This store is named just fish. It had many kinds of fish, beardies, birds, snakes, ferrets and rabbits. It also has abused animals, not clean cages, fish tanks full of algee, cages with weeks worth of poop in it and turtles with things floating around hitting them. When I first walked in it small bad, there is many flies and animals in very small cages where they don't fit. It made me sick by the condition they were in. They had the goldfish with huge eyes which are from breeding. Those fish die fast because it effects its life. read more

This is the most vile disgusting business I have ever been to in my life. The second you open the door you feel like your being transported into a morgue, the rotting flesh and feces scent smacks you in the face. I honestly think they will have to burn it down to rid the plaza of that smell. There are always dead fish floating in every tank, the animal cages are filthy riddled with feces and decaying rotting food. How this place is not shut down is beyond me. But trust me I have tried for the sake of these animals. The owners are rude and grumpy. This is the dirtiest pet store I have ever been in (and I have been in several, different cities and states). The woman who we spoke with to inquire about a specific type of reptile was extremely rude. She then proceeded to try to sell us a reptile that was in the back of the store that looked like she kept living in a deli cup! If I could give 0 stars I would. Not because of the rudeness, or the dead fish in the tanks, or the serious overgrowing algae problem that seems to persist in every tank of the store. I have to given 0 stars because of this stores blatant irresponsibility. I did some research regarding small fish that could go in in 10 gallon tank and live peacefully. I decided to go with dwarf gouramis. I asked the clerk at the store several questions regarding the temperament of these fish. I explained that I had a 10 gallon tank heated to 78 Fahrenheit and explained that I had a current ecosystem that had been cycling for about two weeks including two small ghost shrimp to test the environment. I ended up buying two fish from the same tank at the store. They were fine for two days, and then I noticed one of them had a bulging belly, evident that he'd eaten on of the shrimp along with continuing to bully the other. It's heartbreaking to watch, so I called the store and explained that one of the fish was bullying the other and asked if I could return it. The clerk at the store said they would take it as a donation, but would not refund my money. It's very unfortunate that in an event like this where someone is trying to be responsible, and protect a being, it is met with greediness and irresponsibility. These people are kind to your face, but all they're interested in is making obscene amounts of money from sick fish and aren't responsible enough to take care of issues they create. I wish I could give 0 star for this review. Just Fish is a horrible store. My daughter went there to get a filter for her fish and it makes really loud noise. They recommended this filter to her and told her it's the best and if anything wrong, she can just bring it back to the store. So she brought it back to the store and they told her to contact the manufacturer and refused to refund her. And people are really rude there. I just called the store and the lady on the phone was super rude and started to yell after a little while. This is ridiculous!!! It's not the right way to treat your customers! read more

I don't like this store, they only care about money and not treating animals close to correctthey overcrowd the fish tanks and don't care for the mammals or turtles correctly. They don't change the labels for what fish are in the tanks so it's hard to know what the fish are if you don't know what they are. They don't customize the tanks at all for the fish and don't think about how each fish has different needs. This is true for all the animals they just use common knowledge about the animals they have even though some of that is just fake or bad. I always do a ton of research before I get any animals and it's so easy to find good information and just basic needs but they just seem lazy and they don't care about the animals. I was talking to someone who worked there and I was saying how this isn't the proper care for the animals and he said they will be sold soon so they are fine where they are even though it's not good for the animals. They person also said that animals can live in very small cages as long as you clean it enough. They also said that they don't care what the people do with the animal because it's up to them. They also don't even try to inform you about the animals needs or proper care they will just sell you the animal and an incredibly small cage. They said if they cared about the animal enough then they would give it proper care but people buy it either way so it doesn't matter as long as they get the money. They only care about making money and not supporting animal care. Don't support this place. I purchased a fancy goldfish from them and it had lice and I just found out it had anchor worms and I'm surprised they sold me a fish in such a bad condition so now I am spending 4 times as much money as I spent on the fish. I haven't supported them after that and I will never buy anything from them again if I want it to live or be helpful to me pets I've been trying to support this business as it has been getting better I had been going in very often and buying things frequently. Today I went in and was disrespected by an employee and in an area that I know a lot about. I was looking at an animal that I own and give everything I can to it. And the lady said she saw using the security system that I was doing something I'm not supposed to do. I was looking and interacting with the animal. Not hurting it or trying to do anything to it. I have been to this store often and most of the employees know me by name. Then she said it was my nail polish and that it's bad for my animals also. I explained I don't let them touch my nails and that I paint them outside away from them and let them dry completely before going back inside. Then she shook her head and walked away. Please open a location in Orlando. I was going to Just Fish in Bear, DE for many years. I loved the selections of fish and the fact that each person that works there is extremely knowledgeable. If in fact there is something they don't know they will find out. I still go there when up seeing my family just for brainstorming at what is going to be next for my new tanks. Just Fish, with Carleen, Kevin, and Perry taught me how to be successful with not just Freshwater but Saltwater and African Cichlids as well. Sadly when I moved to Florida, I had to give up most of my tanks. I am rebuilding finally after 12 years and I have called the store and still get assistance. I really wish they would open a location down here. In Orlando, we are stuck to Pet** and *** Smart. I hate it. Small businesses that know what they are doing, are fantastic at educating/walking customers through issues step by step until they are successful and actually care about their animals are few and far between. I have read some other reviews and of course, each person is entitled to their opinion. I will close with this, I am 51 years old and had my first tank when I was 10 years old, so 41 years with the hobby. I would recommend this store without hesitation to the newcomer or the well-versed hobbyist. I don't know if I mentioned it, but PLEASE open a location in Orlando. read more

