I had booked with Just Hair due to not being able to get in with my regular hair lady in time for a trip (that is my fault completely). I called roughly a week before the appointment I made. I talked to the receptionist, explained to her that I am currently blonde, have a lot of hair, and long hair, and that I am looking to go platinum/ all over color. She quoted me "$150 for all over color, possible $175 but [she] never saw it go over $200". We booked for 10:45 am. Day of appointment, I get a call from the salon and the stylist saying that they won't have time to do an all over color and if I can please come in at 10 instead, which I did. When the stylist saw my hair, she said that my hair made it a lot easier to get it platinum. She asked if I wanted root to end or highlights. I was confused; I didn't know that root to end meant all over color, as the second receptionist told me, with attitude. My stylist did my hair and I ended up paying over double what I would have paid for a partial at my normal hair lady, which I would have been able to book with her had I known that this appointment was going to be a partial highlight. I paid $160 for partial highlights, and I felt like I paid more for less work. I felt duped and called the salon back. I made it clear that I do like my hair; it looks how it normally looks, just touched up. I wanted a bold change though. That what I thought I was paying for. The woman who answered seemed empathetic during my explanation of what happened. She took down my name and number, and said she would talk to the owner and call back. When she called back she had an attitude and told me that my stylist went over everything with me; which she really didn't since I was telling her I wanted all over color and still ended up with highlights. She told me that since I liked my hair there was nothing she could do for me, and hung up on me. Again, my stylist did great. It was exactly what I already had, just touched up. My problem is that I came in expecting a bold change, being quoted a price range for a service, and left paying double for my average hair color. If you chose to come to Just Hair, PLEASE take my advice, and make sure you do not let them touch your hair until you are positive how much you are going to be paying and what you are getting. The bad review is more for how the second woman I spoke to, talked to me. If she had just explained things in a nice way, and not got an attitude then I understand and would have just appreciated the education for next time. Instead she was rude, and hung up on me. I have had my hair done here several times over a year. At first I thought ok. Nice stylist. But the salon is lesson than beautiful. Very average. Needs an update. You don't feel welcome nor do you feel like you're having a good time. I want to relaxed and feel invited. A little pampered too. Reception is nice but very bad at return calls. My hair was always just okay. Way too much bleeding of color. I thought I'll give it one more try. Use a new stylist since the one I want never calls me back or is available. I HAD hair down to my low back (beautiful and i just needed 3 inches off). I asked for 3 inches off she took 6 or more. Where is my hair? I asked for highlights AND low lights. While Sonya was doing my hair I told her several times my hair takes to color really well. Don't you think we should take my hair out of the processing since it's been several hours?. I noticed she was only using bleach and not the low lights too. 6 hours later with some of my hair totally bleached white. NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR. Very very little low lights and damaged hair. I look like an old lady. I went in to have her fix it. She never apologized. She argued with me about the white. I have no natural hair pigment, it's white. That's bleach. And around my face. The only thing she apologized for was the haircut. I am in front of people for a living. Now have white hair around my face?!. Even after more toner. What I am supposed to do now? Shave my head! $350 later?? It's damaged now so now l have to wait to have it fixed by a salon that cares and for it to grow back. Dude really? I had the most wonderful first experience at just hair. I have a very short bob and I am a very young person and for months people have been giving me an awful bulb like cut that made me look way too old and was overall unflattering. I tried to get it touched up and textured and the girl who did it completely butchered my hair. I thought I'd have to stack the back or pixie cut and both thoughts gave me sickening anxiety. I just started a new job the timing couldn't have been worse. The people at just hair talked to me so calmly and sweetly on the phone and assured me that they could help. They for me in just 2 hours later and all were so calm and kind to me through what was a very panicked morning. Ellie talked me through every step of the way so I knew what she was doing and I was blown away by the results. I haven't felt this beautiful in months and I couldn't believe how well she saved my hair after a horrible cut that closely resembled the kind a 10 year old might give. Christine did a completely amazing job styling my hair into a '30s pin curl updo for my wedding. She is so skilled and professional. I met with her a few months before the wedding for a consultation and brought her a bunch of Pinterest photos of '30s pin curl styles. None was exactly what I was looking for but I knew I wanted a style in that general theme. Based on my verbal description of what I wanted, scrolling through the photos, and her knowledge of my hair texture/length, Christine created a unique pin curl updo that suited my collar-bone length hair (with its side part, cowlicks, and thick, frizzy/wavy texture) perfectly. The day of the trial run, I traveled up to Portland and did a lot of moving around, but the updo held perfectly. Same for the even more pinned and hair-sprayed version on my wedding day-- it held together all day and night despite having a lot of intricate curls pinned. On my wedding day, I actually ended up getting more compliments and comments on my hair than my dress! I can't recommend Christine enough. read more

I thought I knew everything about hair. I was a confident 19 year old who wanted to be blonde! I bleached my hair and the first two attempts went well. I had the white blonde color I wanted. I started getting over confident and over processed my hair to a point where it was almost completely falling out. Back in May I decided to be a little more impulsive and made an appointment to drastically cut my hair. Was able to make an appointment (which was much easier than I anticipated -- I was expecting to have to wedge myself into a time slot but ended up getting to select basically anytime I wanted) with Christian and went in later that week to do the deed. It was a big decision and I'm glad I had someone as good at their job as he is to handle such a significant haircut for me. He consistently checked in to make sure what he was cutting was exactly what I wanted, which I highly appreciated. Ended up with a hairstyle that I have been receiving compliments on ever since. I absolutely love my haircut. I've always left salons with immediate regret so I've been letting my hair grow out for the last three years. I was really nervous about cutting my hair off, but the positive Yelp reviews were what encouraged me to call. If you're questioning whether or not to go to Just Hair, then call and ask for Christian. He's the best. I showed Christian a picture of what I wanted and I'm not sure how he did it, but my hair looks better than the picture. All in all, he cut about a 12 inches off of my hair. I first tried Just Hair based on the positive Yelp reviews, so I wanted to be sure to write one. I love this place, and I agree with the reviews that it's casual and comfortable feeling. There's a very positive atmosphere here. I've been seeing Jenny at Just Hair for the last year and this girl is the best hairdresser I've ever had. She accommodates any nutty, impulsive ideas I have, but has the skill to make sure I never regret any of them. I always look forward to my appointments and I always leave happy. After quitting my job and becoming a full time student I could no longer afford a salon so I began to bleach it myself. After 2 years of torture and neglect my twin sister came to town and treated me (demanded actually) to a hair cut and color. I got a poorly done perm at another Salon in town. I asked the guy for some waves in my hair and I got super curly and uneven all around. I called Just Hair to if they could fix it and the scheduled me with Elisha. She did such a great job! She made my hair more relaxed and gave me the waves I wanted. My hair isn't poofy or frizzy anymore. She made sure what I wanted before she did it and made suggestions on what I should do. I love my hair! I got my hair cut today with Emily Ewoniuk. I went in with an overgrown pixie cut (about shoulder length) and the layers were weird and the back was way too heavy. I requested a bob with choppy ends with a bit of an a-line cut. And that is exactly what I got! I feel like I finally have an actual hair cut, not just a grown out catastrophe. I absolutely LOVE this salon!! I go see Liz every 8-12 wks and she does amazing on my color, cut and eyebrows! This is a very laid back and relaxed salon unlike some of those others that have uptight employees and are just in it for the money.
