This hotel is in the heart of financial district of Guadalajara. It is not close to any of the sight seeing things in downtown, but it is a quick Uber ride away. We decided to Uber to not have to hunt for parking downtown. There is onsite valet parking. All employees are all very nice and friendly. Waiters are all super attentive and hard working. Cleaning staff all friendly and does a good job.
Room: 721, Junior suite. We were given a suite night upgrade and what a lovely suite. When you walk in, it is an impressive room with separate half bath in the living area. You have a door that separate the living from the bedroom area so you can have people over and keep the bedroom out of sight, the sitting area has a nice bar area with separate TV, coach, table and chairs to entertain. The windows are wrap around the entire room to get the view of the area. The natural light in the morning is wonderful. With closer examination, the furniture is showing its age. The table would fall over if you touch it, we had to prop a towel under the table to level it out. The fridge was broken and did not cool at all, we did report it, but it remained broken during our stay. The Illy coffee in the room is better than the JW Marriott coffee in the breakfast area.
Bedroom: With a nice King size bed with high quality bed linens. The bed is medium comfort and nice firm pillows. The TV is very nice size for the room, but limited channel selections and no Netflix or other smart channels, we got an HDMI cable to hook up our computer to watch movies. The hotel only had one HDMI cable that someone was borrowing, we went to Soriana down the street to purchase one. The chair in the bedroom is lovely curved shape like the ones in the breakfast area and very comfortable to lounge and read a book or look out the window. The curtains are automated, but sometimes they get stuck. Fiddle with the switch and they will start moving. Sleep quality is very good once night comes, during the day you hear street noise and plumbing.
Bathroom: gorgeous! There is the second toilet. Then a nice double sink. The lighting is a bit dark for makeup application, there is a mirror with light, but it casts shadows, so I opened the curtains and applied my makeup in the bedroom with all curtains open. Let the water run for a bit in the sink because the water was brown when we first turned on the water. Now the shower! What a luxurious rain shower head and wall vents. Oh I enjoyed my shower. The wall vents really put out water to really make the experience luxurious. Then the soaking tub! Marriott even provided soaking mineral salts, what a nice touch. Let the water run before filling the tub or taking a shower, for at least 10 minutes because the water was dark brown then turned yellow before it turned white. Not sure if the room is not used often enough so the water takes awhile to turn clear.
Closet: the wardrobe is impressive and goes all the way to the ceiling and has plenty of space to hang your clothes, but it is very dark since there is no light. There is iron, ironing board, umbrella. There is a safe in the closet, but ours was broken and did not lock. It errored out every time you tried to program it.
Gym: on the SK floor. Very nice, clean with many machines to meet anyone's needs. Water station to refill your water bottles, towels, earplugs, and fresh apples are available if you need a snack. Pool is outside the gym by the bar.
Concierge Lounge: we are Marriott Titanium and the lounge access is on the SK floor with plenty of interior seating and a lovely outdoor patio if the temperature is nice. The lounge provided free drinks including water, sodas, beer and there is a bartender that will make you whatever you desire. Our bartender made fabulous margaritas. There is also a tequila shot stand as well that is nicely decorated. The food provided is okay. The dishes are not temperature hot under the heat lamps. The sushi rolls and rice paper wrapped spring were okay, but we opted for fresh nuts to drink with our margaritas and took in the Guadalajara air on the outdoor patio. If you have status highly recommend to come up here around 5pm to take in the views and try a lovely drink. Breakfast is served here too, but we opted to eat in the restaurant.
Restaurant breakfast: on site restaurant and quality of food varies. As Titanium members breakfast was included. We choose eating here over the lounge. There is a nice buffet of all sorts of Mexican items, omelet station, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, and you can find whatever you need. If you have to pay, I recommend to order off the menu. The buffet items are not worth the price for tepid or cold food items.
Restaurant Dinner: Zibu. It is the same place as where you go for breakfast. It is a Thai Mexican fusion restaurant. It sounds weird, but Zibu knows how to execute on the idea. Recommend green curry or shrimp tacos with a side of rice and eat it as a curry. read more
