etc.) which is present the moment you open the glass doors to the main entrance of the building. I'm not crazy, the office needs ventilation or an air freshener.. put one of those gas tubes to your nose and decide for yourself that the building is drenched in it. I have been a longtime patient of Dr. Jupina's and I have a high appreciation for the service she and the entire staff provide. They have always handled my dental needs in a professional and caring way. From cavities, root canals, crowns and even cosmetic veneers I've always been pleased with the work I have had done over the years. I recently started taking my 4 year old daughter in for regular checkups as well and everyone in the office was extremely friendly and patient with her. Yes run!!!! Where to begin.... Oh how about the quote I was given and once the work was finished I was charged $350 more than my original quote. Or the that when I was getting a root canal I was in horrible pain and when I told Dr Jupina I could feel it she responded "yea your going to feel a little pain" unfortunately this isn't my first root canal and no I'm shouldn't feel a damn thing!!!! Not to mention the equipment looked like it was from the 70's. I was so uncertain about my crown I went to my old dentist who was an hour away after he inspected it he suggested I demand a new crown and a new mold made for the crown. The second crown was no better than the first and I am now thinking of paying out of pocket to get a comfortable properly fitted crown elsewhere. Don't go here it will be a nightmare read more

Dr. Joan identified this in me on my 1st visit & told me to go home & come back on another day. Long story short...I've been with her aprx 20 yrs. I actually will call if I have any dental issues & for many years would NEVER have done that. She is THE BEST!! She surrounds herself with an excellent staff as well. Friendly, curtious, informative, helpful & fun people who care for me as if I'm part of their family. I have a daughter with special needs & she loves going to Dr. Joan's office. They are so patient & kind to her & my entire family. I have read some of the other reviews. I am sorry that anybody has had a negative experience with Dr. Joan or her staff...but let's face it...we all have off days at work. I normally go to another dentist that I love and have been with for a long time, but I hate dealing with the traffic and trekking out to Concord to see them. My co worker suggested Dr. Jupina to me when one of my porcelain lumineers cracked since my current dentist is not certified in Lumineers and I was able to make an appointment the next day! It took about 3 weeks for the actual replacement to come in but she replaced my broken lumineer with expertise and I hardly had to pay anything! :) read more

I received the royal treatment today. I went with my two daughters to Dr. Jupina's office and they took impeccable care of all of us. The hygienist was down to earth, firm and knowledgeable about the benefits of flossing. She gave information in quick nuggets for me to digest and she dimmed the lights for me to relax before the dentist came in. If you would like the best customer service, with a kind dental staff, who is knowledgeable and can explain things in plain terms then give Dr. Jupina's Denistry a try.
