To start off, my first two visits to this salon weren't the best best experience due to using a different stylist who has potential, but just didn't know how to give me look i was going for, but you live and learn. On my third attempt of trying to achieve the hairstyle I had been trying to get Morgan was able to make happen. She was beyond amazing throughout the entire process. She talked me threw every step she was going to do and made sure we had a very good consultation of what I wanted before hand. After I had my extensions installed and they didn't match my regular hair as good as we thought, she worked with me to find a way to blend it better, adding an additional hour to hour and a half redying and blow drying the extensions. All I have to say is I found my new favorite hairstylist! Before I came in I was really nervous because I haven't had the best of luck with hairstyles, but Morgan made me feel so at ease. I went in to get a haircut on my birthday and I was excited but nervous because I haven't had my hair cut by a professional in over a year. I was also afraid because I cut my hair by myself sometimes and I'd messed it up a bit. On top of that my homemade dye job was growing out and not looking amazing. But I just wanted a cut! Anyway, my stylist (who I won't name) was inattentive and dismissive, she made comments about my hair that she probably should've just saved for talking behind my back when I left. When she was washing my hair she wasn't looking at me and it got soap in my face. She asked me a question a couple times and when I started answering she began talking to someone else. She seemed like she wanted me out of there as fast as possible so I tried to do just that. There was something she just clearly didn't like about me. Maybe it was the Bernie Sanders tote bag I had on. My hair itself looks kinda good so I'm not mad about that but I was sad about this experience!! Unfortunately, I got one of my all-time worst haircuts here. I was new to the salon, which meant that I was set up with a newer stylist. The cut was so uneven and chunky that I was embarrassed to see people afterwards. I even had a relative try and cut some of the more obvious chunks off afterwards. Thank goodness for Zoom-based work! This place really needs to implement better QA/QC so that people don't pay good money to be hacked up. The stylist was nice, but obviously inexperienced (and even nervous). My previous review about Just Hair was for the wrong salon, a complete mistake on my part (promise that never happens often). But make no mistake, you can't go wrong in visiting one of Eugene's most popular salons which has been in business for the better part of three decades. It has been a few years since I've been here but from what I remember I had fairly stellar results despite never having planned to come here. Enter a birthday present, which in this case came in the form of a gift certificate, and "Just Hair" became etched in my Eugene biz vocabulary. I had an event taking place at the nearby Hult Center, and in a pinch I showed up with no reservation. Thank goodness they take walk-ins. The receptionist still made some effort in accommodating me, which I was super grateful for given my mini time crunch. After a short wait, I was matched up with Jeffrey (is he still here?), who for around $25 turned my messy hair into a dashworthy do. He was funny, careful, and did all of the right things to show my hair wasn't meant for disaster after all. And to be honest, I hadn't had high hopes since I have had issues with styling my very difficult hair, but this was beyond my expectations. I reserve no hesitation in giving these folks my recommendation and would use them in a heartbeat if I was still in the area. They're a very professional bunch and deliver quality results. read more

I've always gotten my hair done back home, and since I'm a student here in Eugene I was looking for somewhere closer, with better prices to do my hair. My best friend had just gotten her hair done here and loved it, so I tried it out. I was a little apprehensive because I have kind of a specific cut because my hair is so thick and heavy, but it turned out AMAZING. Lauren did such an awesome job on my hair and is a great stylist. She listened to what I wanted and did exactly that. I was trying to do an ombre/balayage look on my hair and get it with my typical bob cut. Those two things don't always go together so the last time I got it done (back home) my hairdresser cut all of the color off going into the cut! Lauren did the color up high enough, and blonde enough to see, blended it so well, and gave me a great, short cut. Everyone (myself included) loved the drastic color change and that was just what I wanted. It was still a teensie bit longer than my normal cut (by about an inch) so I came back in and she fixed it, free of charge. She is so sweet and so talented. So glad I've found her here in Eugene! If you have curly hair, seek elsewhere! I went here a couple of years ago and it was the worst experience at a salon I've ever had. I went in to get my hair fully bleached and at the time I had dark brown virgin hair. I have curly hair and it was made extremely clear that this salon has no one who specializes in coloring or styling curly hair. The lady who styled me began to bleach my hair section by section using foils. This process took more than 3 hours. I waited for all of the bleach to process and once it was done she rinsed it out. She did not tone my hair whatsoever and just went on to blow dry and style my hair. My hair was orange, extremely damaged and far from blonde. I know dark hair can be hard to lift but I'm assuming she didn't use the correct developer with the bleach because my hair did not lift to blonde. I left with orange hair, I was in that salon for more than 4 hours and it cost $400..... I'm writing this now, years later, because I have since grown out my hair to it's virgin natural state and got my hair bleached by someone in Portland. It lifted perfectly, she toned it to a nice icy blonde color, it was half the price and it only took 2 hours. If you're reading this and you have curly hair you want to get dyed, go to a place with stylists who know what they're doing. read more

