I'm very disappointed with Jupiter car service. Twice they picked me from the airport. The first time I waited an hour for a car. They kept saying they were close by but I still waited close to an hour. I'm currently at the airport waiting for a car and it's been 30 minutes. They keep saying a few minutes but they're not here. The driver said he had to loop around again but I've seen the same cars come through three times and my driver still isn't here. I will never use them again for airport pickup. read more

I used them for a couple of years. They used to be okay, with the occasional delays or odd drivers. Not any more! The man who answers the phone can be so rude, without using swear words. The last time I tried to use their service, I had reserved the day before. When the time to be picked up came and went, I called him and he clearly had no record of the reservation but he said : "ok, 10 minutes." Then after 15 minutes, I called back and he said: "10 minutes." This rigmarole went on a few more times. The last time I called, after having waited for over 45 minutes, he hung up. I had to call an Uber. All he had to do was fess up early on that they had lost the reservation or that they did not have enough cars, so I could chose an alternate mode of transportation. Instead he chose to string me along and lie. Never again. I almost missed my flight. I highly recommend you chose a different company. read more

We used Jupiter Car Service for car rides to and from the airport because they provide car seats for babies. First time we actually used a minivan, but subsequently we booked a normal car, which was just fine for a family of 3 traveling with a large suitcase, 2 carry-on bags, 1 backpack with baby stuff, and a stroller. Pick up was always on time. Most recently, our red eye from the West Coast landed at JFK at 5:50am. The driver called us while we were still taxing[1] to let us know that he was at the cellphone parking lot, and to call him once we got all our luggage. Basically we got picked up within a couple of minutes after exiting the baggage claim area. Every time we used Jupiter Car Service the cars were clean, and the drivers nice, friendly, and attentive. I feel like the unappreciated car service runs the danger of the dry cleaner or shipping service--who's going to come on here except to bitch about the time something goes horribly awry. So I'd like to give a shout out to Jupiter for their consistent and solid service for my Queens airport runs. Sure, they aren't perfect--I've learned to specify local to Eastern Parkway to Atlantic to JFK as they seem to default BQE to the Belt, and anyone with half a brain knows the Belt is just plain dumb. But they have an easy to use online reservation system as well as prompt 24/7 phone service. Every car has been on time or early, with friendly drivers in clean cars. Most will help with your bags and seem extremely conscientious and caring. On my recent trip, the driver chased me down when I left a small bag behind. I've done mostly trips to the airport, but even a couple of pickups, and everything has been perfectly smooth--driver texted for the pickup and was where he stated and on time. And at $35-$40 for LGA/JFK, pretty reasonable. With all the logistics you have to worry about before a trip, it's a good feeling to be able to book a car in seconds and then forget about it, feeling perfectly secure you'll get to the airport smoothly. read more

I don't normally like to write bad reviews but this place is completely unreliable and managed to mess up both my drop off and pick up in the same trip back to back. We use them cause they have car seats but they can't even get that right. I called to schedule a 6:30am pick up for JFK and while scrambling to get my toddler ready in an already hectic morning discovered there car was no where to be seen. Somehow they mistook the information and thought it was 630pm. They did get someone else over right away and mostly by our own advanced planning still managed to make our flight. I get a call a later on from their dispatch apologing for their mistake as they pressed the wrong button. Ok, thats forgivable. Fast forward, I decided to give them another chance for our return trip and called to schedule a pick up. The guy was too lazy to take down my information and directed me to schedule online instead. Fine, at least they won't get it wrong if i enter the data i figured. As I depart my plane, i get a call that they again messed up and forgot the requested car seat. After a rough yellow taxi ride a couple years ago we started calling Jupiter for all of our airport transfers and they've been great. For departures they've never been late for a pickup - in fact they're usually several minutes early. For arrivals I was so surprised at how on point they were. Just a few minutes after our flight landed and we received a text saying that the driver was already on his way. I loved the constant communication - most recently our driver said "I'm 4 minutes away" and boom! there he was about 4 minutes later. And because they operate 24/7 - you can call them at anytime to schedule a pickup. And they'll basically drive you anywhere for a predetermined rate. Middle of BK to JFK ---- $40. How can you beat that? Easy to book reservations + clean cars + a smooth ride + and some super friendly drivers. I'll pick Jupiter over a taxi any day of the week. read more

After using another car service in town, I had really high expectations. Unfortunately, that car service doesn't take or drop off at EWR so I had to look elsewhere and was directed to Jupiter Car Service. After my experience, I will not be a return customer. While the driver was fantastic and 15min early, their rates are outrageous and deceiving. Online it says that there are flat rates to airports and was told you get a better rate with paying cash. I was informed that I would have to pay almost $30 more than what the online price said-it was crazy that my airplane ticket was $92 and the ride there was $82. For comparison, an UberX and Lyft (neither shared) were both $50 at 7:30/8am in the morning. I hate to not support local business, but if you're on a budget then definitely go with Uber if you are heading from NYC to EWR. read more

