I happened to be in the area today, and felt nostalgic, so I decided to relive my past with a good ol' two piece meal. First, the building has gone through a bit of an update since I've been there last; more open, brighter, cleaner. The ordering system was still the same, so muscle memory got me on track to ordering my wing and breast, with fries meal. That and a Arizona tea came to somewhere in the neighborhood of $8, which is ok with me. Everything was as I remember it, except the chicken. Now, while the wing was MUCH larger than before, the chicken breast had shrunk in size. Also, the chicken is ABSOLUTELY unseasoned. My wing was actually too lightly fried, which made the skin rubbery, so when I took it off to just get at the meat, the chicken was positively flavorless. I actually took the $2 haircut and just threw the wing away. The breast was fried fine, (remember, it's smaller, so it makes sense the breast cooked ok while the wing didn't), but it too was pretty bland, without the fried skin included in a bite. Fries were standard fare. I didn't hate my trip down memory lane, but for $8 I probably could've gotten a much better combo at Popeyes or KFC. I think it'll be my last trip to Lucky 7. I'm not in the area much, and even if I am now, I know that there are better options available. Still, if you are in a pinch, you could do a lot worse.

My family and I were in the city the week before Christmas just to see the tree at Rockefeller Center, so the energy was already special -- lights, crowds, that holiday feel in the air. It was a Saturday, so seating was tight, the wait was long -- a couple hours easy -- but we stayed. No complaints. No rushing. Just soaking it all in. The ambience, the noise, the movement, the culture -- all of it felt like part of the experience. When we finally sat down, it was worth every minute. That wasn't just a meal -- that was a memory. Family, city lights, Christmas season, legendary spot, good food, good energy. One of those moments you don't forget because it's tied to place, time, and people.

They list pastrami on their website, so I assumed it would be good. The worst pastrami sandwich that I ever ate. I was served some over processed meat on pseudo rye bread. It didn't even taste like pastrami and the texture was weird. Even the coleslaw was bad. Clearly these people know nothing about Jewish style deli. If you want real deli, go to Katz's.

Inside, the food was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. We chose side salads instead of fries and they were a great size to start the meal. I had the open‑face Turkey Reuben and the portion was definitely shareable and very good. My husband had the fish and chips and the cod was fried perfectly, 4 nice fillets, crisp outside and tender inside. He swapped the fries for a baked potato and it tasted like it came straight from the oven, hot and fluffy. They offered a long list of specials for 16.99 that included beverage, soup, salad, an entrée and dessert. The cakes and pies looked fabulous and many were ordering dessert. We were too full this time, but next visit we'll save room. Our waitress, Lala, was wonderfu, attentive, friendly and always checking in at the right moments. The manager greeted us warmly when we arrived and again when we left, which added to the friendly atmosphere. Plenty of parking and easy to get in and out. We would definitely recommend this diner and would happily return.

Soup came with - my cup of Chicken Pastina was very good and tasty. The salad was pretty good but the steak needed more flavor. The 1000 Island didn't taste homemade like at most other places I dine. They had a decent crowd for a Wednesday night. Their dessert case looked amazing and I heard two tables ordering cake and Oreo cheesecake!!! I hit the bathroom before heading out. Nice decor but dirty and a fly was hovering around. Sweet server named Emma was probably the highlight . One and done for me - sorry.

I ordered a whole turkey hoagie with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on the side. I did not know what to expect because the little computer kiosk did not do it justice for what size the sandwich would be. I figured out worst case I was split it with my mom or my husband. Well, this sandwich came out to be 1399. I got pickles and banana peppers on the side. They were a dollar each so my grand total ended up coming to $17.99. The service was actually really good. You could see how the staff there work as a team and they all help each other and they really have a good process there. It just seemed like it took a very long time. The place is neat and clean, but has a lot of stuff to buy inside and the deli area looks very clean and the staff wear gloves which is reassuring, but I didn't see anybody changing their hands or washing their hands, only wearing gloves.
