Petco in Newark has walkins for nails clipping now went in today called first they told me come in got there and someone came in for a full grooming so my dog was you gotta sit and wait. That's not how it works it takes all of 5 minutes to trim dog nails. Want be going back! Petco is without a doubt the worst establishment for people and pets. The place is very filthy and the people are gruff. Overall this is a very disorganized operation. Approximately a week ago I had complained to the manager and was told that the district manager would call me back in regards to my problem. I still have not heard back from the district manager. If the district manager doesn't care how does he expect the employees to care? The answer is easy - they don't care and it shows in everything Petco does. Do not do business with a sloppy operation as you may be sorry like I was. I'm still waiting for the district manager to call me to find out what it takes to get that place back in order! read more

Please do not ever take your dogs to this location for grooming. I took my French bulldog for a full service with extra nail service (which they pushed and said he needed).....couple days later he has infections on all four of his paws because they cut his nail too short. I would never pay for a service to hurt my frenchie and I recommend anyone to read this review before they sent their dog to this location for grooming or any service. The groomer estimated my dogs full groom to be only three hours. After four hours, my dog was still not groomed and had sat in a cage That entire time. I received no updates or calls. My dog is absolutely traumatized and is still shaking. I was still expected to pay for a bath (which I could've done at home). We will NEVER go back here. read more

I am not one to write reviews. However, after the experience I had at PetCo, I felt it was necessary. While strolling through the store picking out some different things, I stumbled upon the cat treats and saw that there was a special on the temptations brand treats. The bags of these specific flavored treats were priced at .40 cents. I grabbed 10 bags figuring I would be paying $4. Since I purchased a large amount of items, it didn't surprise me that the bill was a bit high. However, when looking at the price of the treats on the receipt I saw I paid $2 a bag! Typically I would just ignore this but I bought 10 bags. I went back into the store and explained the issue to the Cashier, Brendan, who was a delight (5 stars for him!). He happily called over his manager, Pete, and this is when the issue began. I took a picture of the price tag listed at .40 cents and explained the issue to him as well. Instead of apologizing, he made me feel as though I was WRONG. I explained that the brand matched the price in the aisle, and he then directed the cashier to give me only THREE bags for .40 cents each, and to pay full price for the rest. He proceeds to walk away, check the price tag, and come back MUMBLING under his breath saying my friends and I must've made a mistake/it was discontinued. No apology, nothing. Sure, I know places can make mistakes with pricing. However, there was no APOLOGY and I took the liberty of matching the numbers on the price label with the numbers on the receipt and they were IDENTICAL. I am truly disappointed with my experience at PetCo and would like something to be done about this. This was my first experience at the groomer here at Petco. I must say that I was 100% totally satisfied with the service provided for Toto (my Tibetan Spaniel). He was very comfortable with the staff and he looked amazing when they were done grooming him. Maura was the stylist and she very kind and professional. Shari, the manager was exceptional. Do not get your dog groomed here if you want it back safe. The grooming salon manager drinks on the job and regularly injures animals and store management refuses to do anything to fix the problem. It's dirty inside and many of the animals end up sick due to poor care. They are understaffed and most of the staff are under informed. The dog trainer is also someone to avoid. She is rude, curt, very fake, and cares only about the bottom dollar. With all the flaws this location has you just can't beat the prices but you might want to check your dry food products for worms and moths before you leave. read more

Horrible store. Items are always out of stock, no one offers to help you, if u ask an employee for help they are clueless. Just today went to get my online order and of course 1 item was out of stock and the cashiers gave me a dirty look when I had to interrupt their personal conversation because they refused to acknowledge me standing there. The products are good, but with the combination of a slightly higher price and unwelcoming staff that makes even trying to buy a fish a hassle I much prefer the PetSmart in Christiana over this establishment. The staff here barely says Hi and when you ask for help it seems as though you are just bothering them. Not thrilled with our last few experiences here. read more

Today was my second attempt at exchanging a pet taxi. I wanted to exchange it for a bigger one because my cat was too big to fit. The first attempt I brought the taxi with the box two days after I received it and spoke to both an associate and the manager, Mike, they both stated I needed to print out the confirmation from my email with the price I paid. So I went and printed it out and returned to the store for the second time a week later. Before I even walked in the door I saw the same "manager" look at me and turn and run to he back of the store. I then spoke to the same associate with the confirmation in hand and she called Mike to the front. He comes up and looks at the paper for literally a second and says it isn't the right document I need. After speaking with him about it for a moment he stated I never spoke with him before and he doesn't know who I spoke to before. After saying this the associate I spoke to admitted that I did speak to both her and Mike. After arguing with him for a minute or two he stated there was nothing he could do and walked away. The point of my story is that all I wanted to do was exchange my item for a bigger one and pay the difference. It is amazing that he refused to help in any way. I have nothing against Petco products but they definitely need to reevaluate their employees in the Christiana location; they are unprofessional and moronic. A note for anyone that shops there or plans to shop there: avoid the manager MIKE. He will ignore what ever it is you need and refuse to help. read more

This store is emptier and more run down than any other petco I've been to. Do not go here for dog training with Dana. She is rude and judgemental about how you treat your dog. Not just with me, but she's rude to other people to. And more importantly, she didn't show up to teach classes randomly and would teach the same things in multiple classes because she forgot what we had done the week before read more

Petco offered a nice cat tree on their website for $119 + free shipping. Went to this Petco location first and found the identical item ON SALE for $152. Inquired with the manager, who politely but somewhat condescendingly told us in essence, sorry, if you want that price, you can only buy it online. We adopted 2 cats from this Petco location and have been buying special food there for one of them, but did not like this condescension. Especially in this day and age with a proliferation of online sites and options. If the manager could have done something, shame on him: if he could not, shame on Petco for having a policy like this. Also went to another Petco thinking it was a competitor, and the service there was only slightly better. The $119 we would have gladly spent right there and then has now gone to Amazon.com more on principle than anything else. Fortunately, Petco is not the only place that sells my cat's food. read more
