I came in with my parents today expecting a normal grocery run and left genuinely shocked by how we were treated. We saw softshell turtles for sale and decided to buy one. The seafood manager told us it would be over $60 and we said that was fine. He picked one for us and handed it to a worker to clean/prep. While we were picking blue crabs nearby, we saw the worker struggling. My mom politely tried to explain how to clean it properly (she wasn't being rude -- she was trying to help because the worker looked lost). The worker responded with a nasty attitude, brushed her off, and kept ignoring her while chatting with a coworker. Then the worker handed us the bag and said, "Next time I'm not even going to clean it for you -- get out of here!" I've never had an employee speak to my family like that in a grocery store. We were so upset we didn't even take the bag and walked away to finish shopping. At checkout, the seafood manager came over with the same worker and asked why we left it. We explained what happened. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve it, the manager got rude and accused us of leaving it because we can't afford it. That's not only unprofessional -- it's insulting, especially because we agreed to the price from the start and were prepared to pay. And to make things worse, while the worker was chatting with his coworker during the prep, I overheard him saying words like "chinos" and "pinches." I'm not fluent, but I know enough Spanish to recognize when someone is talking about customers in a disrespectful way. It's disturbing to hear that in a store where a lot of customers are Asian. This wasn't a "bad day" situation. It was outright hostility from an employee and a manager who escalated things instead of doing his job. We only took the turtle after demanding an apology, but the experience was already ruined. I won't be returning. If management cares, they need to retrain or replace staff in seafood -- because nobody should be spoken to like that while spending money in your store. read more

I wasn't please with store this time. I think the pig uterus did me in.. I found some great cookies on sale and bought them and a few more Chinese Eggplants. Service was good, but no ground beef. The guard helped me find a good Sushi place and a Banh Mi place. I appreciated that. It is a huge store in need of a remodel. read more

Staffs are knowledgeable and will help you find things. I usually have an idea of what I'm looking for or a picture of something I'm looking for. Hours as of 5/22/20: 8:30am - 8:00pm M-Sun It took 3 tries before my husband was finally able to make it into Jusgo. The first two times we tried to go right before closing and both times they were already closed. We finally called and found out they close at 8pm these days. Should've called earlier! I've always preferred shopping at Jusgo because I think their produce are the freshest (most of the time) compared to other Chinatown grocers. I also found some of my favorite snacks here, and there's always new snacks that tempt me to try. In these days of not dining out, snacks have become my new splurge. A note of warning, this place seems to be always busy, no matter what time I've visited. Social distancing is essentially impossible. The aisles are also narrow to the point that two carts cannot comfortably pass each other. However, there is now plexiglass windows at each of the cashiers so that's good they are watching out for their workers. If you are considering coming here, you should Jusgo. If they sold all their juice, you'll be like - where did the Juicego? If the juxtaposition of Asian groceries in Texas no longer surprises you, you'll be like, where did the Juxgo? And if the girl with the amazing boobies (my girl perhaps) disappears around the back of the store (with me hopefully, but probably with a taller boy), you'll be like, where did the Jugsgo? Jusgo is another wonderful International Grocery Store along Bellaire in Chinatown Houston. There are about 7 different rivals within three or four miles of each other and they're all at least 4 star standard which is good. You can find some real gems inside here - and some real gems outside if my girl is around posing for pictures. Or should I say real gams. I prefer Super H Mart (most locations), but this is a good stand in, and offers a few things that Super H does not. I do not like that they sell live animals (frogs and turtles and more), but that's the way of things in the Far East and I guess most of us are eating animals anyway so what a hypocrite I must be to even mention this. I love these Asian yogurt and only the grocery store sells it. Or the Jusgo chains- first one I got was the one in Sugarland. I think I like these better than my Yoplaits. We'll have to go to the Asian grocery store on a weekly basis for these yogurts when I can. read more

I needed a few things for Asian Cuisine, and came to Jusgo. Located in the heart of Chinatown, Bellaire and Gessner, this is an ideal supermarket. Here is a little catch phrase I learnt from my yelp friend Fox, "If you're wondering whether to go or not to go here....JusGo!". They have a pretty large parking lot. Once I entered the supermarket, it was vast and nicely spread out. They had a huge selection of fruits and vegetables. They were nicely displayed, stacked and looked extremely fresh. The seafood area was packed. Plenty of choices available. They even had live frogs, crawfish and crabs. You can get anything related to Chinese cuisine here. I actually needed Jasmine tea, lychee jelly, spring rolls and a fisherman's cap (for my daily running schedule and protection from sun). I was impressed with their tea selection. They had an entire aisle dedicated for tea purchase. I was able to find my Lychee jelly containers which were on sale for $3.99 each. I also located the frozen aisle section with spring rolls and dumplings. The prices are economical and everything is nicely displayed with proper labels and pricing info. Even the workers stocking merchandise are very helpful in directing you to the proper area (walmart take notice!!). Even the check out line was efficient, quick and the cashier was very helpful (greeted and smiled... another lesson for walmart!!). I can definitely see myself as a repeat customer. read more

