I had a great experience here. I called ahead of time and asked if they did walk ins. I spoke to Imelda and she was friendly. When I got there Imelda attended to me. I was getting a haircut and she was very attentive in asking what I preferred and what I wanted. She was super sweet and I felt satisfied with my haircut. I took one star off because there was an older lady there, who also worked there, that kept making weird comments about my haircut. Which I felt was unnecessary and kind of killed my vibe. I went to Viva Barber Beauty with my son. There was one person ahead of us, so we sat down to wait our turn. When that person was done, we expected to go next. However, the lady -- who I believe is the owner -- chose to take someone who arrived after us. Even that person mentioned that we were next, but she simply refused to attend to us, for reasons I don't understand. The other customer clearly didn't have an appointment. Hesitated to write this review because the women who cut my hair was very nice and I tried to make the best of my situation, but honestly she completely butchered my hair and it's shattered my confidence. I texted and booked with Vanessa. I was sat and my haircut was not done by Vanessa, but by a Spanish speaking women. This is where I should've said no, I didn't book with you and walked away. My bad. I showed her a video of what I wanted and she started cutting (chair facing away from mirror) Photo attached shows how choppy uneven and bad my layers are. I'm sure Vanessa is great, but please don't allow anyone else to do your hair if you book with her. That was a huge mistake on my end to sit down and allow the Spanish speaking woman to cut my hair with no knowledge of who she was. I wanted a low maintenance balayage, so she tended to my fried orange/brown hair and turned it to a beautiful chocolate/caramel balayage. I had long, semi-curly thick hair and so to get the cut and color to fix my poor tresses it cost about $260. I was hesitant before getting it done due to the price, but after seeing the magic that happened and the wonderful customer service provided, it was well worth every penny. I visit Viva a few times a year for my children's hair cuts, I'm usually in and out and always happy with their work. Couple weeks ago i walked into a DIFFERENT salon in the city of Downey to get work done on myself . I asked for honey golden blonde balayage and walked out with ASH blonde highlights and my hair fried. I had to walk away at one point and cry in the bathroom not what i wanted at all was in literal shock. I recalled seeing a post on VIVA IG page about color correction and decided to text Vanessa. We exchanged a few texts and i was able to get an appoitnemt the following week, not because she dint have avalibility but more because of my schedule. When I arrived Vanessa was so patient and informative with me. She answered every question i had, gave me options and walked me through the process step by step of what she was going to do as she knew i was now nervous. I can honestly say she genuinely cared about how i felt and what i wanted. Vanessa did an Amazing job! and I am so happy with my hair. I just wanted to hug her and thank her at the end. At the beginning of 2020, I decided to chop off my hair. All 26' of my straight hair. I did not have an appointment so I walked in, had a seat and waited my turn hoping to get Vanessa. Vanessa was finishing up on another female client, while two other hair dressers worked on men. I do prefer specifically beauty salons to avoid being around men, personal preference, but because all the employees were women, it was great! They have TVs on the wall where you'd sit, but large mirrors on the opposing wall so you can enjoy while you sit. The place was very clean, organized, and accepts card! When it comes to my haircut, I wanted to go from Rapunzel to Dora, and Vanessa did an amazingggg job. She kept asking about my desired length to make sure it was just right, but also just talked to me as if we were old friends. Just a bit disappointed in my experience with this place. I called over the weekend to book a consultation for this week. When I arrived, the place was closed, lights off and doors locked. I drove all the way out from Highland Park to this area because I had been recommended by a few friends to check them out. Really, I just ask that if you book somebody, please be ready to receive your clients or give a heads up if that time no longer works for you guys and you won't be able to tend to the person. I drove a long time with traffic and to pull up to the salon being totally closed without warning was super frustrating and disappointing.
