Asked for a small vanilla/chocolate twist custard dipped in the hard chocolate and this is what I was given lol first off, it's enormously wide, making it impossible to eat it without making a mess or having to put it in a bowl. Secondly, um was the hard chocolate running out? if so, couldn't you just have said that? instead of charging me $6 for whatever this drippy mess is? What is even more sad is that the only reason I ordered the hard chocolate is because the last time I was here i got the chocolate sprinkles and they tasted so fake or old (not sure what was the issue) that I didn't want to chance it again. Was craving ice cream and couldn't pass up this place since I was in the area! Of course trying pumpkin flavored foods is a must during the fall season, so I had to get the specialty pumpkin pie ice cream sundae! The portion was huge! The sundae was supposed to be a snack, but it ended up being my dinner lol. The pumpkin pie ice cream was delicious and creamy which contrasted the crispy waffle bowl. It was quite sweet and I wouldn't recommend eating the whole thing by oneself, but if you have a sweet tooth or is up to a sweet challenge, go for it! Soft serve is my favorite! If I see an ice cream stand in my travels, you better believe I'll be making a pit stop! How happy I was to have discovered Richman's! No lines, we walked right up to the window and despite all the ice cream choices on the colorful menu, I knew what I wanted! Kiddie twist, chocolate and vanilla cone with chocolate jimmies! Yaaasssss! They call them "jimmies" up north which is what I'm used to saying! I grew up in the north but when I moved down south to VA, they called those delicious bits of confection "sprinkles" and never knew what I was talking about when I said I wanted "jimmies" as my topping. Some folks call them "ants". Whatevs! I call them a must on my cone!! It was good to feel at home! My daughter and I share a lot in common, even ice cream! We were served quickly and efficiently by two sweet young gals. One of them even offered to snap our photo! The place was clean and had a cute little spot outside with tables and umbrellas to sit and devour your fav treat! The price was on point! Our cones were crunchy and fresh and the ice cream was creamy and tasty with a smooth texture. For the kiddie portion, it was very satisfying! My wife ordered the waffle bowl sundae with hot fudge, I ordered the Heath bar shake. They gave my wife her order and my wife asked if they added the hot fudge. The person giving her the order said yes. Of course it did not have hot fudge (caramel instead). The bowl is super small and was not worth almost $10. The truth is, it's hard to not like ice cream places in general. I mean, unless they have no selection, completely rude staff, and a horrible appearance, they're going to always get a minimum of three stars since in the end, ice cream is awesome. But can they set themselves apart as special? So here's the deal with this place. I'm not normally a soft serve guy. I don't dislike it. I just prefer hand dipped. After seeing reviews here, and after seeing someone walk away from the window here with a soft serve cone that was huge and awesome, I went for a large chocolate dipped twist cone. The soft serve here is better than a lot of places. You can definitely taste the richness. After devouring a large cone which was huge, I wanted to eat another one. That got them a 4th star. Only reason they didn't get 5 is that I usually reserve 5 stars for places like Handel's in Berwyn that are truly special with ice cream. This place is more basic but that has its advantages. Due to the gorgeous weather today, my friend and I decided to take a walk down memory lane and grab ice cream like we used to do in high school. After checking Yelp, we saw Richman's was a decent looking ice cream place less than a mile from the shopping center we were in. The one employee got through the small line pretty quickly, even though she admitted that there should have been someone else there to help but they were injured and apologized for the (nonexistent) wait. My friend and I each got small sized cones and they were huge! Seriously generous portions! And jimmies on top because you know, that's how we roll! The lines weren't very bad, but the service was so slow! That was the only downfall when we went for our after dinner treat. I saw the lady in front of me order a small size cone and it was HUGE! So, I got a kiddie size and it was still big! I had to scrap most of it off bc I was getting so full and wanted some of the cone. I ordered myself the new orange creme swirl and my son had the vanilla and chocolate swirl. Both were very very good! Nice and creamy and oh so delicious! Was so disapppointed here. Wanted to love it but really just ended up being wasted calories. We ordered two of their sundaes and they were both made totally wrong rendering them unenjoyable to eat. I had a bannana split and was specific about wanting the strawberry topping over the strawberry ice cream and the pineapple topping over the vanilla ice cream and the chocolate topping over the chocolate ice cream. I felt almost silly asking for that since it seems obvious that is how you would make it but not the case. The pineapple topping was over the chocolate and the chocolate topping was over the vanilla etc. To make matters worse there was way too much topping used and hot fudge which just melted everything. It was a gloppy goopy mess. After five minutes of trying to salvage it I threw probably 70% of it out. It wasn't worth the calories at that point. The other sundae was also bizzarely made. It was a cookie sundae and the hot fudge and sprinkles were put on top of an already sweet cookie and the actual vanilla ice cream had nothing on it. read more

