i stopped going to the dentist for a bit because my dental insurance expired and ive been caught up with work. also, paying out of pocket can get expensive. i needed a filling done asap & i just did a quick search on google for a dentist that is fairly priced and can take me in asap. i came across fab dental and read all the reviews, the good and the bad. there were some reviews that made me worried and hesitant but i didn't know where else to go. so i took the chance and was able to book an appt pretty quickly! the man i was speaking to on the phone was nice and explained things pretty thoroughly. there is a $25 consultation fee i believe, that you have to pay to book an appt. this place has lots of parking & the place is clean and provides cold bottled water which was convenient. all the staff were nice and helpful. they got my filling done pretty quickly and i believe they did a great job! they also offer financing which was very helpful! i'd recommend going here if you're looking for a new dentist! i felt safe and comfortable :) read more

2 stars - Poor communication about bone loss and questionable treatment priorities, despite some extractions taken care of. Given this experience and how quickly this newer office accumulated 1000+ glowing Google reviews compared to established practices in the area, I question whether they all reflect real patient experiences. It's hard to believe such a high number wasn't at least partially boosted by fake reviews or bots. During my initial visit, the dentist never mentioned the significant bone loss clearly visible on my X-rays and confirmed by AI analysis. I only learned about it later when the hygienist casually brought it up during a routine cleaning. It was only since the hygienist shared the bone loss with me -- and not the dentist -- that I began losing trust in the practice. I appreciated that they promptly extracted a molar that was bothering me and a broken wisdom tooth. However, the treatment plan placed scaling and root planing (the standard deep cleaning for periodontitis) on the back burner while prioritizing extractions, bone grafts, root canal on tooth #9, and a crown. When I questioned the bone loss, I was told "it's not that bad" and that my "roots are long." Long roots may offer some benefit, but they do not replace the need for proper initial therapy to control gum disease. Standard periodontal guidelines recommend stabilizing the infection first through deep cleaning before major restorative procedures to improve long-term success and reduce complications. Because of the lack of transparent communication from the dentist and the deprioritization of foundational periodontal care, I lost trust in the practice. I am now seeking a second opinion from a periodontist and strongly considering finding a new dentist. Future patients: Ask to review your X-rays together, inquire specifically about any bone loss, pocket depths, and the planned sequence of treatment. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I should've known not to return after my first experience, when the owner, Guneet A, suddenly raised the prices for my wisdom teeth extraction. She later called and apologized. Apparently theres there's a new $25 charge for no-shows/ last-minute changes. However, I was NEVER made aware of this when I initially spoke to the front desk, especially considering I was extremely sick at the time. When I checked in today, I was still not informed about this charge. The receptionist, who was unprofessional and dismissive, was rude when I explained that I hadn't received any text messages about this new policy, nor was I told about it when I rescheduled my appointment. I asked at the start of my visit if there were any outstanding charges, and she never mentioned anything about the $25 fee. It feels like the owner creates and changes policies on a whim. I should've trusted my instincts, but they kept bombarding me with emails and phone calls to use my dental insurance. The service and communication here have drastically declined since my last visit a year ago. This place seems to forget that customers are the reason they stay in business. We pay for their services and help keep their business running. Customer satisfaction should always come first. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! This was my first visit to Fab dental after leaving my last dentist due to not liking her work, feeling rushed etc. BY FAR! FAB DENTAL WAS THE BEST DENTIST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD!! Starting from the hygienist, she was so friendly and caring. Asked me of any concerns, made sure I was comfortable throughout my cleaning, diligent effort in her job. Regarding the dentist, super friendly and went above and beyond! She diligently inspected my teeth and x-rays and thoroughly addressed all my concern. I brought up occasional teeth clenching/grinding and she first checked for damage then followed up with several questions to get a better idea of my situation. She let me know all the options I had such as a custom night guard (from the dentist) as well as how much it would be, cheaper, over the counter options, and also let me know that if I was considering Invisalign (I am) that she recommends to do that first as I would need a new mouth guard made after. She broke down the cost for Invisalign and unfortunately my insurance does not cover it so she even suggested getting a new insurance to see if they would cover or if I'm switching jobs, wait to see if insurance through the new job will cover it. My two front teeth, one of them had a slight angle on the bottom and so she offered to correct this AND DID IT FOR FREE! She worked her magic and then gave me a mirror to see for myself to which she happily grinded a bit more down. Now my two front teeth are perfectly straight! This doctor, not sure if they have multiple at this location, was the most caring, thorough, and diligent dentist I've ever had. I normally don't like going to the dentist but this time I left the dentist with a smile ear to ear. I said WOW! walking back to my car If you are thinking about making a first time appointment here, DO IT! First and foremost was the consideration that the owner placed on what I had written. Second is the transparency on why a certain procedure was chosen and why it costs what it does. After I left my initial review the owner Brahm contacted me and wanted to learn more about my experience and how to make things right. He also patiently explained in a lot more detail why a certain procedure is considered and compared that with less expensive procedures. This is what I was lacking during my visit and made that point clear, which Brahm noted he would try to address. He also mentioned that it is not safe to use home tartar removal tools below or underneath the gums as this area lacks enamel and protection. --------- Old review. 