Honestly I don't know if an entire staff could be any friendlier. I had called them maybe 8 times before coming asking many questions about certifications and spearfishing. I believe it was Adam who I spoke with on the phone who answered so many questions. Then I dove with Sandy who did my lionfish hunting certification, she was so helpful and was very passionate about her teaching. She worked really hard to make sure we found a few to hunt. I have well over 50 dives with this company, I high recommend JDC, the crews and staff are amazing and professional. I have been an instructor for 40 years and in my experience the people who usually complain are ill prepared and with not well trained or fail to follow their training. remember, if you are on a dive boat, then follow the protocols. there is a schedule, follow it. Advanced dives on a live boat are like a dance, there is choreography and if all listen to the briefing, are equipped and trained the dive will be a great experience. Susan Stevens NEW Saturday August 12th, 2023 Only 1 star.... but no one died! This time! The boat crew was the rudest group of people I have ever experienced on dive boat. But it didn't stop there. Offer very little help. I don't really need much, but others new diver did. There were a lot of new divers and I don't think they understood this is not typical. A AOW (Sandy who apparently is the f in owner) instructor yelled at a student in front of his 11 yo son for not getting his gear on fast enough and that " we waiting on you and you're holding up the whole boat!". Really? The guy was struggling w his gear. I was so embarrassed for him and his son. My dive buddy and I were shocked! No comradely on the surface interval. Dead pan quiet. The boat crew does not even roll up your surface marker. They help u get into your seat w a tank on but no assistance up the ladder. They do not have a on board gas analyzer. They fail to mention this on booking, so you will have to take u r tanks up the gangway and up 2 flights of stairs back to the shop. Nice! The offer low end snacks with limited selection. The crew takes the stance at the stern w their arms cross their chests and challenge u your ask them for anything. When not at the stern the take the top deck w the Captian, unreachable and not engaging. I find this aspect most concerning.. With a boat full of new divers so many near accident misses can be caught topside with casual conversation and guest interaction. I did ask a crew member to shut off my 1stage .. it was so tight I need help. Not an uncommon request. He scolded me for not telling him " that he was turning the tank valve the wrong way". The dude was going back and forth twisting the valve. I thought he was loosening the valve. I specifically said " PLEASE help me turn OFF the VALVE". There is only one direction to crank off a tank. Thank you Dive Professional. Unbelievable! So if you're looking for a ride out to the reef, this is your boat. If you want a "diving experience, that's fun and pleasant with crew eager to make sure you're having an enjoyable dive.. " take your 150.00 and book some place else. What a wonderful dive charter on the Kyalami!! Me and my boyfriend took our first dive charter together with them this past weekend. The crew were all amazing . They made sure to update me the night before even to warn me of rough seas for the day of the trip! We got Ana as our private dive guide - this was my boyfriends first ocean dive, so to make him feel more comfortable, we got her to assist us. This was also a drift dive, so not exactly for beginners. She was AMAZING!!! She made sure to stay with us the whole time- even when my bf had issues with unclogging his ears. She pointed out my first in person , HUMONGOUS Goliath grouper-which was this highlight of this dive trip !! The seas were extremely rough, however the visibility on the bottom was perfect! Awesome time, and can't wait to come back ! Highly recommend these guys! read more

My girl and I had a disappointing Grouper aggrigation dive with another dive shop/charter service. I realize it is "the ocean" but looked to Jupiter Dive Center to complete our need to see this natural phenomenon. Jupiter came through in "spades". Less cost, last minute, and super professional. Even though some consider 18 divers a "cattle boat", We couldn't have been happier. 18 great divers, competent captian, and a passionate crew. We hit the groupers and wrecks and got great shots. Exciting time. We shall use the on our next visit and highly recommend them. read more

I have been out with JDC a good number of times now, and they are consistently great. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and professional. The boats are nice, they have the type of tank holders that means I can actually stand up in my doubles despite being short, fin-friendly ladders make it easy to get back on, and the deckhands (hi, Ryan!) are immediately there to help you with your fins before guiding you back to your seat. The dive briefings give a good explanation of the topography and also the marine life to look out for. Oh, and soda and snacks on board! The shop staff are also really great. They're quick on fills and have 3 analyzers so I don't have to use my personal one in the interest of time. They have always been so friendly and welcoming, and an extra thank you to Marcelo who is always willing to help me with my doubles when I get them filled. I really appreciate that they have three large rinse bins and a hose so that I can easily take care of my gear as soon as I get off the boat. They also have this great bench right by the dock which is perfect for me to setup/teardown my doubles since I prefer to do that on land. A few things to know: 1) It is drift diving, you need to carry an SMB, preferably with a spool. Knowing how to shoot it from depth is extra helpful. 2) The dives tend to be on the deeper side. Nitrox (36% works great) will let you get the most out of your day. 3) Tanks are not included in the boat fee, which I actually appreciate because I bring my own and would rather not pay for tanks I'm not using, but it's good to keep in mind if you do rent. 4) Captain Tom is from Brooklyn and will have trouble with your name if it's uncommon. The fix for this is to dive on his boat a lot, consistently. I'm still working on diving enough from the Republic IV for Tom to remember my last name. We're getting there! ;) All in all, Jupiter has some great reefs and great drift diving and I highly recommend you check it out with JDC! read more

