This place is joke. The dude who called me (after I was forced to email my problem through their website) told me I had purchased a counterfeit drum roller and toner cartridge for my Panasonic Fax machine. He asked me what I paid for the parts from Amazon and when I told him, he said, they were so cheap that that's why I having a problem. I told him that they are in the original Panasonic boxes with the original Panasonic directions. He said that the ORIGINAL PANASONIC drum unit could only be bought at one place for $180 and the toner for around $80.00. Well I paid $49 for both and he continued to belittle me on not understanding. I told him I knew what he was saying, but without TOUCHING and SEEING the parts that there was NO WAY he could know they were imitations. Hell, Staples sells the exact same parts for $96/$33 respectively. I have worked long enough in the automotive world to know that imitation parts exist, but there is no way to tell over the phone. And he was the AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER that Panasonic recommended. This guy has the personality and people skills of a speed bump. So anyway, I basically told him never mind and because I could buy a refurbished fax machine (same make/model) with a warranty for $199. He then scolded me saying there's no way I could buy a unit for that price. I told him goodbye and stewed for a bit. Then I called Panasonic Factory Parts Department and asked for pricing and availability for the two parts I bought though Amazon. Drum $89.95 - Toner $34.95 ready to ship. So how can this jackass justify doubling the price? So I had Panasonic Parts Dept patch me through to Panasonic Customer Service and I filed a complaint. I told Panasonic they should be embarrassed by having this guy as an authorized service center for their company. I told them I was so mad at this dude I was going to throw away the Panasonic and buy a new fax machine from one of their competitors. Well, they opened a case file, gave me the case number and said a Panasonic supervisor would investigate and call me back. I'll update this once I hear back from the factory... this crazy putz needs to have his factory credentials pulled and need a crash course in people skills. Stay tuned... Brought 2 vintage stereo tape decks for repair. Pioneer Cassette CT-F1000, Teac 6300. What a rip off !!! The pioneer had belts replaced, 2 months prior, needed 2 idle tires, tape sensing switch, and adjustment, 1 channel on play back was distorted. They coundn't even write the repair order right, said had record problem, that worked prefectly before they got their hands on it. I called 4 times to correct that error. Teac wouldn't erase on one channel, but would record. Free Estimates, yeah with no testing, bull shit. They charged $100.00 said it needed a new erase head, couldn't find one, waited 50 days. They said they made adjustments to try to justify the cost of $100.00. The Teac was finally repaired by Teac Tech, erase problem was a broken ground wire, replaced capacitors, and adjusted total cost from Teac Tech less than $100.00 According to Teac Tech no adjustments were made by Just Service. The Pioneer was COMPLETE RIP OFF!! $150.00!! They only relaced 1 idel tire, a belt that was only 2 months old,( there are 3 belts on the deck) and made adjustments so you can't even hear a tape. Didn't replace the broken sensor switch, a $1.00 part, jumped it instead, I tested the deck when I got it home, it wouldn't record on one channel, and the transport was locking up. Took the steel cover off and found the record head wires for the right were broken off, and the sensor switched jumped. The dolby couldn't be set to zero, with eventhing set to maximum. I called the head guy, that wrote the order, he said it was out of their 90 day warrantee, because it sat on their shelf for 90 days. I pulled the receipt it was only their 69 days. Then he said since I took the cover off, I voided the warrantee. Inorder to put it into the wooden cabinet you had to remove the steel cover. It states that in the Pioneer instructions. He hung up on me. NEVER NEVER GO THERE!!! JUST SERVICE is JUST A RIPP OFF. I found out the hard way. $350.00 No wonder there CASH ONLY !!!!Both units were in worse condition than when I brought them in. The person who recommend them was a Chicago Cop. I guess if you wear a badge and gun they don't rip you off. To repair a Marantz amp and turner, the Cop had, which required transistors and capacitors replaced and alignment, was only $175.00 read more

