This review is in reference to the Roseville JBF Sale. I decided to give JBF a try a few years ago to make a little money back on all the baby items I no longer needed. The initial tagging process was a little overwhelming at first but I had A LOT of stuff. It's important to remember that each seller prices their own items, so yes some sellers will price things too high, but as a seller you learn how to price things with experience. I have found the sales to be worth my time and effort. The staff has always been helpful and kind with my many questions. JBF Roseville keeps getting bigger and better! Current location is a larger and brighter space making for a better shopping experience. Incredible variety of product for sale (mostly highly discounted) both NEW and gently used. I'm three years into shopping this sale and now I'm selling as a consignor too! As a buyer I'm continually surprised and impressed to consisently find what I need at this sale and for so much less! I'm saving not spending... Whether you shop early for best choices or shop the Half-Price opportunity you'll find lots of discounted product- Prices are set by each seller and can vary and yes, sometimes we get it wrong but the Mgmt/ Owners do a good job providing guidelines to ensure product is priced to sell WIN-WIN!! Thanks to the JBF Community I've been able to provide a unique experience for my Grandkids each time they visit- last visit it was a Spiderman theme this next visit its Paw Patrol including a new to us Toddler Bed (bought at the Spring sale), toys, and books... and of course another family will get to enjoy Spiderman as those items come back to JBF. read more

New to the sale and didn't not have a positive experience. There are too many people involved and is way to hectic than worthwhile. I ended up getting yelled at for picking my cloths up after the sale after someone else gave me the green light. I ended up getting emotional (I was postpartum), left my things and went home crying. Never again will I shop or sell with them. read more

I love shopping at JBF!!! My 4 year old daughter will say I want to go to JBF today. I regularly find lots of high quality previously loved and brand new items. I save so much on my kid's clothing, shoes, toys, equipment, and books which allows me to give her way more than I otherwise could. I've also been able to earn money and clear our clutter by selling at JBF. JBF is the BEST! read more

Went to the Roseville JBF sale today, and very excited about the great items I got. I'm not a seller, but paid to get in early and it was worth it. I had price checked several items I bought and most were at least 60% off and in great shape. It got a little crowed, but I guess that is expected at such a sale. Overheard others talking about the deals they got. I might even sale at the next event. read more

This is a review for just between friends Roseville. Better off selling your really nice children's clothes elsewhere. I did valet and some of my nicer items went missing. I never found them or got an answer to where they went. Not sure how they keep track or screen their valet taggers. Don't make the same mistake I made. Lesson learned for me. read more

I went to the Roseville pre sale event paid $25.00 and it was crowded, people were bumping into each other constantly, staff was rude, items were very over priced, definitely will not attend another event. The venue was so small and stuffed, it was hot, it felt like a sauna, I would have been fine with all of it, even the over priced if staff were not so rude. And it was a constant experience with most of the employees... honestly if you have a once upon a child or Facebook marketplace would probably be a better deal. Finally, the selection was not great, I saw dirty dresses listed for $45.00 I was shocked, we also found several things that were priced more than the Amazon price online, it was pretty ridiculous... I really think these people are taking advantage of "bargain shoppers" if you do decided to attend one of these I would suggest looking up high ticket items on line to double check prices. Speaking for Gainesville,FL sale. This event is worth it for BUYERS, otherwise it's a huge waste of time. In none of the many many emails did I receive any info that you had to provide your own hangers. I did a lot of work tagging and to be honest I didn't feel like buying hangers just for them to disappear as no one keeps track of anything.. on top of the 60% of the funds you get from the sales, they partnered with a 3rd party company to receive your check and have to pay another 1.99%-2.99% just to direct deposit. I don't know why they can't just write checks themselves and mail them out. As a consigner I wouldn't waste my time again. read more