Went in with a list of things I needed to get to set up my saltwater tank. I feel like everything was over priced, never mind that two of the things I asked specifically for (DRY aragonite & RoDi water) were not provided. Instead, I got live aragonite (which I later found out was double the price) & freshwater with a box of salt. I don't think I would have been so upset had I not specifically showed the text messages from my friend with the list of supplies I needed to the employee. Unfortunately I never got her name. I should have trusted my gut & gone elsewhere. When my son was interested in goldfish, we got next to no help from the staff at Just Fish. I'll be going elsewhere from now on. read more

Conditions are appalling compared to other fish stores in the area. Tanks are small and incredibly dirty. Borderline animal cruelty. Purchased live food that was not particularly lively. Would strongly suggest Delaware's Premium Aquatics in Newark, DE off rt. 4 as an alternative. read more

Great family owned business with great people who are engaged in helping you to make the right decision for your home, business, and budget. They have a wide selection of exotic fish and provide tank service to local businesses. As of now I have a small tank but I am looking forward to having them provide service for my salt water tank when I get it. read more

Typical pet store. They have a fair selection of aquarium fish including African and new world cichlids but the prices are ridiculous. If you're looking for basic tropical fish you can just go to Petsmart or Petco and save a lot of money. However if you're looking for South or Central American cichlids then I would suggest you go online to such places like Jeff Rapps or wet spot. Just google buying fish online and you will do much better and get higher quality Fish. As far as buying marine fish you are better off going online as well the prices at this location are extremely high. As for the rest of the store itself it's rather dirty and smells like the rodents that they sell such as rabbits and small animals. If you insist on buying at a local fish store then I would suggest going to Pet Kare 2 which is just down the road off route 40. At least the prices are reasonable. read more

Nice selection of aquarium fish and the associates are moderately knowledgeable. Was sold a puffer fish as a "freshwater" fish when it really should have been in brack-ish water. Wish they would have told me the correct answer instead of telling me what I wanted to hear - would have still purchased the fish and simply acclimated my tank. Tanks aren't kept very clean, but that is to be expected I suppose. read more

Probably the worst pet store in the area. I happened to go in on a hot day, and they just had the doors open - no air conditioning, and it was very hot inside. I'm sure the tank temperatures were too high. The tanks are always dirty, with dead and half eaten fish just sitting in them. It's gross, no way would I purchase their fish. The poor guinea pigs in those awful cages were not looking so good. There's one cage with several guinea pigs that is completely solid except for a few holes along the back wall - that's all the air flow they get! There were flies all over the place, it was really gross. There are a few other wire-type cages sitting around, one had tons of poop just sitting on the shelves! There's a monitor in a tank with a bowl with a very small amount of dirty water. I left this day, came back a few days later and the poop was still there and bowl with the dirty water had not changed! The tanks and cages in the back for their breeding animals are truly disgusting and seriously overcrowded. I was curious and wanted to see some of their rats. The guy I talked to didn't even know the difference between a Standard and Dumbo rat. He would only show me one little rat, and said to come back in a week to see more. So, I did. Another lady was there, right off the bat she didn't seem like she wanted to deal with rats. She went to the back, then came out and said she couldn't show me any rats because it would stress out the moms. She told me to come back in a week. I told her that's what I was told last time, and what I did, and she said "Oh well". I feel like they have quite a bit they'd like to hide, and I do not plan to ever go back to this store. Steer clear - Petsmart or Petco is a far better choice than this disgusting store! read more

This place has an amazing supply of fresh and salt water fish. Every single fish in there is fat and happy. The tanks aren't ornate or huge but they are all clean and the fish are healthy- that certainly means more than "pretty" set-ups. Of course there's a fish smell but it's a FISH store. They also have rabbits and other small pets that seem well cared for. What earned this store it's 5 star rating, however, is the service. The girl that helped me was AWESOME. She answered every question I had and then some. I've asked the same questions at petco, petsmart and the like and never got straight- educated answers. These people know their animals and are eager to educate others. I would recommend it over any other fish store in the Delmarva region. read more
