Four months ago, I bought a 4 week old baby's cockatiel. I been looking at this bird store for years and I finally got my companion I've always wanted. When I went to purchase my cockatiel they ensured to educate me by handfeeding. I never hand fed before but they made it easy for me and allowed me to be rest assured that he will be just fine as long as I followed their instructions. I am in contact with them as long as my baby is alive. I will say that they are pricey for toys and the formula. One toy cost 8 to 12 dollars the last time I checked, also the feeding formula for the baby was 25.00 each time you buy. You shouldn't go through the formula so easy but it's just an FYI that they are expensive at least for me haha! I would definitely recommend you to do your own research before you even come to get a bird (hence, they go by this saying and I will always agree) if you aren't knowledgeable about something, they are always ready to help. I have been a customer since this beautiful family had owned another bird, parrot, supplies store. They are so very kind and knowledgeable. They even offer delivery for some items. They have an online store. They also are a resource I can trust if I need any advice on caring for my parrots. They do parrot grooming. I got my Kiwi years ago from them. He was a rescue bird they took in an cared for and I was lucky to have found him. It is fantastic when they help older birds that need homes too. Their prices are ridiculous. Make sure you do your research on prices before going there. For example I got my eclectus less than $2000. They're trying to sell theirs for $3500. Also I was looking for a stainless steel cage. The one that they are selling was going for over $1700. I found the same exact one from the same company they got their cage from for $685! I offered to price match and I would even add another $50 for them and they said no so I said fine, I guess the website will make the money and u won't. Not sure if they were thinking straight. I have been supporting this small business for over a year. We adopted Momo, a Sun Conure almost a year ago from this location. Momo's wings are unclipped and we have been training him to fly on command. Most recently, I boarded Momo for a little over a week. During the week, I called to check on Momo and the Owner George answered and assured me everything was "good". When I went to pick Momo up, we again asked if there was any issue and were told that everything was fine. When we got Momo home, we noticed he could not fly and plopped hard onto ground. Momo was very protective of his right wing and I could not get a good look at what was wrong. Fearing the worst (a broken/fractured wing) we rushed Momo to the Emergency Vet hospital for triage. They informed us that Momo suffered a traumatic pull injury where his primary feathers were forcefully and painfully removed, by either mishandling or being caught in something. The Vet said that sadly, Momo will likely not fly for over a year until his feathers grow back. I was unable to reach the store by phone that evening, so I called the first thing the next day. George (the owner) answered again. Up until this point, he had been cordial with me since I began supporting his small business. I began to tell him of the condition that we received Momo in after he was boarded at the store. I only wanted to know what had happened to my poor Momo, and if he could shed some light on what may have occurred to rip out all of the feathers. I am a very understanding person, and I know that accidents can happen. From this point, George turned into a much different person. He became angry and defensive. I asked if anyone noticed such a large amount of full sized feathers laying at the bottom of Momo's cage, as they change the cage liners daily. He said nobody reported anything, and that he could ask his staff. I told him that would be good, and I asked what he planned to do to rectify the situation. George berated me, and said he would not issue any refund, and that the solution going forward would be to not visit his establishments or board my bird there in the future, and he rudely hung up. I would have never expected such a level of immaturity from a grown man. What I did expect was an apology for Momo and to be assured that he would make every possible effort to find out what happened, why it was not reported, why I was not informed, and lastly, ensure that there is a procedure in place to make sure it never happens again. I think that is what any pet owner would expect, at very least. It is obvious based on his petulant response to the incident that this place does not care about your bird or what happens to it. To date, I have not received an apology or an explanation for what happened. Be warned. read more

Purchased a handfed baby cockatiel from lutz location on 12/10 for pickup on 12/17. Diana agreed to teach us the hand feeding process and get us everything we needed on pickup day in a week. We visited our bird everyday after school and watched the feeding process and so my daughter could bond with it. Diana tagged the bird so staff would know it was sold. When we arrived to pick our baby bird up it wasn't there anymore. Diana's husbands said George took a couple to Valrico store and maybe it was there. I texted pictures and it wasn't there. I am pretty sure my bird was resold. George, the owner became angry and Diana too when I questioned where our bird was. Saying the bird may have been stolen or got out of the cage and is in the store somewhere dead. They just wanted us to go away offered us another bird with no concern of the whereabouts of the tagged bird we bought and visited all week to bond with it. They Made excuses and called me names and wanted to make me seem unreasonable. I bought a bird and you lost it or sold it or killed it and you are angry at ME? They are SO pleasant taking your money but when they screw up and have to return your money or fix an issue that THEY CAUSED they become angry and impossible. Do yourself a favor and do business elsewhere and save yourself from this unprofessional family business that doesn't care for the welfare of the birds. I will include a picture of the bird I bought that we fell in love with. If you purchased it we would love to buy it and bring it home. I brought my monster military macaw in for a nail clipping today. The awesome professionalism of the gentleman who so carefully grounded down my birds nails. Crazy. He