TL;DR 1. This review is from the perspective of a "consignor." 2. The sale is worth it for buyers but not so much if you're selling as a consignor. 3. Their system of selling, while very organized, will not earn you much money as a consignor unless you sell many of your items at a relatively high price. 4. If you're selling and want to "make" money, with less of the hassle, I would suggest other options. 5. As a personal pet peeve, hangers are provided by you, and are sold with the item. This wasn't clear for me, so I lost a bunch of new and pricey wooden pant hangers. BACKGROUND INFO I decided to sell with JBF because I had quite a few clothes (teenage styles/brands) sitting in my closet. To clarify, this sale is for NEW or LIKE new clothing and items that expectant mom's, babies, children, and teenagers use. Through the website, I signed up to be a consignor at the Sacramento JBF. Consignors get a baseline of 60% of the profit, minus an additional $15, but you can increase the money percentage, up to 70%, if you volunteer a certain number of hours. Tags and HANGERS are not provided, so consignors must buy the required white cardstock, 1 inch safety pins, and have access to a decent printer. Consignors also set their own prices, which are entered into an online account database. The minimum total item value to qualify for selling at the event is $50. They strictly enforce the rules of what can't and cannot be SOLD (Brands, item type, etc). The information varies per franchise location, so make sure to check the website of the specific branches. REVIEW In hindsight, I should have calculated and compared the profit I could receive to the time and effort I would have spend preparing the 57 items that I was trying to sell. For example, using the minimum $50 value of items, if I had sold everything without volunteering, I would have earned 60% of $35 ($50-consignor fee), which is $21. FOR THAT $21, I WOULD HAVE TO: 1. Spend a certain amount of time entering tag INFO (1 hour for me) 2. Buying white cardstock and safety pins (1 hour to store and back) 3. Printing and tagging the items (3 hours for 57 items, or 3 minutes per item) 4. Finding/buying the right hangers (1 hour to find pant hangers), which will be sold with the item. 5. Transporting everything during THE designated drop-off times 6. Picking up unsold items if I don't want to donate everything All the time and effort, just for $20. Get the basis of my annoyance? Anyways, 60% may sound like a lot, but be smart (unlike what I did) and factor in your time and effort, plus the retail value of your like-new/brand new items. Unless you have many, many items (I don't think there's a max), you can save a bunch of your time by directly donating all the stuff to people who need it, because you'll really only be getting 42% of whatever you sell. And unless you price your items extremely low (lower than the guide available on their website), you won't sell everything. read more

This is for the Fresno event as a buyer. I had gone a few years back, and I felt that most items were overpriced. Bought a few electronic items that didn't work and bought only a few toddler clothing items only to realize after I got home had stains on them. The line was about an hour long. Not worth my time or money, will never be returning to this event. Most of the uses clothing goes for $4-$5 bucks a pop, you can get brand new clothing at places like target and Carters for that same price range. read more

Portland sale is sooo NOT WORTH the hassle! You spend weeks washing and ironing items just to have them come back filthy. You enter dozens of tags just to have them disappear and have to be renentered a few months later. Items "misteriously" disappear that you never get paid for. When you add up what you spend on hangers, cardstock, ink, pins, tape, sixties, gas, consigner fee, "lost" items, and JBF's whopping 40% cut, you'll find that you probably LOSE money. You're better off just donating your items to charity for the tax write-off instead. read more

We went to the sale this past March 12, 2011. I am glad I did not have to pay to get into the sale. I sort of want my parking money back. The selection was not worth it. The clothing ( i looked at boys) were over priced The brands I mostly saw were carters, old navy, circo (target) and ranged form $4-6 a piece. I could get it brand new for that price, not to mention without the wash wear! Now, I know that the last day of the sale most things are 50% off which may explain the raised prices, but even at half off I would not pay for clothes in that condition. And after the sale, the sellers have the option of the company just donating whatever does not sell. Many tags showed this option. So to me, it seems like people were clearing their closets for the thrift store just to see what buck they can make. THe pictures on the JBF website is misleading. They show you a picture of TONS of baby gear, rows and rows, when in fact there is just a handful of each item, if that. The toy selection was OK. It felt like a thrift store and some of it were missing pieces or broken. My son wanted a toy but upon closer examination it was broken. I was excited about this sale, being my first time. I even dragged my husband along and convinced him to come with me. We were both sorely disappointed and would not return, either as a buyer or a seller. read more

