The staff here is knowledgeable, courteous and patient. They helped me find a perfect replacement for a SWITCH LED lightbulb that was purchased over a decade ago. And since replacing one wasn't an option, all the bulbs for a craftsman dining room fixture needed to be replaced, (for esthetic reasons). Funny thing is, once they ran up the order, they were able to find my original purchase of these SWITCH bulbs, 13 years ago. I did though remember Just Bulbs being the place to go for bulbs, especially when you need them for more than just light. The beauty of Just Lightbulbs is that they can look at a random bulb, identify it, advise you on the recommended wattage and find the bulb in their stock. Absolutely the most reliable source for all sorts of lightbulbs. They pick their phone, answer emails, and absolutely on point when you go there in person. I have been using Just Bulbs from 2007 and completely rely on them for all light bulb needs. They also gladly recycle bulbs, which is great because the longer the last the more mercury they carry so safe disposal is very important. Wow, what a poor experience with Just Bulbs. I paid for my lamp to get fixed, and they returned it dusty, with a scratch, and still broken. When I asked them to please pick up the lamp & re-do the job correctly, they wanted to charge me for pickup. When I asked for the delivery charge to be reconsidered (since they didn't fix the lamp the 1st time), the manager/electrician gave me a healthy dose of attitude, with an extra side of rude. Hard pass on this business--they are certainly not the only lamp repair store in town. I called to let them know it wasn't working and was told that their electrician would call me back. After 2 days of no calls, I brought the dimmer back to the store. If it were possible to give 10 stars I would. After a disasterous few hours with an incompetent company that I hired to install two vintage chandeliers that I bought on ebay, who sent one man who did not even come with a ladder and worked for two hours before walking out and saying he could not do it, I went to the store to ask if they knew anyone. They told me that they install chandeliers. Two wonderful experts came with a ladder and all the right tools, including ones to test all the lamp parts and the ceiling outlet before installation, checked the old wiring, and spent a few hours doing it perfectly, while charging an incredibly low fixed price ($75/chandelier) compared to others. read more

He spent an inordinate amount of time FIXING one flashlight (even tho I told him it was OK, he could stop). Having gotten that one fixed (it was broken, didn't even need a bulb), he figured out the battery type of one small flashlight and that another one was unalterably broken. He must have spent 30 minutes helping me, working this all out --- and refused to take any payment (I needed no bulbs so had nothing to buy.) After a bad day, he restored my faith in human beings. I went there three times, two times they recommended me wrong bulbs for my track lights (even when I gave them, the correct dimension and an accurate picture, from the track light) so I needed to go there two times to exchange them, one of the employees, was assaulting me, why I was not hanging out, that much in midtown and wasn't able to return them earlier, which was super inappropriate. My wife and I went in over the weekend to look for an Edison style bulb for our apartment. When we couldn't decide what would fit the salesman (who was actually quite nice) told us to take both home and just return them if they didn't work. Upon paying we also asked about the no returns sign and were told if we came back with the receipt it would NOT be a problem. Sure enough the bulbs weren't quite right for us and when I tried to return them 2 days later I was told I could only get a store credit - what am I going to do with a $45 store credit for light bulbs!?! I didn't even need to look for the bulb because as soon as I stepped in this dude immediately asked me what I needed, I handed him the lamp, he tested the bulb and four minutes later I was outta there with a few years worth of lighting. When Just Bulbs was down on Broadway and 22 Street, I thought it was the greatest place, and I cried when it closed. Somehow, I never knew they opened up in a new location, and when I learned about it recently, I jumped for joy! Of all the lighting stores in Manhattan, Just Bulbs has got to be the best at what it does - stock all sorts of bulbs and items relating specifically to bulbs. I stepped into the shop and spoke with the store owner about the chandelier in my apartment. I was able to find converters from standard to chandelier bulbs (for some reason, my chand has standard bulb fittings) as well as low wattage candelier bulbs I couldn't find elsewhere. I mean, 5 watts? You can't even find that stuff at Home Depot! They also have a great selection of regular bulbs, halogen, CFLs, carbon filament and more. A sign outside said they also fix lamps and other lighting fixtures. But please, don't ask if they have lamps - they sell JUST BULBS! Earlier this year, I spent $45 at this store for three bulbs. One died after six months. I called the manufacturer, who said I needed to contact the retailer. The bulb had a two year warranty. I called several times and emailed without much response. Finally, the owner wrote back to ask if I had put the bulb in a three-way light fixture (I hadn't). I mailed back the bulb for replacement. Then, finally, I was mailed a replacement, but the bulb that they mailed back didn't work either. It's obviously not the fixture, because the other identical bulb I bought from them still works. I don't see how you can manage to mail back a light bulb that doesn't work to replace one that wasn't working. It might have been the same bulb for all I know.
