We were in the area and had to try this iconic gelato. I had a scoop of peach marscapone and a scoop of pistachio, and my dining partner had a chocolate. The storefront captures the essence of West Chester's European-inspired food and art scene, complete with fresh flowers adoring the brick facade and al fresco seating. Really sets a positive mood. Many flavor options to choose from. The gelato is buttery, soft, and full of life. Not too heavy, but very satisfying. I particularly enjoy the tiramisu, while my wife enjoys the hazelnut chocolate. Reasonably priced and we enjoyed our dessert at a small, nearby table for two. Our servers were friendly and happy to let us try new flavors before we ordered. My cousins decided to try this place because their last place is D'Ascenzo and wanted to see if there were any similarities in relation. It is in a good place in West Chester and on most days there is easy parking. We were very impressed with their service and loved the options we chose! I've always loved gelato from D'Ascenzo's. It's the perfect way to cap off a night out in WC, so when I found out that I'm lactose intolerant, to say I was devastated would be dramatic but not wrong. I still miss my ultimate cup combo: a small with banana and butter cookie. It's the best. Luckily, they have rotating vegan flavors and I got to try the peanut butter a couple of weekends ago. I was blown away! It's SO good, and you'd never know it was vegan. I've had my fair share of disappointing almond milk "ice cream", so to know that I can come here and get my gelato/ice cream fix without feeling like I'm missing something really makes me happy. Stumbled upon D'Ascenzo's gelato after dinner in downtown west Chester and couldn't resist. The ladies were kind and patient as we decided on our flavors - they let us sample thankfully! There isn't much sugar in any of the chocolate only gelato. The dark chocolate looked like tar and tasted very bitter - inedible. The plain chocolate was also quite bitter. The kids really wanted chocolate and were sorely disappointed with it. Waste of money as 4 small cups were thrown away. I will note that I ordered the caramel sea salt and chocolate hazelnut and that was delicious. Maybe a bad day? read more

Some of the best gelato I've ever had. I confess that I've only ever had the butter cookie gelato--I get it every time--but my friends and family have tried and loved their other flavors. The service is always great and you get your gelato quickly. The outdoor area is equally as awesome. Great atmosphere to chill with your friends and an Instagram worth spot if you're looking for that. My family and I have been here at least 5 times this past summer and every time the gelato is amazing. The staff is extremely patient, and our family needs it as we have 5 children who some how never know what they want when they get to the counter but always seem to end up getting the same thing they did the time before. This is seriously the best gelato I have ever had in my entire life... and I have had a lot of gelato! We went here last night. Because of Covid, they are only doing ordering at the window which was safe and efficient. They have a super cute seating setup outside now that gay street is closed to cars! There were benches and tables and they had live music! There is seriously nothing better than live music and gelato on a summer night! I had their gelato in a homemade waffle cone. They let me get two different flavors so I got their peanut butter (yum) and chocolate brownie cookie dough (double yum)! Both were fabulous and they tasted amazing together. This spot came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. I tried the butter cookie and mocha espresso. They were willing to split the small between two flavors which I greatly appreciate. The setting is pleasant. Right now, they are offering outside seating in the closed off street. They do have some tables alongside their building. Yum! I love this little gelato place. The cute little alley leading up to the entrance is adorable, especially in the warmer weather when the owner puts pretty plants along the fence and the string lights are all lit up at night. But the gelato!!! It's so good. They are always happy to hand out samples of however many flavors you want to try. I went with the peanut butter cookie dough and Eclat chocolate caramel and sea salt on a waffle cone. I ate the whole thing! It gets busy after dinner hours so go early if you can or be prepared to wait. I highly recommend! read more

D'Ascenzo's is pretty pricey, but you get a large portion. The flavors are delicious and the gelato is creamy and fresh. The place is a hidden little gem but once you find it, it's cute inside and the staff are friendly. I appreciate that they let you try flavors before purchasing. It made the decision much easier and my coconut gelato was perfect, with pieces of real flaky coconut. The gelato was almost as delicious as in Italy (and yes I've been to Italy).