If I could give 1/2 a star I would or even ZERO stars!! We just left here. Unfortunately, I made my whole family come and paid $5 for parking. I want my money back! You see people coming out with a HUGE bag of stuff, and it only sets the excitement more. But, the let down soon came. 1) OVERLY priced!!! What are people thinking?!?! The clothes, most were quite used. Stuff you could get for a $.25-$1.00 at a garage sale, probably started at $3.00... If you were lucky! Toys aren't even cleaned off, overpriced and dirty. 2) pics on craigslist misleading! There weren't rows. NO cribs. 3) OVERLY PRICED!! Oh wait did already say that?!?! Even when they do the day when everything is 50% off, it wouldn't even bring the price down enough to make it worth it! My advice: Sac has great garage sales, stick to the garage sales. Money will go much further!! Don't waste your time. People buying stuff must not know how awful those prices were. Poor them. read more

Just Between Friends, or JBF, is a consignment business that opens up periodically for fall/winter and spring/summer sales. The website, www.jbfsale.com has more info regarding upcoming events and locations. The merchandise sold is by consignment, and the people who work the events are volunteers. I've been a part of the events as both a consignor and volunteer and have had great experiences buying and selling things for my son. The pricing is whatever you set it to be, and the selection is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The largest sale just finished this past weekend at the Sacramento Convention Center and upcoming sales in April will be in Roseville and Folsom. Overall, this is a great organization that coordinates an opportunity for Momslikeme.com to get together and buy/sell stuff for our kids. I highly recommend it! read more

Just went to the Rocklin location March 2018. I went on day 2 in the evening. I found it to be a complete waste of time. Most clothing was outdated, stained, or priced outrageously high. I found a couple of old toys that were affordable, but then had to stand in line for almost an hour to check out. It was definitely not worth the time or money. There needs to be standards set as to what they do and do not accept. I'd start with clothing that was made after year 2010 (some clothes looked like they were from 1990) and no stains present. read more

I recently participated in the Spring/Summer sale and was a bit skeptical but I was pleasantly surprised. I sold items as well as shopped the event. A large majority of my items sold, roughly half full price and half during the 50% off sale. The drop off process was much easier, and quicker, than I expected. I found a handful of clothing items, a couple of toys and a Thomas train table for 1/3 the price! Some of the clothes were brand new with tags, and some were not in the best condition (in my opinion). There was definitely a much larger selection of clothing for girls. There was a great selection of toys ( I found a brand new Toy Story game which my son loves) and some outdoor items as well (bikes, basketball hoops, wagons). I had a shop early pass so I didn't have to deal with the crowds. My only complaints were: 1. Checkout. There were only 3 people in front of me and I stood in line for about 10 minutes because everyone in front of me had wagons full of items whereas I had maybe 10 items. So be prepared to wait in line as I noticed most people had bags/wagons full of goodies. 2. Large Items. I noticed some of the larger items had "Sold" signs on them. I asked a worker where I could get one of the sold signs to place on the item I wanted and she didn't explain it very well to me. She said there was a table where you could fill out the sold slip and then place it on your item. (No such table existed). So I found someone who else who explained that underneath the tag on the item was a sold slip to fill out. Bottom line, you can find some great deals but you have to be willing to pilfer through the enormous selection of items. Also, be prepared to wait in line. I would not recommend bringing your children to the sale as I imagine most people would be there for a couple of hours. It's definitely worth checking out, if you're skeptical of buying used clothes there are still great deals on toys and outdoor gear. read more