Against my better judgment, after reading the reviews I decided to give this car service a try since the owner of the company was so responsive on Yelp messaging. I didn't end up getting picked up on the requested time for my 7am flight & that was pretty damn annoying considering I was told "We received your confirmation. Not sure why it sent you that email. I paid extra for a meet and greet but the driver was late and when he eventually arrived he didn't want to come into the airport and I had to insist several times. Absolutely horrific experience. We booked a car with Jupiter after we learned our 60lb dog needed surgery requiring anesthetic and that she wouldn't be able to walk the mile and a half home. We saw Jupiter were pet friendly and we didn't want to deal with an Uber or taxi. This was a massive mistake. First off the driver was, I kid you not, FORTY MINUTES LATE. We called the dispatcher at ten minute intervals to ask where the car was and were repeatedly lied to that it was a few blocks away. Meanwhile my poor drugged dog was slumped on the pavement shivering (it was low 40s that day). Second, once the car finally comes, the driver WASN'T WEARING A MASK, which is not only a complete F-U to your passenger it's also illegal in NYC. This was in a small Toyota Camry and the driver had the windows up given the temp. If I didn't have my dog with me there is no way I would have gotten in that car. Cherry on top: after the driver dropped me off he tried to get me to pay him in cash (not just a tip) even though we already put our credit card on file to pay for the ride. Needless to say, no tip was given. If you're a car service that shows up 40 minutes late and flouts basic norms of service, decency and hygiene, you have no business operating. I would feel better lining Uber's pockets than giving these guys another cent. Use at your own peril. read more

