Told me his firewood was seasoned and ready for the season. I ordered a cord, it got delivered and looked clean. The piece the driver gave me to test looked good. After he dumped and drove away, I broke open a couple oak logs, they were at 42% moisture, completely unusable for at least another year. I called to complain and he kept lying and saying he did season it. Obviously not true. I absolutely don't recommend them. Very untrustworthy. read more

Have been a customer for years and this was the experience...given this is their busy season decided to email an order for firewood a week in advance. They confirmed date and time for delivery. Day of delivery comes....2 hrs go by after given delivery time. Call and was told we will get a call with delivery time. Hours go by without a call. Call again and told "definate delivery today". Come bedtime and no delivery as if yet. Called again. Told delivery for following week. Unacceptable. Bye. read more

I had a really large pine tree that was overhanging my driveway and dropping annoying sap on my car. I called and asked to get a quote to have the tree trimmed or taken down. John came out that day and met me after work and come to find out the 60-80ft pine tree was split down the middle to about 5ft above the ground level. John provided a fair price and due to concerns of the tree being split said he would have it down the next morning which they did. They did an awesome job and left the site immaculate. Today we had six large trees cut, removed and stumps ground by Studley Tree. It our second time using them and if you are looking for a tree service...look no further. I expected this to be a two day job. Yet they were here at 8am and done by 2. Not only the tree work but the clean up they did was amazing. You would never know any of those trees were ever there. Further, they did such a good clean up and raking that I called my fall clean up guy and said see you in the spring because my yard looks great. Pricing: very fair, particularly when you bundle in stump grinding. The crew: everyone knows their job and they operated like an orchestra. Efficient, thorough. Simply put : Pros. We used JW Studley to remove a dead tree from the front of our yard, as well as thinning several trees around the perimeter. Highly recommended! John stopped by to speak with us about what we were thinking. Took his time discussing what he would recommend would work best for our needs (we wanted more sun in our garden area that was no longer useable due to shade). He and his team came on time and on the date agreed upon. Very professional. Started at 8am and were done by approximately 1pm. Fantastic job! Full clean up. When grounding a stump, his men went through the trouble of hand-axing some pretty large roots to free up and move a sprinkler head that would have been damaged. I ordered firewood from JW Studley, but not this year. Since there are no reviews for them I thought letting you know what happened with my wood delivery may be helpful. When I called the phone number in the ad, it seems to go to a cell phone. I arranged a delivery of a couple cords of SEASONED wood. Delivery was arranged for a couple of days later with instructions to give cash to the driver. Delivery day arrives; a big truck backs into the drive way. This wood does not smell seasoned. The driver assures me it is when I question him. I've purchased wood before and although not 'fresh cut' I'm sure it's not been seasoned for a full year. I don't need it right away, so whatever. BUT, the price for seasoned is more than for unseasoned, so be aware of what you are buying. He dumped it where indicated and it was a full load, so no quarrels with the amount of wood in the delivery. The lengths are not consistent and some will not fit in my wood stove. I'm not sure they are able to give a specific size cut as they were all mixed together, but ask for the specific size your stove allows if you have a smaller wood burning stove. After seasoning it for several more months, I was still getting hissing and popping out of the wood as it burns and starting the fire was a process. As a result, ordered kiln dried from another vendor which is really great. Although the kiln dried costs more, it burns much longer than the wood I got from Studley so it sort of works out price wise. I use the kiln dried to begin the fire and then add the Studley wood once the fire is nice and hot. Although the hissing and popping leaves a lot of black inside the glass on my stove, I paid for it, so I'm going to use it. Because I have the kiln dried wood to supplement my wood stock, I should have enough of the Studley wood to dry over another year and it should burn much nicer next season. I did not use their tree services, so I cannot comment on that aspect of their business. I purchased a cord of "seasoned" firewood from them. In short, the delivered wood was dirty, so I had to brush each piece individually. And worse, it was wet, so that moisture bubbles from the splits when smoldering. It takes a great effort to get the wood burning as a consequence. Lesson-learned, I will not buy from them again. read more