I returned to Jupiter, FL in August for a long weekend so I could go diving for the first time in two years (unless diving in an aquarium counts). I was so stoked and Jupiter Dive Center did not disappoint. Captain Mike, DM Dave Anderson, and the rest of the staff are great. I had an issue with my computer not working because of the battery and they allowed me to use a PSI gauge on short notice before the boat was about to leave. They also replaced the battery in my husband's computer quickly. Note to self - start carrying batteries around (rookie mistake). We were rewarded with one of my best dives ever at Deep Ledge. The current was swift but we were lucky and saw our first shark on the dive just as we got down to depth (reef shark). Later in the dive we saw our first hammerhead shark ever and it was an amazing experience. We also saw two sailfish (never expected that) and some sandbar sharks. The other dives we saw huge loggerhead turtles everywhere and goliath groupers. We also dove Tunnels again and made it to the doughnut hole where the reef sharks hangout. It's definitely a must to be nitrox certified to dive in Jupiter due to the depth. We learned the second time around! I love this place. read more

Great place to dive in Florida if you want a little variety. Very cool drift dive. I have heard it is great to go during the lemon shark migration. I reckon if you go any other time odds are you will see turtlers and sharks. I did on both of my trips. Don't be fooled by the $65 for two tanks. My boyfriend and I enjoyed an awesome dive charter with jdc in February. It was his first real open water dive after certification and I hadn't touched a wet suit in about 5 years, so we were both nervous. The divemaster kept near by us and pointed out some stuff I wouldn't have noticed. We saw big morays, turtles, reef sharks, rays and tons of fish. Even after telling them that we were a little nervous, the staff was pretty hands off, but ultimately it just reassured us of our competence. A little pricey at $110 per person, but that's fully kitted out for a two-tank dive. read more

I felt as though the boat was overcrowded. There wasn't enough room for everyone to get their gear on at once. So some divers had to be dropped later. This may have been because one of their boats was broken and dives later in the day were cancelled due to severe conditions. Still it felt a little unsafe as people fell getting ready because of the crowding. Then on the surface interval I had difficulty getting my gear switched because I couldn't get the tank closed. I asked for assistance and was told I would be helped. But that never happened. So by time we get to the dive site I'm not prepared to go. So I opted to stay aboard with my dive partner who was battling sea sickness. I wouldn't recommend diving with this shop if you're new to diving. Because the support seemed so minimal. If I hadn't struggled with some sea sickness and a finnicky tank I would have been ok. I imagine things may be better on less crowded dives. But I was disappointed. read more

Not a great first experience with this dive company. Waters were calm this day. We had a group of 16 divers. My dive buddy and I were not seated together so we didn't get a good opportunity to do a proper pre-dive buddy check. That's diving 101. For the first dive the boat gets into location, deckhand yells "dive! dive! dive!" and we jump in, all 16 of us. I was one of the last in the water because it takes a few moments for 16 people (8 each side of the boat) to jump in. By the time I entered the water the first divers had already descended 25-30 feet. Visibility was 40-50 feet so the first divers were a little faint in my view at that point. So we descend to 85 feet. Divemaster immediately signals to everybody to ascend back to surface. No safety stop, just straight back to surface. At the surface DM tells us we missed the reef. and the plan to to get back on the boat and go back to reef. According to my dive computer I used 608psi from my tank on that botched dive. Another diver used over 800psi and asked staff if they had another tank onboard. No extra tanks. So we lost about 20-25% of our bottom time due to this error (captain's error maybe?) Only had 12 mins surface interval before jumping in the water again. For the second dive (first full dive) my bottom time was limited to about 18 mins before my computer was signaling to ascend. With safety stop my total dive time was only 22 mins. Disappointing. 1:10 surface interval. Third dive (Second full dive) was much better and we saw some cool fish and reef structures. Goliath groupers, a couple of sharks, two sea turtles. This group had mixed air mixes. Some with air, some with Nitrox. I feel the the group was too large for the DM to watch closely and had two (possibly a third) less-experienced divers that went into Deco. They were using rental equipment from Jupiter Dive Center. Granted, it is the divers responsibility to know the computer and have a safe dive. However, when you are renting equipment to less-experienced divers that may not be familiar with that computer, DM should keep a closer watch over them and bottom time so their inexperience doesn't turn into a dangerous or deadly situation. I believe most dive charters run all air or all nitrox dives so you don't have divers with significantly different bottom times. We were in 70-80 feet of water so your bottom time with air was 25 mins. Nitrox divers had 45 mins. That's a big difference and a nearly impossible job for one DM to watch over 16 people with different gas mixes. In the end, I felt this was an unnecessary risk. Just to reiterate, I'm not pinning this all on the company. I know it's the responsibility of the diver to know the equipment, computer, and to dive in a safe manner. However, as a dive charter company, when you agree to take a diver out on your boat, you bear much of the responsibility to oversee a safe operation for ALL divers under your watch. I don't feel that was done on this particular day. Missing the reef on the first dive was an excusable error, but this company has been in business for a very long time has plenty of experience and should know when and where to drop divers based on currents, wind, etc. Plus it was a calm day. In the end it ended up costing every diver a shortened experience. For these reasons I won't be using this dive company again. read more