This is definitely not your traditional super market. In the heart of China Town Jusgo is being the stable of China Town since 2011. They own the shopping center that they locate in. So the parking is a none issue. I mean there is plenty. The selection of the grocery is exotic to put it mildly. No they don't have pre-made sweet and sour pork or prepaid egg roll in nice vacuum packages.But if you want Asian spices, fresh Asian produce and fresh cut meat this is the place for it. And here we go into the their famous sea food department. I mean fresh not only crabs and fish,but live turtles and frogs. Not for faint of heart that's for sure.They will butcher and clean for you also. They carry one of the kind stuff that many Asian market do not carry. Jusgo....hmmm. Asian style grocery store. Lots of exotic foods and spices there. Even though many things are in Kanji, they make it easy to read for Americans as well. Lots of live sea food and exotic meats. I always feel guilty when I go since the frogs and turtles look at me and scream "save me!!!" I have had turtle and frog legs before. Never seen them alive before though. Makes me uneasy. Store has a rough smell of sea food to it. Needs to be more organized. Empty boxes and staff aren't the most friendly. Produce lacks here. Finally arrived... A modern supermarket in Chinatown with clean seafood dept and fresh merchandise throughout the store. The shelves were fully stocked with Chinese groceries from many regions of Asia. Unlike other Chinese supermarkets, I didn't have to rush out because of their cooking odors and bad air circulations. I am fine without a hot deli inside of this store. There are plenty of inexpensive eateries next doors, such as Chinese Cafe and Thanh Noi Sandwich. I have been shopping there since it opened in October 2011. read more

Just made a purchase 10 mins ago at the sugar land location. The cashier service was terrible and unprofessional at all. She mixed frozen goods with dried goods In 1 bag which can spoiled the food. I recognized what happened after check out and quickly grabbed extra shopping bag to separate the items, without troubling the cashier ( there was a long line ). She ran after me and stopped my as I walked out. On top of snapping at me, she accused me of taking extra bag and was very rude. Poor customer service. Imagine 4 staff at the meat section won't serve me because according to them it's not their job? Why not put someone who will be tasked to serve the customers? 4 staff, 2 of them are just a spit away from me didn't even bother to turn around when I was calling them. The supermarket has a great selection but I still can't get over the smells in the store. I know it's an Asian supermarket but it is overly cold and smelly. My mom likes to get all kinds of produce and frozen goods and I like to get some house hold staples like hoisin sauce, canned lychee, snacks etc. The parking lot situation is always tenuous; I always feel like it is a drivers Ed nightmare. I've wandered here a couple of times after getting some banh mi's from next door and each time I couldn't stand to be there for more than 5 minutes. It appears that they have a lot of vegetables and Asian foods (frozen and otherwise), but as soon as you walk in, the stench of spoiled seafood just hits you in the face and there is no escape unless you go to the other end of the store. I couldn't even see their tea selections without getting a gag reflex. The smell is hard to describe because it's not really fishy. Fresh seafood doesn't and shouldn't smell bad and should smell like the sea. This is way beyond that. It could be because of all the live critters like turtles, frogs, live fish, etc. that they have stacked on top of each other. Cruelty aside, those things are wallowing around in their own waste. Before you get your hatemail ready (I've seen more of those lately for some reason on here), I'm not just comparing them with an American grocery store like say Kroger. When I go to Phoneica, an Armenian grocery store, the place is spotless and you can walk by their meat department and not notice any odor. This place though, I don't know. Also, on a cold day, it was the same temperature inside as it was outside. On a positive note, I've been told that a lot of the items they have are exactly the same as "back home" - same brands, etc. read more