Dear Yelp, do no "filter" this review. I am a real person with a real compliant. I created this account because just like other reviewers, this company has people who harass negative reviewers. I agree with the posting from 4/1/2006. I too had to call the police to intervene because the owner is horrible person and harassed me to get out of his store and to pick up my receiver on the curb! DO NOT give them your business, DO NOT give them the time of day and most certainly report them to BBB. I brought in my Onkyo receiver due to a blown fuse and he wanted to "rebuild" the entire motherboard. Horrible, horrible service and I too would like to report them to BBB. I wish yelp would allow negative stars because that's exactly what they deserve. NOTE look at the "unfiltered" reviews as well. example: give this place 1 star only because I have to give it a star rating to post this review. This was the WORST experience I've ever had as a customer. This guy's idea of service is being rude and untrustworthy. He was pleasant enough when I first brought my equipment in to be fixed, but when I called in for a status update after dealing with his weird, website only status update rule and getting nowhere, I was met with defiance. He refused to give me any info regarding my repair status and I still really don't know why. Whatever the case, I immediately decided to go in and talk to him in person. He refused to answer any questions about the condition of my equipment or where in the repair process he was and he wouldn't return my items even after I offered to pay him the full price if his estimate. So, I called the police and only after they arrived was he miraculously able to "reassemble" my equipment and return it to me on the spot. The equipment, a 1960s Fisher tuner and receiver, wasn't inoperable when I brought it in, just in need of service. Now I hope that when "putting it back together" he didn't damage it. Hopefully, he never even touched it. it's being repaired now by a reputable business. If Just Service damaged my things I will definitely add to this review as well as report him to the BBB. read more

Man! Either I'm doing something wrong, or these guys must be on somebody's sh*t list. This is my third review that I've written for these folks (I got a lotta stuff), yet it only appears on Yelp if I access it through my profile page. (When I go to Yelp through the browser they don't appear). Don't know why 'cause this place is great. My computer was repaired quickly, and they did a great job of it. I thought I was a goner until Tom and crew brought it "back from the dead." I'll always be grateful to them for that, because they "saved my life." This is the fourth time I've written a review for Just Service's excellent work (Jul 2008, Nov 2008, Jun 2009 and now today, July 23, 2009). However, each of those reviews only count as one review. Okay, I get that. But this is the THIRD time I've had to request that my review(s) be re-posted, after they were taken down. WHY DOES YELP KEEP TAKING DOWN MY REVIEWS from this year and last; yet leave up negative reviews from 2006 and beyond? I am unfortunately another victim of Just service as on December 10th I was quoted over the phone to replace an HDMI port on my Westinghouse TV the cost would be between $40-$80 much less than I was quoted at Best Buy. I brought my TV over to them and then was quoted it would cost $140-$160 to repair. I should of left right then, but figured since that what was Best Buy estimated it wouldn't make no difference. Once I filled out the paper work they said I should hear back within a week or so. I ended up waiting 4 weeks for me to hear anything! Between that time I called, checked online etc. After writing them an email they finally returned my call only to tell me they had to order my part from overseas and would take up to 3 weeks longer. I asked to just come in and pick up my TV and they refused unless I paid in full the payment even though nothing was done. They tried to spin the call like I was the one in the wrong for expecting my TV to be fixed, I finally agreed fine and let them order the part. Almost 2 weeks later my TV was ready. I paid $200 cash for the repair. The HDMI port seems to be working, but now my picture doesn't work consistently. What happens is I turn the TV on, I have sound, and no picture. I have had to wait and flip channels to finally get picture or the picture will just go out randomly. There is no way in hell I am taking this back to Just Service, as this feels like sabotage. I will be reporting this company to every media outlet I can think of. I advise everyone to run away from this company! read more

I'm yet another person who started a yelp account just because of this place. Shadiest "business" I've ever had the misfortune of stepping into, and I've shopped in college-town bicycle shops and Beijing street markets. Tom (the owner) makes his money by taking in equipment for repair, letting months go by without actually working on it, then holding it hostage for full price when people want their stuff back, even without any actual repairs done. If people don't pay, he then turns around and sells the now STOLEN item. And he has a LOT of "unclaimed" items for sale. To top it off, Tom is condescending and rude throughout the entire process. And not in the normal tech-geek kind of way, but in the way that incompetent and/or dishonest people try to avoid having their actions questioned. It's no wonder his Yelp score is in the trash and Better Business Bureau has given him an "F" score. Why he still has a business license is anyone's guess, this is a blatant THEFT operation and a blight on the neighborhood. Like many others before me apparently, I called the police for help. Tom lied to them about what happened, as I'm sure he's used to doing by now. Unfortunately, though, the police said it was a civil matter and that my gear was probably long gone by now. I first wrote a review of Just Service on 4/24, and for some reason, it keeps getting removed. (See below review). Since then, I've had some further difficulties with my computer and owner Tom at Just Service came to my home to make sure everything was up and running. Owner Tom is courteous, honest, and he ALWAYS returns our repairs on time. Over the years, he has given us expert repair on everything from VCRs, tape recorders, fax machines, to computers. Most recently, my computer crashed right in the middle of a work project that was due earlier this week. Tom was able to recover all of my files and he also rebuilt and updated our computer, saving us time and money. Anytime we have questions, he always talks us through them on the phone or by email. Everyone, I worked at Just Service as a technician in the late 90s, I would like to take a moment to respond to everyone who posted a negative review of this establishment. The first thing you must understand is how inheritly difficult consumer electronics repair is. These guys have to have a working knowledge of everything from Amplifiers to electronic Zylophones. Also people tend to keep electronics along time so now go back 20 years. Thats having a working knowledge of something like a million different pieces of equipment plus they have to quickly learn the new stuff coming out every year. Its commendable that they can provide these services at all. Most normal people wouldn't last a day in this industry on the other side of the counter. I can attest that for every disgruntled review posted here they fix literally hundfreds of pieces of equipment a week that are flawlessly repaired and returned to the customer in a timely manner. Its just most people who have a bad experience tend to post to a site like this where as people who were in and out tend to keep the experience to themselves. Just remember these guys are human beings, lets cut them some slack, they offer a service very few can provide. Just my 2 cents. read more

