I am so torn. Sitting lakeside in the sunshine is a 5 star! That said- the food is beyond meh. The chicken Cesar wrap was like a salad inside a burrito shell. Not special- not particularly tasty- and a very small serving of French fries. The taco salad was also a strange mix with a few nacho chips. The best item was likely the build your own burger- that was also very stingy on French fries. I know we are used to large portions- but French fries are not an expensive side- so why so few? The drinks are pretty standard. We had Carbliss in the can- so nothing much to say there. The service tried- there seemed to be only 2 people working- and tending bar and serving is a lot when it's a beautiful sunny day and the tables are pretty full. I don't know- I might visit again because- lakeside, but the food would not have me returning. read more

Stayed at the hotel for a couple days. Beautiful scenery. On Monday, August 4th, I ordered a TACO SALAD at 7:30 at the bar and finally after checking with the bar tender twice, I received my cold burnt taco meat salad at 8:45. Wish I wouldn't have had to tip in advance. read more

Went on a Thursday night at 7pm, wasn't busy at all and waited at our table for 25+ minutes with no service and ended up leaving.

Great place to sit lakeside! We had lunch. Attentive help. Hubby had chicken wings and he said they good & meaty. He had lemon pepper dry rub. I had fish tacos & fries. Pretty dish, but very salty. One taco shell came split. They were tasty but just too salty. Maybe you can order without seasoning?? The fries were fresh & plentiful. Clean restrooms. View is 5 stars for sunset. Food is over priced for the area. Not all that crowded on a Friday night; 5 of us seated upon arrival at 8:05. Food was supposed to all come out together. A couple items came out as appetizers around 9, at which time one of our group was informed they didn't have what they ordered and had to order something else. Rest of the orders came out at 9:25, (almost an hour and a half, for those keeping score) When food came out, informed that bar had also closed, so no more drinks with your dinner. (Posted hours said open until 10). Food is decent. Summer toast was the table favorite. Wings (dry rub) seasoning was good, but pretty anemic/small pieces. Lobster roll was okay for being in Iowa. Summary: Have a few drinks somewhere else, go for the view and maybe an appetizer. Total price with tip for 5 for a couple drinks and light dinner was almost $250. read more

Once we sat down to eat this place was pretty decent. Selection was limited for my picky kid, but I can always find something to eat. There wasn't much in the way of vegetarian options. Can't beat sitting out on the dock in the summer. The only real hang up was it took a while to sit down. It wouldn't be that bad since it was such a nice day, but there's no where to wait. It's a hotel too, so everywhere to wait seems like you're on someone's terrace. Anyway, I don't think there's another place quite this nice in town, so I'd say make a reservation & enjoy the lake views. read more

Tonight I had the misfortune of falling for the aesthetics of this establishment. To start off my journey, my midsized SUV (Chevy Equinox named Bessy) and I had a hard time finding an accommodating parking spot, as the only parking near was reserved for hotel guests. My party of five and I were absolutely starved upon arrival, and to our amazement; I would like to preface all staff was very nice, quick, and hard working. However, the evening took a turn when I received my chicken bruschetta sandwich. I can say with almost complete clarity, this was NOT chicken. I almost asked the kind waitress because I was so sure I had received fish. The fishy aromas expelling from the meat were otherworldly. The texture of the meat was sub-par, and the preparation was dry, fishy, and overall bland. To call this chicken is a crime in and of itself. Unless I am unaware of a new cross breed of chicken and fish, this is truly abnormal. The menu is in need of clarity as much as the food needs adequate seasoning and sauce. In conclusion, these two stars come simply from the amazing service provided by the staff, and the speed at which we were accommodated. read more

Nice place to boat up to, if you drive be careful where you park as the lot across the street is primarily meant for vehicles with boat trailers and the CLPD just loves to issue $25 parking tickets to unsuspecting folks contributing to local commerce. Food is a bit pricy, but what isn't??......afternoon and late day sun on the east shore can be nothing short of miserable, so go on a cloudy day. What a beautiful location right on Clear Lake. We stopped in for lunch on our way North and it was well worth the jaunt off I35. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The wine was delicious and priced very well. We both had the Starboard greens salad with grilled chicken. The salad was sooo good and the chicken was cooked perfectly, moist and delicious. I love this place. I've seriously never been disappointed. Sure you might have to wait for a seat, but it's well worth it. Eating lakeside is so beautiful and it helps with delicious food! These Crab Ragoon nachos were amazing!! I usually get a salad of some sort and both that I have got there were amazing. I've also tried the Fish Tacos and they're well worth it! This place rocks, spring berry salad is where it's all at! So many things in the salad including fresh strawberries and carrots and many more. I get the salad with the French dressing which really complements everything that the salad has to offer and it's a huge bowl. By the time your done you are full. This restaurant also has the best root beer I have ever had. It's called Millstream Old-time Root Beer and it's brewed in Iowa. If your a root beer connoisseur or just like a good soft drink I highly recommend this. Also awesome views of clear lake since it's right on the lake. Restaurant is only open if the weather is nice since it's all outside. They do have a tint area but still outside technically. read more

We had to wait a little while for a table because the dining area is pretty small, and it's a popular place. It was well worth it. The views of the sun setting on the lake were spectacular. The food was also surprisingly good. I had a mahi sandwich that was as good as any I've had in Florida. The only downside was that being a bar, there were a lot of obnoxious drunks packed into a very small area. One in particular was constantly stumbling into me and my chair. It got to the point where we almost had to take it outside. It would be nice if the restaurant would monitor some of that a little so it wasn't quite so unpleasant for their sober customers. read more