Their prices are very reasonable and the customer service is adequate. I officially found one of my favorite ice cream spots in Delaware County. Richman's has scoopable ice cream (hard serve??), soft serve ice cream, sundaes and much more. The ice cream itself is just so creamy and delicious. It's as if the cows who helped to provide the milk that made the cream were pampered. My favorite flavor is Birthday Cake. It's vanilla ice cream with sprinkles, yellow cake and the blue icing you would normally see on a traditional birthday cake. Many places serve this flavor, but it is usually hit or miss...most of the time it's more miss than hit. Well, not here. My wife, who normally hates this flavor, absolutely loves it. Whenever I get it, I'm forced to allow her to dip her spoon in my cream. Mint chocolate chip, a classic flavor, is also great. So is cookies and cream. One of the great things about this place is that it seems like every Sunday from 12pm - 3pm, they give away free ice cream. Richman's is new to the area, so I doubt this offer will be a weekly thing, but for right now, it's definitely bringing in the customers. The lines are pretty long during this time period. I guess it's worth the wait, but I rather go when the lines are "normal" and pay $2 for my ice cream. I hate lines. If you're in Prospect Park or near Prospect Park and you have a desire for ice cream, I definitely recommend Richman's. In fact, if you're travelling on I-95 (North or South), get off exit 9B for Prospect Park. Richman's is literally right off of I-95. There's a Sunoco gas station right across the street. Fill the tank and then treat your stomach to some good ice cream. If you do decide to go, to use lines from the Jackson 5 song, "just call my name and I'll be there." read more

Love Richmonds! Not much of an ice cream person but when I do want it, I go there. Their orange cream ice cream is the best along with their mint chocolate chip milkshake. It is the perfect consistency and you can see them make it. Not your fake milkshake with flavoring. Had their fries, which weren't bad but I wish they used better cheese. I think they use a whiz that doesn't have a great taste and is salty. They are really nice and friendly and I like that if the weather is nice, they stay open later in the year. I literally counted down in 2015 because they kept pushing the closing (for winter) back a few days because it was nice out. Looking forward to getting a milkshake soon! read more

If you're traveling on 420 or 95 and are in the vicinity of Prospect Park and have a hankering for ice cream, this is where you get off, literally. On the day my hubby and I visited a few months ago, we had just finished hiking at nearby John Heinz and wanted ice cream, so we came here. We were the only patrons who weren't tattooed. The tats notwithstanding, the clientele looked a little shady. On a subsequent visit, as we ate our ice cream, we watched the police haul away an unruly drunk from the dive bar across the street. I suppose these occurrences say something for the sad state that Delco is falling into nowadays...just saying... But the ice cream is great, and I recommend a visit to Richman's. read more

I went here based on Reem C.'s review. He was dead on with the Birthday Cake ice cream. It will put you in a sugar coma with a deadly but delicious combination of sweet blue frosting, fluffy pieces of vanilla cake and chewy rainbow sprinkles. I already have been back about three times just to get this ice cream again. I recommend the cup over the cone though because they load it up high and it's likely to topple over and/or drip all over you. Blue looks good on the ice cream, but not on my shirt. The menu here is huge. They have more of a variety than the other places. There is water ice, ice cream, frozen yogurt, soft serve, sundaes, and dipped cones. All of these items are available in a large variety of flavors. You can even take a pint of the scoopable ice cream home if you wish. The people who work here are really friendly which is an added bonus. There are a few picnic tables on either side of the building to enjoy your ice cream at. However, there is a lot of trash laying around the area which is my only pet peeve. For scoopable ice cream in the area, Richman's can't be beat! read more

Richman's is a solid place to get some ice cream on a hot summer's night. I've been here a handful of times over the summer and haven't been disappointed once. The arctic blast (aka Blizzard) is usually what I'm ordering, is pretty large for the price, and only come in one size (sometimes a bummer when you only want a taste - we all know this doesn't taste the same when you put in the freezer!). More recently, I had a black and white milkshake which was super thick and super delicious! The servers are always plentiful and courteous, which keeps the lines moving. The business sells gift cards, but on (at least 4) every occasion for the previous 3 weeks the establishment cannot honor the gift card. It appears gift card equipment is faulty and is not being repaired any time soon. Upon conversation with the employees, there is no course of action and the management is not responsive or chooses not to provide a resolution on what to do with this useless gift card.