This is probably one of the cleanest Chinese groceries in Houston. This might be recently open. Let's hope it stays clean. The seafood section is extensive from all types of fresh (and live) sea creatures. This is the only place in Houston that I've seen that sells live frogs and turtles by the pounds. The meat section carries many different types of meat and can cut the meat in any way if you can somehow manage to communicate it to the butchers. I tend to speak loud, slow and use my hand to indicate the way I want my meats to be cut. The fruits and vegetable section is also clean and organize. So don't forget to buy your greens. This place carries all the typical things like beers (from different parts of SE Asia) kitchen items, sauces and more. This isn't the biggest grocery store and it's locate in the heart of Chinatown (be it the older part). The parking can get ridiculous packed so I warn all you road rage people to "simmer down now" when in this area. All I need now is to learn how to prepare live turtles and frogs. Walking into Jusgo yielded a more hectic and busy environment than any of the previous places we had observed. The automatic doors opened, yielding a wall of announcements to our right cluttered with papers and posters, all written in Chinese. We were also instantly hit with a blast of cool air wafting over from the frozen foods section. The checkout area was bustling with long lines of customers. Cashiers scanned the items and quickly swept them into bags, efficiently moving through the steady stream of waiting customers. Behind the checkout sections were huge boxes piled high with popular, packaged foods from a variety of different Asian countries, including rice crackers, a personal favorite of mine. The space felt cluttered yet organized at the same time. While the store was overflowing with brightly colored packaged goods, everything seemed to have a designated place. All the customers in the store walked with purpose and familiarity, decisively entering an aisle and only briefly pausing to look up and down the row before selecting the item that they needed and moving on. The aisles were organized by the country of origin. We stumbled upon the Taiwanese section by chance. Lining the walls were a variety of goods ranging from sesame cookies to strawberry cake to instant sizzling rice. All the items were marked proudly with the statement 'Product of Taiwan' printed in all capital letters on the front of the package. Everything in the store felt fast-paced with customers constantly filtering in and out. Since we were merely moseying around, without needing to actually buy anything, we felt out of place and often had to pause and step to the side to let customers with shopping carts piled high get around us while we lingered in the aisles. read more

It's relatively clean for a Chinese super market, it doesn't have the biggest produce selection, but it does have great prices for the stuff it carries. They have a very interesting selection of fresh meats.....live even :) live turtles and bullfrogs and live catfish and tilapia, which they will clean for you...... just choose one of the many options on the wall. Their snack selection is decent, lots of random snacks from Asia and even some random European cookies and pastries. The ladies at the checkout are pretty gruff, but hey it's a Chinese market, you're there for the low prices not the service. You can swipe your card, but it's not a large chain so make sure if you've only plastic you're buying more than $5 worth of stuff, otherwise they won't let you swipe your card. read more

Much cleaner and nicer than it's predecessors. Admittedly, not as nice as Super H Mart or 99 Ranch, but it cheap, cleaner than Welcome, and it gets the job done. I'm unhappy that Jusgo Supermarkets sells live turtles and frogs in cramped, dirty conditions. It seems inhumane that they have them displayed like that. They need a bigger place for the critters they're selling. Can't they get them a nice aquarium to hang out in? This store is in the heart of Chinatown, next to some great restaurants. It's one of the largest Asian markets I've ever been in. It had a great selection of pan-Asian spices- with special sections for Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, etc. nationalities of foods and special herbs and ingredients. The seafood counter was vast- with a large selection of fish species that I'd never had. The produce section looked like things were relatively fresh, with many fruits and vegetables that I'd never seen sold in a Texas supermarket. Parking was easy- but this place gets crowded. They seem to pile up inventory in random places throughout the store, and in the entryway so you might have to dodge around crates and pallets. The store wasn't exactly clean- a lot of things seemed a bit shopworn, but they weren't covered in dust- the inventory seems to move on the more popular items. This place seems super authentic. They even have a beer/wine section with good deals, with some Asian beers. The beer and wine selection backs up to the housewares area, where they sell items for your Buddha shrines, incense, and clay pots to cook in. read more

I gave Jusgo a 4-star rating because this supermarket has something that I looked for more than a few stores in the vicinity. First, this place carries more Japanese products than their competitors. I found variety of Pocky, Ramune soda, etc. a lot more than other supermarkets and at cheaper prices. Second, I found tons of Southeast Asian products that I couldn't find from a couple of stores nearby. Being a nostalgic person, I also missed the old Diho supermarket back in the days, which is now where Jusgo is now located. Diho supermarket was the anchor store flanked by a Chinese theatre and restaurants. Coming back brought me back all the memory of watching all the old flicks here . read more

Last week Saturday I have a horrible experience with the staff at the register. She thought I do not speak Chinese therefore she start making fun of my food. And she did not check any of her customers ID but me. She treated me as if I am a thief. Unfortunately my husband locked my credit card without info me. She requested me to call my husband. And treated me horrible. My husband had to bring my two year old baby coming to the market. She forced my husband to show her his ID. It took her 5 minutes to look at our ID. My family been treated unfairly and been humiliated in front of all the Asian community. We feel deeply hurt. And I'd love the management team take this matter seriously. No customer should be treated like that. read more

Right now is Coronavirus time and they have 2 security guards outside giving gloves and wipping down the shopping cart. By doing so it made me feel more comfortable shopping here, but today when I came here they stop giving gloves, instead they stray your hands with some kind of disinfectant spray. read more

My favorite restaurant growing up is located in this center and it was hurting when the old chinese supermarket decided to go under. This new market is brand new is very clean.