didn't charge me. The best manicure at no charge. I bought a pretty cool toy I haven't seen else where for a very reasonable price. There were tons of toys everywhere. He also has a couple of beautiful Green Cheeked Conures, an African gray and lots of small birds for sale. I'm normally a strong supporter for small businesses. I will state that my husband and I used to be a frequent customers at Just4Birds. We considered ourselves loyal customers. Being a specialty store, they had everything a bird owner needed from toys, food grooming and boarding.However, our last experience left much to be desired. We normally board Momo (Sun Conure )with Just4Birds when we go off on vacation because we considered them professionals. This last time, we boarded Momo for nine days. When we picked him up he was a bit shy but we didn't think much of it. The employee, told us that he was a good bird during his stay. As per usual, we got him a toy, some treats, and checked out.When we got home, he was unable to fly and became worried since his wings are not clipped and is trained to fly on command. After further inspection, we noticed he had an injury on his right wing (missing primary feathers). We attempted to contact the store but there was no answer. As a precaution, we took him to the vet.The Vet, stated in their report that Momos feathers were missing at the root like there was a traumatic "pull" injury - being stuck in something, or grabbed by something, etc. Needless to say the injury was painful.Further, she stated that the amount of feathers missing would have been noticeable when cleaning the cage. He was prescribed Meloxicam for the pain and inflammation. Plucking was considered far less likely. As a result of his injury, Momo will be unable to fly for nearly a year.The following day, I was able to get in contact with the owner, George. He stated that there were no incidents or reports during his stay. And that the only explanation is that he might've gotten scared at night and injured himself. However, no one reported anything abnormal. According to him, boarding services only include changing food / water and cleaning the cage. Birds are never handled. But the question remains, why didn't anyone notice the excessive amount of feathers when cleaning?We are not asking for much, we just want a simple explanation. Someone should've noticed the amount of feathers when cleaning the cage. We understand accidents happen, we do. But we were never contacted.My biggest dissolution with the business was the lack of empathy. The business has done nothing to rectify the situation or taken any corrective action.When we dropped of Momo, he could fly. Now, he'll have to wait for nearly a year before he can attempt to do so. I had purchased a lovebird from the Valrico store on 60. I had the bird for two days and noticed that it seemed to be very quiet. I thought that the bird needed more interaction and so had it on my shoulder for an hour or two daily. then i noticed it going to the bottom of the cage. then exactly on the Monday I had purchased it, exactly a week later, I found the bird dead. I addressed it with the woman owner and she gave me all kinds of sorry excuses and even offered to sell me another one at 10% discount and not only that, if I paid in cash, she wouldn't charge me tax. She did apologize about the loss but sounded very insincere. She came across as being more interested in milking more money from a grieving person over their loss. I will never step foot in that store and to some satisfaction, the best advertisement is by word of mouth. When asked about my bird, I tell them what happened. Then comes the question of where I got the bird. And....I tell them. read more

Just4Birds offers THE finest variety of avian needs that I've found under one roof in Florida. The store came very highly recommended to me when my local "Birdfarm Store" sold their business after many years. I nearly went into a panic worrying about where I was going to be able to purchase the highly nutritionally balanced bird blend that my 4 (fids) feathered babies were on since being weaned at that store. They had also offered complimentary nail trimmings and wing clipping, which was a plus. There was a new business owner that purchased the store. She admittedly stated that she knew absolutely nothing about birds, I had to make an appointment and waited 4 weeks since 1st requesting a wing clipping! Upon arriving..... the store had packed up and moved out overnight. Ughhhh!! Fortunately my husband and I had taken a friendly liking to the original store owner and his wife, and we exchanged phone numbers at some point. I was able to make contact with them, and "Just4Birds in Valrico" came highly recommended. It was the ONLY facility that "our guy" purchased his supplies from. Upon searching online, I was easily able to locate Just4Birds. Unfortunately it is 1 and 3/4 of an hour away from me. Finally after a few weeks, my husband and I decided to make the trip down. Much to our surprise..... on this much needed trip I was able to locate and purchase EVERYTHING that I went there looking for.... And then some! Every quality brand of food and supplies is available. Their prices are VERY reasonable, I myself was surprised. There is a very wide selection of quality cages there as well. This store is impeccably clean and very well organized. Jorge was very courteous and was immensely knowledgeable in bird health, nutrition, housing, safety, socialization, etc. educating us with answers to any of our questions or concerns. I don't express this lightly in regards to how spectacular the service and venue of this business is. I have bought a bird here and even brought my second bird whom was not purchased here for grooming. I literally never even buy anything for my birds from Anywhere else. George is the owner and is so knowledgeable and caring. He truly wants his business to be a place where his high quality at an amazing price birds, can find a forever home. This is a super store for all things birds!!! I have had birds most of my life and wish I had this store to find everything you could possibly want for the care of your birds. The sell birds that are hand fed which make a big difference in the bonding if you want a real pet bird. They offer wing and nail clipping only asking for donations for that service which is a big thing since there are hardly anyone out there except for Veterinarians that do that and it can get very expensive.
