I was pretty nervous to go to this guy due to seeing a lot of the bad reviews. After getting it in finally he called me several times to update me on what was going on with my car (very appreciated). He has answered all my calls and questions (which have been a lot) with out getting upset or frustrated. I saw a comment that said all the good reviews were his friend and to not believe them. I am not one of this guys friends and so far I have no complaints. I have read all of the reviews and in the case that I could have had the same situation (like my card not going through on their end and them wanting me to bring my own oil) seemed to have been resolved. He did not ask me to bring in my own oil and is now only taking cash or check, I'm guessing due to card reader errors. As of now I definitely recommend this place. Prices have been great too. He has not tried to take advantage of me (I am female) but I also have a big scary aunt who knows a lot about cars. In need of a mechanic. This guy is pretty good.

I got a 2001 Chevy S10 with 93k miles on it a year before. Starting a new career in IT contracting, I figured it'd be a good idea to get my beloved little rustbucket looked at. This thing was, not just abused, but neglected for several years. Joe found every last problem with the motor. The sheer scope of issues with it that Joe managed to find and repair is insane. Thank goodness I had a nest egg saved up just for such an occasion. They invited me right over to the lift to see the problems with my own eyes. When I turned the truck in the next day, they were even kind enough to drive me home since I lived in Bellevue. Not just that, but when the truck was finally done after discovering even more issues (namely a timing chain so loose it's a wonder the truck ran at all, with the valves a full eighth of a rotation behind the crankshaft) and repairing them. It was held back for another day due to starting issues traced back to the timing sensor, something he insisted on eating the cost of due to how long it's been in service (about a week). After that they were happy to pick me up. The truck since then has been running like an absolute dream. I've driven 450 miles in the span of 3 days working all across Western Iowa/Eastern Nebraska, about a hundred miles out from the Omaha Metro at max. I cannot thank them enough for their incredible quality of service, mechanical and customer. I will not trust any other mechanic until I'm forced to stop going to Joe's.

After waiting, the worker finally returned--not only with my car but also with multiple bags of fast food for himself and his coworkers. The Only Honest Mechanic Left on Earth--And He's at AME Automotive…read more Are you sitting down? Because I'm about to blow your mind: honest mechanics still exist. And not just honest, but caring, skilled, and genuinely good people. If you're looking for "Bill and Al" at AME Automotive--congratulations, you've found automotive royalty. I've been taking my cars to Bill since I was 16. I'm 45 now, and AME is still my first (and only) call for anything with wheels. Why? Because Bill and Al are the kind of guys you wish you could clone and send into every shady shop in America. Their word actually means something, and a handshake from Bill is better than a notarized contract. "I got you, you and your family can trust me." And he means it. Honest pricing? Every time. No gimmicks? Never. Random "Oops, we broke something, you'll need a new $1,000 doodad" shenanigans? Absolutely not. Work done right the first time? Like clockwork. Bill does most of the work himself because he actually cares if your car runs perfectly. And then there's Al--the encyclopedia of auto parts, walking around quoting part numbers like some kind of gearhead savant. Ask him for a fan belt for an '08 Silverado and he'll say, "2x2 or 4x4?"--because, yes, those are two different belts, and Al's brain somehow holds that info. My whole family has trusted AME for decades. And they've earned that loyalty every single time. Quick story: Once, a helper (no longer there) parked my freshly detailed rims in the mud. I was frustrated but trying to let it go. Bill saw it, immediately apologized, and before I could even say a word, he said, "No payment. The labor, the parts, all on the house. I'm sorry this happened." He even offered to clean the car himself. WHO DOES THAT? Bill does. That's who. I realized while writing this that I haven't thanked Bill enough. So here it is: Bill, if you read this--THANK YOU. For your honesty, your integrity, your work ethic, and for running a business the right way. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my car, and you've earned every ounce of that trust. If you're tired of sketchy shops, extra charges, and "mystery repairs," bring your car to AME Automotive. You'll drive away thankful, every single time. -Bryan Hall
