I'm Karen, a hair stylist at JBS who is responding to an unfair review posted 6 months ago. Hello Sonia, I just saw your post for the first time a few days ago. Thank you for your feedback. I must say I was surprised to see such a bad review from you considering this was your daughter's second visit to me. If you remember, my coworker and I started your hair 2 hours after your scheduled time. You didn't show up at your scheduled time, so I phoned you asking if you were still coming in? You stated that you left your money at home and had to go back to retrieve it. After waiting an hour, my coworker and I left as it was our first time doing your hair and didn't know if you were actually serious about getting your hair done. It was a Monday (our usual day off), we came in that day because we couldn't accommodate you on the previous Saturday. After running a couple of errands, I received a phone call from you stating you made it to the salon. I returned to do your daughter's hair and talked my coworker into coming back. I thought we did a really nice thing for you that day, going above and beyond. Now, the first visit was just as the last visit, a chemical relaxer service. A chemical relaxer touch up service to be exact. That service at the time began at $75. The price is increased on thicker and/or longer hair. Your daughters hair is very thick and I thought I was being considerate and generous by leaving the price at $75. You say I quoted you $60 over the phone when you made the 2nd appointment? Sonia, there's nothing on our list of services that costs $60 and I never mentioned a price to you on the phone that day. Could it have been the other salon who quoted you $60? Also Sonia, It is our practice to proceed with caution once a client tells us they have less funds than the cost of the service. However, my heart wouldn't let me leave your daughter's hair in an unfinished state. I did mention to your daughter that "the Christ in me can't leave your hair undone." Your daughter is a sweetheart, It was never my intention to make you or her feel bad. I must be honest by saying, I thought it was strange that you asked your daughter to go over to Kmart to be picked up after her service was completed. Also, I wondered why you didn't come inside the salon when you returned to bring the $15. Again, I found it strange that you parked at the curb a store down and had your daughter do the exchange. I wish you would have come in and expressed your concerns in person.....that would have given us the opportunity to communicate and clear all assumptions and misunderstandings. As far as your attack on my personal appearance goes, I am full figured with a short hair cut, I actually love the way I look. Your statement was called for. I can say more, but that's all I'm going to say about that Sonia. Asking that you pay the $75 for the chemical relaxer was business and nothing personal. We sometimes fall prey to people who have a few tricks up their sleeve. Not saying that you're one of them, I'm just saying it was strictly business. Nothing more, nothing less. Lastly, I'm sorry you were not 100% satisfied with your service and hope you've found a stylist who exceeds your expectations. read more

My first experience at this salon was very pleasant. Karen was my stylist. I was pleased with her from the first conversation I had with her over the phone. She was very nice, professional and easy to talk to. I was in desperate need of getting my hair done and she was kind enough to accommodate me the same day. I arrived to the shop ten minutes early. Doug the barber, greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. Karen arrived right on time and was just as nice in person as she was over the phone. I felt so comfortable during the whole process. I haven't been to a barber shop/hair salon in a really long time. I had one bad experience that scared me from trying a new place for many years. After getting hair cuts at home for such a long time, I decided it was time for a change. This salon gave me the greatest hair cut of my entire life. Doug was my barber, and he really took his time giving me the best look possible. He even took the time to give me tips on how to style it after the cut was finished. I had an appointment with this lady name Tranell at Just Beauty Salon yesterday evening. I requested this beautician to put a color rinse, wash, condition, trim and to style my hair. Well she did what I asked her to do but the problem I had with this hold entire hair experience is that she charged me too much money. This beautician charged me $110 for what she did to my hair. Personally I think she should have charged me about $60-$70 for the service that was rendered. Just for the record, I don't have anything negative to say about the whole entire salon but I just was not too pleased with the price that the beautician charged me. I know that the beauticians all around the world need to get paid just like everybody else if they perform a service for somebody; but this is Christmas Holiday and I think we as people should open our hearts and be a little more giving at this time. Finally this will be first and last time I sit in somebody chair and not ask how much this service is going to cost. read more