I'm torn between a 1 and 2 star rating only because the service was so awful but our party of four had the entire bill comped. Along with that, we were told they were out of a specialty cocktail drink, side salad and Coors Light at about 6pm on a Saturday night. We weren't checked on for more drinks much at all prior to our meal. We saw tables come, eat and LEAVE before we got our food. It felt like our waitress plain forgot about us. When our food did come... one meal seemed like the portion was pretty small (piece of bread cut in half rather than two pieces of bread sandwiched together). Another was the rotisserie chicken with a fairly large bone in her sandwich. My sandwich was served "no veggies" but I never ordered my Philly cheese steak that way so I had I wait about 5-10min without food while the rest of our group ate. When my meal came back to the table the meat wasn't cut up well so with each bite a majority of the meat came off the sandwich. I think our entire group was exceptionally disappointed because we had heard good things. Definitely will not be back. read more

Probably the best restaurant I've been to in Clear Lake so far. I was confused how to get to the patio and where to park. You have to walk around the hotel to get to it. I also did not understand that all the seating is outside. But we had a pretty view of the lake and the waitress immediately brought us an umbrella to block the sun. We had the Crab Ragoon Nachos to start and some beers from Lake Time Brewery. Nachos were good but I wish there was more crab on it. We each got a burger which were very tasty! Menu is on the smaller side but we enjoyed everything and will definitely come back before summer is over. read more

First time to clear lake and it's amazing. We decided on the Landing for lunch as we heard they have a great view. We were informed by locals ahead of time that the food wasn't amazing but it was worth a visit for the view. When we arrived, I didn't have high expectations and when I looked around at other customers plates, they looked really good. However, I was EXTREMELY disappointed even with having low expectations to begin with. When I received my margarita it had 2 bugs in it and without wanting to cause a fuss I told my mother in law to get her opinion if I should send it back or not... she responded saying she had a bug in hers too! The margarita was pure syrup, and $9. I probably should have just ordered a tequila soda with lime and it would have been 10 times better. The limes as the garnish were BROWN. Why they would send it out with a lime that was rotten is beyond me. I ended up ordering the fish tacos. They were good, except BROWN produce must be their trademark because the avocado on my tacos was so brown I couldn't eat it. My 2 stars are for the view, and their fries. I ordered the carrot and parsnip fries which were really good and a nice change. I wouldn't care to ever go back here, unless forced to, and even then I wouldn't order food or drinks. Maybe a beer, because you can't really screw that up. read more

Argh. I've been coming here regularly since. I'm going to give up. It's okay when it's just us, but so embarrassing t bring guests to. This place and the Tiki Bar are tied for the worst of the worst examples of terrible service. Occasionally the food is very decent at either place - if you still have an appetite after it shows up. If it's assured you would be better off getting your own drinks, service that doesn't exist, and food that is 50/50, you'd be better off staying home. Sadly a monopoly exists on the lake. And of the three only The Muskie Lounge delivers. My saddest regrets take a moment on my day off to finally vent. Hopefully brighter days ahead at Clear Lake. read more

The space is fantastic right on the lake. Cocktail and beer menus were great! The food however, not so great. I'd love to see the food get better so we could come back here again and enjoy the patio with a cocktail. This place is all about location, location, location. One of only three places actually on Clear Lake the views are beautiful. All seating is outdoor, with some under cover, so this place is only open in the summer. You can even park your boat at the dock and walk up up dine. The food is average in most cases with some portions falling on the small side. The biggest issue is the menu is pretty limited for food. A decent appetizer selection and only about 8-10 different entrees. (Several of which are just variations on a theme.). A nice bar selection though so for drinks on the lake this is a good choice. Just not great for dinner. The prices are a little high and food is just average in taste and presentation. The service is quite slow. The place is always busy because of it's location, but the service staff does not seem to be efficient at all. They don't have a good system of queuing for a table either so things can be quite frustrating that way. Ending our meal (get box, get check, get checked out) has taken over 20 minutes on several occasions. Unfortunately it just isn't that great although it's always nice to done alfresco on the lake. read more

My mom loved her shrimp but it was served with a vegi-kabob that never touched the grill and was served raw. It was much better after it was cooked. The onion rings were good. It's a little place tucked behind the Clear Lake Inn that's right on the water. This is our 3rd time through on our annual sojourn between MN and CO. The mahi mahi fish tacos are excellent. Seems to be a favorite of this place. The service is super friendly and helpful. We had Theresa who was amazingly helpful and very nice. Even their fried food tastes good rather than greasy. I have been to The Landings several times. Usually enjoyed it, but went there August 6, 2016 and ordered dinner and a Moscow Mule. Server required that I give her my drivers' license in return for the copper mug. Ate, returned the mug but left not thinking and did not get my license back. Discovered my DL missing teh next week and contacted Tammy at the bar. She checked and said they had my license. She said they would mail it to me. They did not mail it. Stopped at the bar two weeks later and again spoke with Tammy. They did not have my license. I politely contacted the manager a few days later and she said "You should have picked it up", also "If it was here I would have mailed it", also "We send a LOT of licenses back in the mail". I made the point that I now had no idea who had my drivers' license, with all the personal information it contained. I politely asked for the bar to provide a year's identity theft protection (Life Lock or similar) and reimbursement for the cost of a duplicate license. Manager flat refused. Bottom line: 1) Really bitchy manager with no sense of customer service at all. 2) REALLY bad policy. No need to take a drivers' license to secure the return of a $10 mug. Could have put a $20 charge on the bill and removed it when the mug was returned. I will go back to the Landings once more -- to order a Moscow Mule, refuse to provide my drivers' license, and throw the d__n copper mug in the lake -- right where they can find it. read more
