While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. Payment was made in multiple installations. As it happened, the amount paid was nearly $2,000 more than the work ultimately completed as certain windows did not end up needing to be replaced. Starting in June 2015, after the work had been completed, I began my attempts to have my overpayment returned. As of today, more than 8 months later, I still do not have that refund. These guys have lied time and time again about their intention to return the overpayment. Multiple times they have claimed to mail it to me or drop it off at my house, yet mysteriously it's gone each time I check. They admit they owe this money, and yet they refuse to return it. John Knudtson, one of their employees and the one I've had the most frequent interactions with, has been absolutely no help at all. If you're considering working with him in a personal capacity, I would strongly advise against doing so. You can count on never receiving responses and being outright lied to on a regular basis. This has been the least professional interaction I've ever had with a business. It appears that they plan to scam their customers and hope they don't have the wherewithal or motivation to take them to court to get their money back. Stay far, far away from Tobin Millwork or any of their affiliated entities.
