I cannot be more positive about my experience working with JVT Advisors. I was contacted directly by Chris Silva, a recruiter with JVT, who came across my resume on one of the job sites I'd had it listed. Chris was professional, asked all the right questions, provided all the details around the job and the company. We discussed a specific position that matched my background and experience and, after the initial phone screening, I went in and met with him at their office in Andover. I am completely in awe, even after my review a week ago, a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and a direct call to their main office (Spoke to Chris) telling them to stop all contact effective immediately. 1:32pm today, Spenser at JVT Advisors called me about a job opportunity they had, I cleared stated that they had been advised to not contact me again for any reason, and hung up the call, 1:35pm Spenser called back, and when I sent the call to voicemail he left me a detailed message about the position, and stated he would email me a full job description. I've given up on assuming they are professional or even rational. It started three years ago when I went out on a job interview. Unfortunately, I gave up my mobile number because I was on the road and they gave me the wrong directions. After the interview, they told me I got the job but an hour later said that it dried up and the company decided not to hire anyone. But despite my previous experience with them, they not only keep calling me back for jobs which do not match my skill set, but they keep calling me on my mobile phone. Today I got another call from them on my mobile phone, and they call every month or so. I have asked them politely in the past to not call me on my mobile phone but call me at my home phone number, but apparently they are attention-span-­deprived because they don't seem to remember (ever see the movie "Memento?") . Even though they keep saying sorry and will update the database, it never happens. Today "Brian" was very abrupt and took it personally that I told them to stop calling me on my cell (home okay) and challenged me when I said that we've been through this before. The staff seems to turnover rapidly, so I see this as another red flag. Enough said, I recommend you stay away from these guys, and relegate them strictly to the bush league.. Update 29 Sept 2014: Today a new "Brian" from JVT called me to tell me it was really "Ryan's" fault.. .On my mobile phone!, they still don't get it. Did they ever update the database? I'm currently working for JVT and so far have had a good experience. JVT has been around a long time, I've recieved calls from one of their reps year after year, and he sent me on many interviews over the years. I felt bad that I never scored a job with them becuase of the effort the rep put forth. In the end, I was finally placed and am currently working for them now. Here is what I like: There time system is super easy and only takes a second to record time each friday, this a positive thing since come friday the last thing you want to do is deal with a cumbersome reporting tool that makes it hard to get out of the office when you want to. When I asked them to see if my start date could be pushed out a week they called the customer and made it happen, I was impressed with this because many agencies won't work with you like this, they want you in that seat ASAP so they can start earning the $$$. I was impressed with this. I don't like it when an agency takes a stance on something as if "the policy" is edged in stone and can't be deviated from... please... we all know how rinky dink some of these agencies are.. those that stay focused on keeping everyone happy even when they are foreced to bend a bit are the ones you want to work for. As for the other review I read, why give your cell # out ever if you don't want people to call you on it right? I do give my cell out here and there, and I do get calls from agencies I have asked NOT to call me, but that is because thier management may still be stuck on forcing sales reps to make X # of calls per day or per week etc etc.. this is unfornate that some managers still think this way, when they should be focused more on results instead of trying to micro manage. Regardless, although JVT has called me over the years again and again, it has not been a burden in any way. IF I don't want to take a call on my cell I simply hit the ignore button and check the message later, its really that simple. So far JVT has done it right and my paychecks are deposited on time without any problems, which is the most important thing wtih any agency. and as for rates, well kiddies, that is up to you to be worth the money you ask for, and in the end, prove it during your initial interview. If you are worth it, you'll get paid. :) and one final note, my rep is John Wooldridge, he's laid back and great to work with. He does not pressure. This agency is not what they seem. Shame on me for not doing more research on them. I was called by JVT Advisors for a Business Analyst position because my resume was on Monster. Now I get a lot of calls through Monster from recruiters and for some reason, I called them back. After speaking with one of the owners, he said there was a position in my area and I was ready for a change so my interest was peaked. After speaking with him and hearing about the position, I had some concerns that I had voiced. I had not been in an IT position for a few years and my experience was very limited. He eased my concerns saying that they would be willing to train the right person that the position was open-ended but they had placed people there and had been there for years and that most of their IT staff were consultants. I had been at my former employer for over 5 years and was a little apprehensive but I went on an interview anyways. The interview went well and I was very honest with my experience and why I was interviewing. Needless to say, I was offered the job. After a few weeks where I was put on a large project that I had no experience, I voiced my concerns to my IT lead and how I was not comfortable. She said she was not sure why I was put on this task since I did not know there systems. This apparently went on deaf ears. Needless to say, there was no training. I was on my own with this huge stress. I reached out to JVT and asked if they had heard anything and if everything was ok since my confidence was lacking. I was always worried at that point if I was going to have a job. After a month, I was called by a JVT rep stating that the contract had ended. When asked for feedback, they said they did not know why however, after filing for unemplyment, there was a reason.. performance. They had done everything to get me in to make there money and then they lied to me. I asked if they had any other positions and they said they would get back to me. I never heard back. So here I am on unemployment. Thanks JVT for nothing. read more
