I've been getting my hair washed and blow dried at other salons with no issues. Wash. Blow dry. Simple. However, this salon, specifically Jessica, took what was a simple task and turned it into more work for me. First of all, Jessica was unprepared - stated that she didn't have her stuff at the salon. First red flag. Secondly, she proceeded to blow dry my hair with a regular brush and a blow dryer. I asked her to please use a round brush and she stated she was just trying to get my hair dry before she used the round brush. And then, proceeded to use the round brush in the same exact way she was using the regular brush to blow dry my hair. Second red flag. As she's working I can feel that heavy dread in my chest of "this woman has no idea what she's doing". I am Indian and after she finished "blow drying" my hair - I looked like I had an afro, LOL. I told her I wasn't happy with how my hair turned out and I said I am not going out looking like this. I then asked if I could use their blow dryer to go ahead and fix my hair. I use some serum or smoothing cream they had at the salon, a round brush, and their blow dryer to fix my hair. When I stated that this is what a blow dry should look like her response was "Well, if I had known that's what you wanted I would've told you I can't do it or don't have time to do it" and then went on to tell me that if I wanted it done that way it would have cost $50. An extra $25 for something she should've been doing in the first place. Then with an insincere and sarcastic tone said "Oh well sorry about that" as she moved onto her next client who mind you, is a white woman. Lastly, when I told her we are gonna have to negotiate the price of this wash and blow dry since I had to do some of the work she refused. I said ya know what I'm gonna give her the $25 for wash and blow dry but I did NOT leave a tip. I could be wrong but, I think she was just upset that she was washing and blow drying a brown woman's hair because she had no problem at all moving on to her next client who was a white woman while I stood there and fixed her mess up. If you decide to come to this salon, DO NOT count on them to tell what you need to know or ask you anything to gain clarity on what you need/want. SPELL IT OUT FOR THEM because they have clearly had a slow life.

However, four times in the last year I have been called within an hour of my appointment only to be told at the stylist wouldn't be able to make it in, and they would need to reschedule, and they would not be able to accommodate for a cut that day. I understand that people have personal lives, and once or twice if someone can't make it in, I certainly understand. But four times is a trend that I just can no longer ignore. Again, the service is fine, but if you rely, like I do, on being able to count on a haircut at a certain time, then I'm afraid that they may fall short. "When you get a touch up, you want to make sure that you can tell, it's new". She took her time, and was friendly as ALWAYS. She even made me eat a snack and drink ginger ale, because I had the flu. She educates you on curly hair, explains the techniques she uses & how to take care of your curls at home, and tries different curl products herself to make recommendations and share with you what would work for your hair but doesn't push any particular product or service. In the curls class she offers, she goes into more detail about the curl world, has a client demonstration where you can see the techniques in action, answers any questions you have, and sends you home with a few free samples. I enjoyed having that opportunity, so I highly recommend taking the class when it's available. She recently moved to a new location, and the new salon is more spacious, comfortable, and welcoming, not intimidating at all like some salons can be. She is also very responsive to emails, messages, and texts, which I appreciate when you have an emergency or need to reschedule or just have a quick question. I've been getting curly-cuts since 2014, so I highly recommend Laurie Cain and her skills as a curl specialist.

My hair is course and brittle. I have to take really good care of my hair. It took years after radiation to grow my hair back. We moved here because my husband got a job with Fedex. I've been around the US and experienced many hair salons. I went to see Gracie. She is super sweet. I told her the issues with my hair and she promised to take care of me. I got a couple of rows of highlights and then low lights over the rest of my hair. She gave me a "collagen treatment" that was supposed to help keep my hair from breaking. I paid $280 for all the "special treatments" to keep my hair in good condition. I've never paid that much for my hair....even living in CA. Gracie straightened my naturally curly hair, and I went home and washed my hair a couple days later. To my horror, I noticed a TON of breakage ALL OVER MY HAIR. I started crying and called Ella David Salon. They promised to have Gracie call me. Gracie text me back and I sent her pictures of what happened. She felt bad and was very nice. But there was nothing she could do but offer another "hair treatment". I didn't want my hair further ruined so I declined. I called again to talk to the owner about what happened. I left 3 messages. Finally I got upset and told the salon I needed the owner to call me back ASAP. Finally after a week, the owner got back to me. I explained the situation to her and explained how her products ruined my hair. The owner was SO apathetic and rude. She did not care AT ALL that her products ruined my hair I worked years to grow after cancer. She said they could "cut my hair and give my a free conditioner". ARE YOU KIDDING??? I paid $280 for you to ruin my hair and you tell me to get a hair cut??? I was crying on the phone to the owner and she blatantly told me there was nothing she could do and it wasn't her fault.