I am a BUYER and SELLER at multiple JBF sales. I like this method of buying and selling! I haven't shopped for kids clothes or shoes in retail stores for YEARS! ALL 3 of my kids' clothes and shoes come from these consignment sales! What you have to understand is that even though JBF is a franchise, each sale is only as good as its OWNER and VOLUNTEERS. I have 2 different sale owners in my area and boy can you tell the difference! One of the sale owners runs 4-5 sales per season and she ROCKS! Her sales are clean and organized and the clothes, shoes and toys are checked and pulled in they are too worn, stained, old etc.. :) The other sale owners (2 people) run 3-4 sales per season and their sales are disorganized, messy and they DO NOT check for stains, wear, age etc! It's really a shame because with some additional effort those sales could be great too, but the owners just don't run it well. :( The other thing that buyer should know is that the sellers decide the price of each item and if they want to discount it on 50% off day. The prices will vary A LOT because each seller chooses their own price and discount settings (this is true of any pop up consignment sale). The owner of the sale has absolutely no control over the prices or what the sellers bring to the sales (though they do decide if they will quality check the items brought or not). If you only come to the sale on 50% off day, you will still find some great deals but you may have to hunt for them. By discount day most of the best stuff at the best prices is already gone. Please don't judge an entire sale on what you see on the last day (discount day) of the sale. Also, don't assume ALL JBF sales are the same - they are NOT. I just recently cosigned for jbf and had done a previous Rhae lanas cosigner event which i like alot better. I gave it a two star because i didn't find alot of things that were that nice and i got to shop early since I volunteered. I think their website is horrid as far as cosigning goes...and trying to pin cardstock to items is pretty hard at times, whereas a clothing tag is alot less hassle. I went into volunteer and it was pretty unorganized. I wasnt sure what to do and everyone I met told me something different. One lady told me if i saw something i like to put it "in the work room" so I can buy it when im done with my shift. Well I got informed that we were not allowed to do that after I had an arm full of items and I had seen a bunch of other people doing so. I also got told the work room was not where we put our items we want and proceeded to tell me to put stuff "over there" so i did, which was also wrong. It frustrated me because this was my first time ever shopping and or volunteering for jbf and it did not go well and to me was a huge mess. I came in with high hopes that this would be better than the rhae lanas event but to me was not worth all my time and effort. I proceeded to not finish my volunteering because you also cant bring your children no matter what age so if you have no sitter you are sol. Which I also did not realize. Not only that if I was supposed to go back to an unorganized "volunteer shift" you can count me out. read more

As a shopper: I Loved shopping at this event at first, my favorite was the 50% off sale, never seen a crowd there however. Baby equipment goes fast, but there seemed to be tons of toys. Prices rack up fast though. Lately I've noticed prices of items going up at these sells, what I would have seen last year for $2-$3 I would now see for $6-$8. Equipment seemed a little high now too, but if you look hard enough you might find a good deal. Just take your time and be patient. These sales do take patience. As a seller: HAHAHAHAHAHA GOOD LUCK! I signed up to sell, entered 50 items, which included playpen with changing table and diaper stacker etc. I sold 50% of my items which I was happy about. Then at the end of the sale I got a phone call asking me if I wanted to sell my left over items to them, which I said sure to. I spent a lot of times hanging items, running to fedex to print items, running to target for hangers and safety pins. Then running across town to turn in my items. Two weeks after sale ends I receive my check, which was supposed to be 60% profit, which through me off cause I though sense I donated left over items it would be 70% but no they said 60%. Then they charged me $10 for donating my items at the end (which made me mad for getting charged for donating). So in my end check I received less then 40% of my sold items profit. So about 10-20% of everything is what I made. Then they said they only chose to buy 2 of my left over items and paid 25cents each. JUST VERY DISAPPINTED AND WONT DO IT AGAIN. read more

I've been going to JBF both fall and Spring since I was pregnant with my first in 2010. The first year I thought it was awesome and got tons of great deals. But the last few sales I've seen things way overpriced. No one is going to pay $12 for your used Circo (Target) PJs. Or $20 for your worn-out, faded t-shirt just because it says Gymboree. This hasn't just been in the bigger sizes either, I saw the same thing happening in the infant boys this year. This means less good deals, which seems to mean less shoppers. And in turn that means as a consigner I didn't sell as much. I've seen lines out the door at prior JBF sales, this time that wasn't a problem and we waited maybe 15 minutes at the 50% off night. I have only come to the events as a shower not a sales person, some of the pieces are over priced for a consignment sale or dirty/stained. However if u are willing to take the time to look through everything and take your time you can find great deals. The downtown location is a bit hard though raking can be expensive if you can't find street parking so keep that in consideration read more