Very smooth, professionally run operation. Booking, renting tanks and analyzing could not be more straight forward or easy. Then one of the staff (Brooks) got the tanks on board for me, in the shade as I requested. Capt. Brian welcomes us aboard and gives a very thorough boat safety and conveniences briefing. The staff monitors the divers assembling their gear and asks if any help is needed and steps in to assist when it seems appropriate. Sandy, the dive guide gives a very good general breifing about how the actual dive operation will run. She covers the sequence of steps to take us from gear assembled, 10 minute get ready expectations, up and ready, dive,dive,dive to surfacing, approaching the boat, fins-on ladder ascension, staff assisted fin removal to back in your seat with tak in the hole. She performs a seperate briefing for each dive site with excellent illustrations to explain the route, potential current, contingencies and bottom time expectaions. The boat had plenty of room (but it was a small group diving so I can't assess how it would feel if fully booked). There was plenty of room to store dry gear up front or down below foorward of the head. The head itself worked and had a latch (nuff said). The dives themselves were full of life with plenty to see. Sharks, Loggerheads, Green Morays, lobsters, many groups of schoolin fish, beautiful angel fish and Parrot fish to name a few. I look forward to my next dive with Jupiter Dive Center. I came here with my fiancé off a recommendation from a fellow diver in our home waters of San Diego. Jupiter dive center was awesome. It was our first drift dive and we were naturally slightly unsure about what to expect. The shop and boat crew talked us through what to expect and gave us tips for making the most of it. I wanted to take a second to review Jupiter Dive Center. I recently finished my OW certification and they had an Advanced OW course right when I was visiting south florida. From the initial contact to arrange the e-learning to the end and goodbye was top notch all the way. I had fantastic personal service by Sandy, my Dive Instructor, as well as the team in the shop that pointed me toward the correct products, changed my regulator configuration to the standard one at no charge, and tirelessly answered my questions. The dive sites were fantastic, the boats were just as I hoped they would be (I was lucky enough to go out on each of them for my two days of two tank boat dives), and the crews were very friendly, professional, and showed that they were centered around safety. The training I received was very thorough. Before starting, Sandy recommended that I get my Nitrox Certification as well as that would greatly enhance my experience and I'm so glad I did. In summary, a fantastic job by the entire staff and especially Sandy who I look forward to seeing again next Winter when I'm down again. This place is a scam. They charge you for the dive (non-refundable). Then when you get there they charge you another $25 for two tanks and if you don't have a safety sausage they'll force you to buy one for $32. They are a tourist trap...stay away!!!!!! Also there were 19 divers on board with only one guide. I love animals and did not appreciate them bringing back live lobster. My boyfriend and I took a trip to Florida in July to visit my parents and they booked 2 days of boat diving for us. First day we dove with this center. There dive boat was very nice, it wasn't over crowed and the crew was friendly. Although the deck hand had no idea what size my tank was and kept insisting it wasn't an HP80. I own one back at home and my boyfriend worked for a scuba place. So that was a little disconcerting. But the Dive Master and captain were amazing. I've never been to Florida so I got to see so much. Rudest dive shop I have ever been in. Would not lift a finger to find the tanks I dropped off or thelp carry them to my car. I told Jerry I had back issues and could not lift tanks that were 4-5 tanks deep and he told me I could move all the others to get to them. We will look for a friendlier place to do business. Just got back from a week long group trip with 16 divers and had an excellent time. I worked with Lisa who was EXTREMELY helpful and made the trip the best it could be. We did 3 days diving with JDC and 3 with Walkers and Lisa coordinated all the logistic which were many. I have to say, the dives I did today with Jupiter Dive Center had to be just about the best that I have been on in South Florida. It was an all-around win, win day. The crew and Captain on 'Boat 7' were so, so helpful and accommodating and didn't miss a beat. They were courteous and very safety conscious which is extremely important in this sport. Although the boat was filled just about to capacity, it didn't feel cramped or uncomfortable and such a large variety of snacks and refreshments were available to the divers at the interval stop between dives. The dives were beautiful and saw an amazing amount of turtles.( my favorite). I can't wait to go back out with Jupiter Dive Center again! read more

Don't use these guys. I'm a local and went with them 4 times and they were all about their profit and not the customer. They are one of the only operators in Jupiter so the divers there have gotten used to their bad behavior. They bought a shop in Pompano and had to sell it because the locals, who have more choice, wouldn't put up with their bad service. read more

Read the reviews and this seemed like a great dive shop. For my wife and I, our experience was everything diving should not be. 24 divers on one boat. It was a big boat, but everyone was bumping into each other trying to set up the gear. One dive guide for everyone and when we reached our dive site, it was rushed. I felt like I was in basic training or something. I did not feel any attention of personal service. Diving is about relaxing and being at peace. There was not one thing peaceful about using this shop. read more
