The owner was incredibly rude and was so off-putting we immediately left the store within 2 minutes. Their ice cream was mediocre and overpriced. You're better off going to the Viking or another local store for ice cream. read more

A coworker and I were driving 4 hours across Iowa when we happened across K&B. First of all, it's a really neat town. Secondly, and most importantly, the restaurant was awesome. I had the Ostrich, cooked to medium rare on a Lava rock. It was delicious. Not just "I ate something different and didn't hate it", but actually delicious. The ambiance was great, also. Attended a bridal shower wine tasting followed by dinner here. Wow! Fabulous historic building with interesting architectural salvage throughout-no attention to detail spared! Excellent wine selection in basement wine cellar with ambiance galore. Went upstairs to the main restaurant for dinner and food was outstanding! Be sure to check out the Frank Lloyd Wright transom window and Prairie Style stained glass windows! Never experienced ROK cooking before; but everyone in the party had a blast. I chose the filet which was perfectly seasoned and cooked it to the exact temperature i wanted. Practically melted in my mouth. Other diners loved the scallops. Highly recommend this place if you are near Clear Lake. Worth the trip even if you have to drive a ways. read more

Nice building and lots to offer but they really need to change up the menu. Its to unique for the local population. A menu that rotated every few weeks would improve their customer count. read more

What an amazing place! They did an incredible job transforming the space, while simultaneously preserving all the character of the original building. Tried out the awesome wine cellar with a very good selection of wines of all prices. Next we ate dinner upstairs where we enjoyed the steak, calamari rings and alligator served on a 600 deg. stone. Everything was subtly seasoned to perfection. The staff was friendly and attentive. The owner even came out and chatted with us. Finally, as great as the restaurant was, the decor in this hundred year old building was, by itself worth the trip. A must do while in north Iowa! read more

I had a lovely time at K & B Emporium and had the pleasure to learn about the history of the building while taking a tour after lunch! The owner and her team have done a phenomenal job preserving and restoring the building, adding a little extra character and class to the Clear Lake, Iowa area. From lunch to a wide selection of wine/beer, to sweets, to trinkets and quality clothing, this emporium has it all - including a wine cellar downstairs!