2.5/5 - Average. My review is for the young front desk clerk and the lady who took over after, I understand to check for insurance is important because you need to get paid but you should also have some trust on people, I visited previously because of my dentist kept repeating her work, at some point I had to get a second opinion, and went to fab the dentist visit was great, the equipment they use is top of their technology, so I decided to make Fab my new dentist, made an appointment an was happy to start with them, when setting up the appointment they ask for the insurance which I provided as Delta dental PPO, and it work just fine. during the next months me and me wife both change jobs and that's were there was a change on their attention specially the young helper they got... she kept trying to use a different insurance from an older job, they asked me to wait an hour, when I returned they asked me to make another appointment? so to be clear even if I was to pay out of pocket and claim it to the insurance later I had lost my appointment, my time, and felt like dirt. Won't be returning so please stop the text messaging, I went to a other dentist, there's lots of them... I want to edit my review to add something. The pre braces picture was a picture I took for another dentist who recommended I pull all teeth out and do full implants. I was almost going to do it because I was I'm just despair and was promised a few dental appointments and it would be done. Thank goodness I walked into Dr. Alag's practice. It would have been the worst decision I could have made all because I'm so terrified and embarrassed ( well was anyway) . It would have cost about the same and maybe I would have the teeth we see on Hollywood stars ... most likely not. Who's to say I wouldn't have had a mouth full of teeth that were not mine and looked unnatural? I mean I see bad veneers all the time. Dr. Alag is hands down the best decisions I've made in all my dental life. I don't even cry as often because she lowers my anxiety and gives me time to process when I'm in the chair. You cannot tell anything happened! She warned that my night guard might not fit anymore and to let them know if that is the case. She was right. Kim (dental hygienist) was fantastic!!!! Came in initially for teeth cleaning and then to check on work needing to be done on a cracked filling. Kim is excellent at her craft! When she was done with the cleaning part of my appt, my teeth felt lighter! She scraped off a lot of plaque and buildup. The part I appreciated most was the time she took to educate me on oral care and answer questions I had about my insurance. She was kind, informative, and a pleasure to know. Asked to book my 6 month cleaning with her. My time with Dr Alag was short, but after looking at the xrays and a visual inspection of my cracked filling, she said she'll do her best to save it and use root canal as last resort. I appreciate how conservative she is in wanting to do minimal invasive treatment unless absolutely needed. Overall, it was a great choice coming to Fab Dental for my dental needs. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful right when I walked through the door. They interacted with all clients with kindness and a smile. The facility is clean and bright. So I'd done a review somewhere after my first visit. On the way our i was asked if I'd give a 5 star review and was given a QR code to submit that review...so they really wanted that 5 star review posted, lol. And I did...at the moment under "pressure", i did it. But realistically, after stewing on it for a while...there was something (a couple of things) that really didn't sit right with me... Everyone was "professionally friendly" enough...front desk was the most "naturally" friendly and attentive, which was good. My hygienist...drawing a blank on her name (I think started with an "L", while she was professional and TECHINCALLY "friendly", it felt overly stiff, ingenuine, and ridgid. Was as if she was "going through the motions" of being friendly, but not genuine feeling comfortable in actually being NATURALLY friendly...not sure if that makes sense... You know how you can tell when someone is just nice and easy to talk to and when they are comfortable with dealing with people...well this girl, again, she was nice the whole time, but it never felt NATURAL. Was stiff, and cold, while still being professional. So am i asking too much? Maybe...but having gone to dentists my whole life where people are NATURALLY friendly, the difference is huge and very noticeable. So is it a bad thing? Not necessarily and certianly won't be a bad thing for some patients, but IMO, does that contribute to a 5 star rating??? Absolutely not in my book...but only in retrospect do i see that. The OTHER thing...and THIS is probably why, after thinking about it, that i likely will NOT return to this location, despite it being within walking distance from my home and doing saturday appts which are both ***HUGE perks that i WAS very excited about***... But when the dentist came...he too suffered from the same "overly rigid professionalism" that seemed cold and scripted and ingenuine...so there's that, but the thing that I didn't think about until after the fact, is that being my first dental visit in a couple of years, just recently having gotten new insurance... there was supposedly LOTS to do... like a LONG list of things they wanted to do... and 1) I don't think the situation is that bad...it felt like they were making mountains out of mole hills...because out of the blue, i needed a deep clean, 3 crowns (which obviously