I am newer to the area and have had some pretty bad experiences with getting my hair colored in the past so when I read good reviews about this salon I decided to make an appointment for a long overdue cut and color. I got a free consultation the next day with Ellie to make sure we could do exactly what I wanted. She really listened to my concerns and did a test strip on my hair to make sure it could handle the color. I was happy with my consultation and set an appointment to come back and get it done a few days later. I spent almost 4 hours in her chair but she gave me a full on transformation. She cut off over 10 inches of my hair and took her time getting it to the exact color I wanted. On top of her being a great hairstylist, she is such a sweetheart! I have come to Just Hair 3 times and each time it just gets better! I've struggled to find a place in Eugene I like (my stylist back home had been cutting my hair for years) and was getting discouraged in finding a place after several duds. But Just Hair has been amazing! The first time I went I had a good, quick cut and Nikki did a great job of working my bangs just like the photo while providing entertaining conversation. It was a pretty simple cut, but I left feeling very content with my experience. The second time I went was several months later and right before graduation, so I was really nervous about having perfect hair. I am blanking on her name, but she did an amazing job of soothing my worries. After assessing my hair (she could tell me exactly where my dead hair was so that I could keep some of my leftover ombre) and cut my bangs perfectly. She was so nice and did a great job of keeping the conversation while doing the literal hour of styling my hair takes. I left having great, fresh hair for graduation! The third time was yesterday and it was by far AMAZING. I was scheduled with Brooke for a last minute haircut before I go on vacation. I wanted a long bob and was really nervous because whenever I cut my hair shorter I look like a news reporter. Brooke did a great job of 1) assessing how much to cut off 2) giving the best scalp massage during my shampoo 3) making the tedious process of the haircut fill with conversation 4) making sure to double check it was what I wanted 5) making me feel really great after it was all said and done. This is only a review for the receptionist. I called to cancel an appointment that I have in 2 days because I'm getting over a horrible case of the flu and still not feeling normal. Truthfully, I felt like I was gonna die I was so sick! Here's how the conversation went with the receptionist, I believe her name is Haylee, "I'm calling to cancel because I'm getting over the flu." The receptionist had a few opportunities to say, "sorry to hear that" or "feel better soon" or anything resembling normal human empathy! She missed every opportunity! Either she's clueless or uncaring. The last thing she said to me was, Have a Great Rest of Your Day! (I'm coughing my head off and laying on the couch in my PJ's so my day will be outstanding, thanks!!) It doesn't cost a thing to show human compassion! I am bummed that I'm here making a bad review. But I'm pretty upset. I got my hair cut about 2 days ago. It was a spur of the moment deal, I haven't had a cut in over a year. I walked in the staff were decently friendly, and the girl who cut my hair was very friendly too (her name was Devin I believe). Honestly, her friendliness is the reason I'm giving two stars. Otherwise if zero stars were an option that would be my choice. However, it took almost two hours to cut my hair. She washed it. And when she was done didn't even style my hair (didn't curl or straighten) I had asked for a few inches cut off so that my hair would be at a healthy length. I guess that means taking off about 9in of hair. Wouldn't be a huge deal, except I asked for a lot of layers and straight across bangs. I walked out of there and immediately put my hair into a bun. When I came home and straightened it myself my hair is a MESS!!! My "face framing pieces" are different lengths on both sides. (By about an inch and a half) one side is just blunt Cut and the other side is not much better. And somehow, the complete underneath of my hair is shorter, then there is some length and the top sections are prominently short... Like, from the top of my head to a little past my ear. That's a layer. So when I put my hair in a ponytail you see a ton of super short hair and then a weird section of a really long layer. Now with the bangs, I had asked for straight bangs but I didn't want them super thick. Well, I definitely got bangs. And a lot of them. The best part about them is that she took her shears to make them look more natural and instead gave me a section of bang that is SIGNIFICANTLY shorter.... IN THE CENTER OF MY FOREHEAD. You absolutely can't miss it if you're looking at my bangs. Not once during my cut was I asked if I was okay with the length or if we should take it shorter. So I went from having hair that was a little over halfway down my back, to just a little longer than shoulders length. $50.00 was my total. I understand you typically get what you pay for... But I feel like for just a haircut/wash AND NOTHING ELSE I was robbed. To say I'm pissed is an understatement. Luckily, hair grows back. I had never been here before and needed an easy trim so I decided to try them out. Their website said "walk-ins welcome" so I figured I would just pop in on a Sunday morning. When I got there I stood at the counter for about five minutes and saw three hairstylists helping other people. Not one person said "hello" or asked what I was there for. I figured they were busy so I took a seat and assumed someone would help me check-in when they had a chance. I waited there for 30 minutes and no one acknowledged me. I made eye contact with the hairstylists and they would look away. I honestly don't know if they take walk-ins on Sundays, maybe they don't, but I didn't even get the opportunity to ask because I was ignored the entire time. I asked for a balayage and a haircut, it seemed like Kylia and I immediately saw eye to eye on what I wanted done.