Meh. I was pretty disappointed with the selection, granted I went on the last day. They had 50% items without a star , no idea how they decide which items do/don't get their end of sale discount. Seriously OVERPRICED. $40 for a play kitchen, no accessories, no cool features, $185 for a mamaroo bouncer... many of the toys were $10-15 that were not complete sets ... clothing looked bleh and I'm sorry im not paying $1.50 for a shirt that looks like it's gone though 4 kids... used board books for $3? Really? Apparently I will be sticking to yard sale sites and buying mostly new clothing since you can get things super cheap on clearance for barely more that they are charging.... they also had lots of brand new Melissa and Doug toys for just a few dollars less then they sell them in stores and that isn't a great deal... you can get them at target or Joanns with a coupon for a better price.... pretty disappointing.... read more

After shopping here a few times, its getting a little brutal to do it during the summer months. The event at McClellan and Roseville Fairgrounds were just WAY too hot. I wouldve spent more time shopping but the heat on one of the rooms and was so unbearable. My son was with me one of the times and he ended up with a horrible case of heat rash. Bleh. read more

My rating depends on if you're shopping or a consigner with JBF. We've had a great shopping experience in the past. However, I can't say the same for consignment with them. It's very time consuming to prep your items for the sale. The drop off and pick up of items is not friendly for working parents. And, they try to scam you out of money and items. 10 of my items were pulled off of the rack for stains, but when I picked them up only 4 of the items stains could be found. We were charged 50 cents per item pulled meaning I paid $4 for stains that couldn't be found. We had multiple items "go missing" from the sale. And other people unsold items were placed in my stack. I can only imagine the same happened with some of my stuff. JBF talks a big game about how great it is to sell with them, but honestly, I was very disappointed. I'll never consign with JBF again. I actually lost money with them if I factor in the cost of supplies that I needed for prepping the items and the consigner free. read more

Today was my third time there. I didn't choose many items, a few toys and about 10 pieces of toddler clothes. Had to stand in line for nearly 2 hrs! I can't believe i wasted more than 2.5hrs of my time so i can save a couple of bucks! You can imagine my frustration when leaving that place! I liked the first time i went there in Sring 2013. As a first time parent I was able to shop during pre-sale on Thur. Even though I found most of the stuff pretty over-priced, there were some great bargains (like a toddler bike for $40, retail $110). In general, prices are not much different than at places like Once Upon a Child. However, the other two times were a disappointment. I wasn't able to shop on Thur as im not a co-signer, so did it on Fri. The selection of items was terrible (in terms of quality, not quantity), most of the stuff so worn out or poor quality, to the point I would be ashamed to sell it ($3-5 for an old and faded toddler t-shirt is a rip off! and I thought only large corporations have a greedy streak). Anyway, overpriced, worn-out and somewhat poor quality items are not worth of paying for parking and waiting in line for two hours. The name of the event is "just between friends" sale, but in my opinion it's just poor moms trying to make an extra buck at the expense of other poor moms. Sorry if it sounds mean. I guess, my advise would be: become a co-signer (but please, use common sense when pricing your used items), so you can can shop during pre-sale. Otherwise, it's not worth your money, time, and energy. PS I mostly looked at items for 1-3 year old boy. there seemed to be a larger selection of girl's clothes. I haven't shop at the 50% off sale, but could only imaging that selection of items would be even worse at that point and not worth buying at even 50% read more

Just between friends is THE best invention! I'm a little leary buying any items off craigslist for my first baby and this was the best answer. The event held in Folsom is so well run & organized. I can't wait for just between friends next event in Folsom because it will be held in a much bigger place, the sports complex. I'm even going to consign some maternity clothes! Went to the Sacramento sale on 10/19/2013. Very disappointing. The photos online are misleading. At 10 a.m. the merchandise looked like a picked over garage sale and the prices for used clothing were outrageous. These ladies need to frequent the local Thrift Town or Goodwill which often have the same quality of clothing for 50% to 75% less in price. $5.50 for a used pair of PJs with stained footies is pathetic. Toys and strollers and pretty much EVERYTHING can be bought at the local used baby stores for much less. Even at the advertised half price sale for Saturday evening and Sunday there is not much to return for. $3.00 for a used VCR tape? Please, Goodwill has the same for $1.00 and their Veteran's Day sale was half off that. AND, they need to advertise bring your own shopping bags. One dollar for a used, dirty IKEA bag is ridiculous. read more