involve root canals = $$$$$$$$) and then was presuming to tell me i NEED to have my final wisdom tooth removed that is causing ZERO issues (no impaction no nothing).... But anyway... that in theory still that could be all fine and good...like i said a couple of years, so MAYBE those things ARE NEEDED. But you know why i say MAYBE???? Well the main thing I DON'T like about this office, 2) is that ALL My previous dentists, have (at least had) a set up with their monitor IN THE PATIENT's VIEW, so they can actually POINT AT IMAGES OF XRAYS & SHOW ME the issues they found, and I could SEE WITH MY OWN EYES the degree of severity, and validate that what they are SAYING, I ACTUALLY NEEDED, versus just listening to the laundry list of money making procedures they now listed off for me with ZERO evidence of why I even needed them (pertains mostly to the crowns, fillings, root canals, etc). EVERY dentist i've been to before in my adult life, had that monitor and SHOWED ME, and pointed to everything they found so i could see, and validate, and agree and make the EDUCATED choice to proceed or not proceed, prioritize what to do first, put on the side burner, etc... But at this place, for like the next visit they wanted to immediately start with everything without ever once SHOWING ME what they claimed to have found. Not saying they're lying, per se, I'm sure they are on the up and up in that regard, but when they are telling me i have like $5k in crowns and crap, SHOWING, for me, is CRITICAL. I don't know how easy it is for them to adjust the locations of the monitors so they can actually have an interactive SHOW and tell session and point and explain with detail their findings, but if they can, THAT would be the BIGGEST thing I would personally need to see changed before considering going back. So for now i'm going to check my previous dentist under my old insurance and see if they are in network with my new one...they're in castro valley and DON'T do saturdays, so that all SUCKS, BUT, the experience is night and day... there it feels like a NEIGHBORHOOD dentist should feel...NATURALLY friendly, ...kinda like CHEERs...the show... "Where everybody knows your name And they're always glad you came You wanna go where people know People are all the same You wanna go where everybody knows your name" THAT vibe, is completely absent at this place that technically is MY neighborhood dentist... but it does NOT feel like it. So again, NOT horrible, but definitely NOT 5-star worthy in my book. read more

I love this dental office. I called because my wisdom tooth was hurting, and they booked the next day. They prescribed me some antibiotics, and after 4 days booked the extraction. Everyone, including receptionists, assistants, and my dentist created a warming environment. The office is very new, clean and modern. The extraction wasn't painful at all, and I have all the instructions on what to do to heal properly. I am amazed and thankful to have found this office. I highly recommend it to everyone! read more

I got a resin filling for a chipped tooth back in May 2023. The filling was poorly sealed and caused a cavity over time. After seeing other dentist and specialist they reported that the filling was poorly done. I would not recommend this place. Unfortunately some of the new assistants and not very caring or friendly. I left my appointment today wondering if this was the same dentist office I loved before. I'm not even sure it was the same Dr I had before... This Dr looked unfamiliar and was not as informative or clear in what my dental needs were. I went in for a routine cleaning and only one dental assistant was caring and concerned with the obvious anxiety I was having. I wish I got her name. Unfortunately someone else did the polishing and x-rays for the end stages of my cleaning. She was unfriendly, rushed, and soft spoken so I couldn't understand anything she was saying. The new receptionist also didn't know for sure what my next appointment needed to be. I asked questions and she just kept saying she will check with the Dr but never did. She just kept saying the co pay will be the same... I don't care about the copay! I have dental anxiety and want to know what I am walking into for my next appointment! Not sure where to start, but I won't be back. When I hire a professional, that's what I expect to be dealing with, and that goes for everyone in the office - all staff, regardless of job title or description. After two visits, I have not found the level of savvy and accountability that I require and, quite frankly, demand by reason of the associated cost, which does not simply encompass money. This is a dentist and there are many common facets to trusting these people, i.e., fear, worry, communication, comprehension, etc.; we're not talking about rocket science but rather a profession that's supposed to cater to those who have legitimate reasons for experiencing anxiety. What I needed done was not uncommon, and I am grateful for the availability, given my emergency and lack of insurance, but I did not find staff able to handle even simple things; surprisingly, I didn't get separate written discharge instructions (having been told a variety of things). After a couple of "scenes" that resulted from my reactions to the poor showings, and telling one of them that patient confidence is shaken badly, they tried to press me for another appointment - after climbing on a high horse because I was distraught and it showed! This experience involved 2-3 front office and 3 back office personnel, and only a couple were acceptable - thankfully, the dentist and his assistant - and a situation that everyone faces absent regular dental care. I have no qualms about the fact that my neglect gave rise to the need for service, and I own my side of the responsibility, plus I got good pricing, but it appears that this may be an example of getting what you pay for - whatever the case, it will not sit well with me. read more

When I tell you that this is the best dental group in the bay area - I MEAN IT!!!! I'm a super scary cat at any dentist office because I don't like the big needles that make my lips feel gigantic, I don't like hearing the saw like sounds, or the drill that totally freaks me out!!!