I first did business with Just Service in 2002. I needed a SCSI II cable for a server. I had contacted Gateway (who lied and said they were shipping it but it was on back order), CDW, Tiger B2B - no one had the cable and their prices were ridiculous. A young friend of mine recommended Just Service to me. They had the cable. Since, I have purchased about 37custom built computers for clients that I serve, 4 computers for myself and 3 for family members. My experience has been more than satisfactory whether it has been warranty work or additional needs. I also use their web hosting service and VDATA service for disaster recovery. I am a proud and real customer of Just Service, Inc. and I often recommend their services to other professionals such as myself. My Mitsubishi LT 30 has not worked for quite some time and I finally decided to get it repaired. ( Many years ago I took my turntable in to be repaired by another stereo repair service, unfortunately it worked only for a short period of time and it was down again. The repairman said I appreciate your business, but never bring this to me again.) Well, after it sat idle for a number of years, I decided to have it repaired again and brought it to Just Service. They repaired it correctly with the correct parts and my LT 30 sounds great once more. Harry James sounds alive again. He kept me updated on problems and price and was very professional. Just Service has saved my life more than once. When a computer crashed right before a major event, they loaned me one while they fixed mine. Another time, a monitor went out the day before a big event and again, they loaned me one. When I have had computer questions, Tom always takes the time to walk me through it and makes sure I know what to do. When I take my computer in for it's yearly upgrades, I know I will get quality service at a fair price. I have sent a ton of people there and they all rave too. I am pleased with Just Service and I trust them to do good work on Panasonic. I recently had a TV that was acting up so i searched Panasonic's website to find an authorized repair shop and Just Service popped up. My unit was still under warranty so i took it in. i thought the customer service was good. I had called every 3-4 days to see how my TV was doing and they were always nice to me. The repairs took about 2 weeks, which I think is reasonable. The reason for the delay was mostly waiting for parts coming from Panasonic. Got my TV back and it is working great! read more

This place is still an abomination, do yourself a favor and read the filtered yelp reviews where you will find close to 200 angry reviews from folks who probably joined yelp only to complain about Just Service. If that is not enough to keep you away, then look at the BBB site. If yelp only existed to keep you away from this place it has therefore justified it's yelp existence! Basically you will lose your money, possibly your equipment, probably your temper, and definitely your time if you choose to deal with this place. Steer clear at all costs! read more

Yelp, Why do you delete positive reviews? I posted a positive review on 6/13/08 and just learned from a friend whom I'd referred to Yelp that it was no longer there. Again, I've been a Just Service customer for over 10 years for AV repairs and computer repairs and upgrades. I also have Just Service's VDATA Office and ISP services. The owner provides helpful, courteous, reliable and reasonably-priced service. I highly recommend this neighborhood, one-stop technology center. read more

After reading some bead reviews online, I was quite doubtful about going to Just Service for a repair. But it was almost Christmas, and I had no choice. When I stepped in a big guy - Ray - welcomed me and was super helpful and polite. We also had a nice chat. I left my item to be repaired there, and it was ready within 24 H, and I did not even have to pay! I would highly recommend their service as my experience was absolutely great. read more

Because the web site looks so stunning I've been able to get my business off to a great start. Every time I chat with Tom (the owner) I learn something. Do not go there. One of the worst experiences I have ever had. He kept my deposit as well as my TV. He is a crook and a very scary person. How he has remained in business for so long is a mystery. Just Service rules I brought in my late 90's ampeg amp to get fixed up, in less than 2 days it was ready and in perfect condition. Most shops I've been to in the city take 2 weeks, never 2 days.
