I often have to run errands for my job, and this is one of the stops I end up at. It's such a treat whenever I go in. They have everything. An extensive selection of lightbulbs to housewares to cute gift options. Each time the staff is beyond helpful. When I go in they immediately ask me what I need. The line is never more than one person long, as someone always hops on a register to assist you immediately. Finally made it to this place, after meaning to check it out for quite some time. Wonderful staff there, and...plenty of them at that. Why go to a place like BB&B and have to traverse acres of floor space, only to have the one store rep you come across, direct you to the whole other side of the floor, pointing 'it's over there somewhere'? Expensive? Yes! One of a kind cool and unusual items, yes! Standard household needs, yes! A long time asset to the neighborhood, yes! When I was coveting my daughter's cute Red Small Kitchen Garbage Can I found it here. It was a while ago so they may not have them now. I may have checked on line first. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here if you're not in the neighborhood. But if you find yourself on lovely Madison Avenue for some reason you may enjoy a visit to S Feldman Housewares. On Easter Sunday I had a household mishap and broke a random but essential item. I scoured online for what I needed and not only couldn't find what I wanted locally, but I had to order in multiples that made no sense. S. Feldman to the rescue!! I have only had two small purchases with this company so far. They are definately on my list for future considerations. I had a problem with my second parcel. It was a" no one's fault " situation -parcel was returned to sender because of wrong zip code ?! Reviewing the order, neither I, nor S Feldman's entered the erroneous information ? ( oh the anxiety ) These amazing folks 1st of all - ANSWERED THEIR PHONE ! After the shock of reaching a human receded, I told my story.The gentleman reviewed/confirmed what happened and THEN took ownership of the problem. He immediately created a new order for me, & shipped it to a preferred (& different) address. The same day !! In a bizarre turn of events, the Post Office self-corrected & delivered the original parcel to my home. OY ! S Feldman's continued their epic customer service by sending me a pre-paid return label. In 2022 or any year I am so gratified and overjoyed really, to stumble across a company with great products and unsurpassed follow up. I am the least "handy" person I know so Feldman is a godsend. I can bring them a photo of a bulb or explain what I'm trying to do and they'll find the solution on one of their well stocked shelves. Polite and friendly staff makes this housewares emporium stand out. It's stuffed with stuff, and it can be difficult to negotiate the aisles, especially on weekends. Half hardware store (meaning they've got everything, but you'll need help to find it), half gift shop (of the clever tchotchka variety). They do SodaStream canister exchanges, a rarity for small local shops. To be clear, this Feldman's and the one at Lexington and 83rd used to be owned by the same man; now they are owned by relatives but are otherwise unconnected. I appreciated it when a clerk here kindly gave me the phone number for the other location when they were out of stock of the item I wanted. However, I did notice that identical items stocked by both stores are much more expensive here. On the one hand, some in this neighborhood won't notice or care. He asked me questions that I hadn't even thought about. He gave me a price quote and I left. He called me later that day to say that the work was done. I lost my phone at around 90th and went inside to ask the staff to possibly use their phones to help me find mine, but they went above and beyond and one of the workers (Chris if I remember correctly) went out to look for it while another let me borrow his phone to call mine. From the usual bakeware to quirky salt and pepper shakers and to more advanced cooking items like kitchen torches (my roommate woudl have killed me if I got this one considering I almost blew up the toaster oven and microwave) and milk frothers. I went there and they could not be more professional, courteous and kind. They were able to repair my vacuum cleaner while I waited and the price was very reasonable. I have been going here for years. They stock very high quality items for kitchen & bath, as well as interesting little gift items. They also stock replacement light bulbs in hard-to-find sizes. I have had my vacuum cleaner repaired by them twice, they have a quick turnaround time & good repair prices. While some complain of high prices, they tend to have very high quality items. I purchased a German step ladder there that is incredibly light, folds up to 3" in my closet, and has been fabulous. Was it expensive? Yes, but well worth it. I would say the same about the store in general. They deliver, are very friendly and offer lots of good advice to customers. They will tell you if they have a cheaper alternative that does the same job. I wish there were more places like it around. read more

I am actually giving my name so this is totally transparent. I'm Al Sapienza. Don't let Feldman repair anything. Go to Basic Plus for Miele Vacuum Repairs. Feldman proved to be totally unethical and rude. I just got off the phone with Miele Corporate. My vacuum lost power. Feldman told me it was a power cord and it had to be replaced. They told me it was very common with the Capricorn Model. (Miele said the exact opposite. "That they seldom break") I agreed for Feldman to repair cord for $200! After repairing power cord Feldman said once the vacuum was powered, they determined that the POWER SWITC on the hose was bad they and they wanted an additional $300 to replace the hose! Miele said that was ridiculous. They should have powered the vacuum with another cord and figured out what the problem was before they put in a new power cord for $200. And that the odds of both parts breaking at the same time was almost impossible. And Miele also said Feldman's prices were too high anyway. Stay away from these people. Not nice or honest! Miele is contacting them and making sure they stay in the perimeters of remaining an authorized service rep. read more