I love their ability to pick you up from the airport, so on my next trip I decided HEY I'm using Jupiter again.... Well I was in for a surprise. I made a reservation online for 6am. When I got an email confirmation, I thought I was set! Well I had to change Their online system allows you to edit a reservation and unfortunately I needed to do so. I changed my reservation from 6am to 5:30 am. 5:15 am rolls around no email/text/call to say the car is on the way. 5:30am no car. I call, they say the car is on the way! 5:40am still no car. I call again, now the car is 5mins away. 5:50 am no car again! I had to call a back up car service so I didn't miss my flight. Horrible customer service and so unprofessional! 24/7 it says. I called at 4:55 this morning for a cab from Bed-Stuy to JFK. I was told we would have a cab in 25 minutes which I thought acceptable. 40 minutes later I called to make sure they were still coming and was told that our cab was 5 minutes away. Our cab arrived at 5:55 a full hour after my initial call. Our driver could barely keep his eyes open, at times drifting across lanes. He opened his window to the 20F air to help him stay awake. On the trip FROM the airport, I'd booked the service 2 months in advance but forgot to confirm before we left....so I was worried we'd have no ride & would be stuck paying the exorbitant taxi fares Let's just say as we'd landed & I turned my phone on, there was already a text saying they had arrived & would be waiting outside baggage claim whenever we were ready......how awesome! The ride was smooth, the car immaculate & true to their word, the price was the price - no hidden fees. And being so pleased w/ our experience, we booked a return trip TO the airport & here's where everything fell to pot. They never showed - I called them 10 min after our pickup time & was told the driver would immediately call me back - they never called I called AGAIN 30 min after our scheduled pick up time to let them know to forget it but they asked me to hold while *they* called the driver.....I hung up after being on hold another 10 min - we timed it. Luckily, we'd baked in enough of a cushion to allow for such nonsense, otherwise, I'd have been freaking! For being such a great experience to the absolute worst, have to say overall, I've experienced better. Glad my roommate suggested Jupiter Car Service, when I was about to uber to JFK airport. As an avid uber user, I was a bit skeptical at first because when I called to request a car at 7:23am, the rep only asked for my address and didn't inform me what car or when it will be picking me up. I was starting to worry, since I had no clue when the driver was coming, but at 7:30am, a car showed up. The driver was super friendly and helped with all of my luggages from my house. Smooth ride, and arrived at the airport with no problem. No complaints here. Pros: -Fixed rate for airport destinations, no surprise fees (from Brooklyn, $33 to LGA and $38 to JFK, which is way cheaper than taxi or uber/lyft) -Friendly and helpful driver -Accept card/cash in the car Cons: -Could improve on giving estimates on arrival time of the driver and the description of the car, when requested through calls Recommended? I have given this company too many chances!! They were great until a few weeks ago... My husband warned me that they were no good anymore but I didn't listen. Last week I took a 5 minute can ride and they charged me $18. I'm 6 months pregnant and the driver didn't even help me with my bag until I asked. I called to complain and to inquire about a car to the airport and the man said he would give me a discount for my troubles. Of course I took the bait and ended up waiting for about 15 minutes after my pickup time, for my scheduled car to arrive to take me to Newark. The cherry on top is that I have now been stranded at Newark Airport at 10pm on a Sunday night after an exhausting day. The driver was scheduled to pick me up at 9:30 and at 9:45 when I called he said he was just getting into NJ. Not ok! Somehow I manage to make it to places on time, so I don't know why Jupiter never does. They seem so surprised when there is traffic. This is NYC, there is always traffic! Oh and I didn't even mention the driver who picked my up in Bayridge and hit 95 mph on the BQE swerving in and out of traffic and blasting music. When we asked him to slow down he did not respond and didn't slow down. My husband had to get angry and tell him to slow down before he made an attempt. I thought all of these were isolated incidents because they used to be so dependable and courteous and inexpensive. Never again! It's more expensive than Quickride ($55 quote vs. $40 for JFK to Manhattan) but Jupiter doesn't leave you stressing, nor do they cancel on you last minute if traffic is too heavy. Warning: Hidden fee for credit card transactions. Quote was $40 from Bay Ridge to the Upper East Side. Car arrived either early or on time, but the driver did not call or text to notify me, which is fine, but other companies are contacting the customers nowadays. He drove quite fast, which was good since there was more traffic than expected. However, some people may not be comfortable with that. My main issue is with the payment. I had told the dispatcher the night before that I would be paying with credit card. The driver did not know this. It took him between almost 10 minutes to set up the credit card transaction. To top it off, I was greeted on my credit card statement with a $4.50 "Taxipass" fee, which was not disclosed to me. Sure, it was on the receipt that I signed, but it was also in small text BELOW the cost, tip and signature area. Cash users won't have to worry as much, but there are still some significant communication issues to be resolved. I am finally in the car to the airport which arrived 20 minutes late. I had changed the pick up the the previous day and received a confirmation email on it. I called this morning at the new pick up time since the car wasn't there. The rude woman gave me the original pick up time but I told her I had received confirmation of the new pick up time. She kept trying to tell me the car was on the way and I had to insist twice that she call it to confirm. The car arrived 5 min after the original pick up time and I explained to the driver that I was now running late (but I knew it wasn't his fault). Then he told me that he had just gotten the call a little while ago to come pick me up. So now I know the woman was lying when she tried to huddle me off the phone and that the car was on the way. Good thing I insisted she confirm!!! And now the driver is telling me that if I want to pay by credit card, I have to call the office. These guys know their business. I had an unfortunate accident last night, injuring my foot. That made my plan to go from Times Square to Newark Airport by train seem like a really bad idea. A taxi, if you can find one who will go to Newark (it's in a different state, and my understanding is that they can't pick up a return passenger, making it a less profitable trip), would cost well over $130 during rush hour. And since they are metered, the meter keeps going up the longer you wait in traffic. So at 11:00 last night I started to hunt for a car service to pick me up at 7:30 am. Some services seemed sketchy, despite decent Yelp reviews. And a few top places wanted $140 or more. Then I found Jupiter. The dispatcher who answered lady night was fantastic, and said a car would be no problem. The cost? Fixed st $50 plus $15 for tolls plus tip. A fantastically good price. So, fingers crossed, I hoped they'd be there in the morning. My cell rings at 7:00am and it's the driver, telling me the car he's in and that he's downstairs ready for me at any time, but not to rush as they agreed to time was 7:30. That's service. I go downstairs and meet Angel, driver of car #55. He is kind and friendly, the guy you want to have as a neighbor or friend. We chatted the entire way to Newark. Now terminal B has 3 boarding levels, and we both guessed I would need level 3. Wrong. I told Angel no problem, I'd take the escalator down. He said no, that with my foot injury he didn't want me to walk extra distance, so we drove around the airport so that we could go to the right level. Angel was indeed an angel. Five stars for being cheap, on time, and real. By "real," I mean no hidden fees or tolls included in their rates. When they quote you a price for your ride, it's a flat fee. My husband and I are in New York for a week long vacation and have used them twice already (only our second day) to get us from point A to point B. We booked a day in advanced to meet us at JFK, and they phoned us to let us know they were on our way even before we got off the plane! The quality is service isn't tops, but only because it's not those fancy Lincoln town cars limo services use. We rode in a Toyota Camry. It was $40 for everything (including our tip). I don't care if the car is less than fancy, as long as they came on time and get us to our destination safe and sound. Travelers to NYC, I highly recommend their services! read more
