The stylist had multiple clients at the same time. To say she was distracted is an understatement. I'm not tender headed, however I have never had anyone rip at my wet hair with a round brush before. It hurt. And she didn't seem to care. I also got an eyebrow wax. Co workers knocked on the door incessantly and she continued to be incredibly distracted. About four days after the appointment the scabs healed on my eyelids (thanks to treatment by my dermatologist). However the holes in my hair are still there... Don't waste your time. Don't sacrifice your hair. And don't waste your money, they will nickel and dime you and hit you with a bill at the end that doesn't seem to compute. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Have had my hair done 2 at this establishment and both times I've loved the color. The first cut, the stylist went a little crazy and took off way more than I asked for so I made sure the second visit to a new stylist understood to just TRIM my hair. That being said, I left with a great cut and love my hair. I love the fact that they are a "no tip" business. After color cut and style, it's really pricy and with them figuring the whole visit into one price, it takes the stress of trying to figure out what would be an appropriate tip. They moved across the street recently and are in the Beals parking lot on the bank end. Would recommend this place. read more

For hair, yes this place is great. For makeup, it's terrible. I got my makeup done by Madison for a wedding and it turned into a huge mistake. I asked for a smokey eye and what I got was a hot mess all over my face. First, the foundation she chose for me was about 3 shades too dark. When I asked for her to go lighter, she tried to convince me this matched my skintone even though I had a huge line showing otherwise. I had to plead just to get that corrected. My eye makeup was a mix of gold and brown shimmer that she "loved" even though I asked for blues and silver. When I asked for eyeliner, she again tried to refuse saying that wouldn't go. The colors weren't remotely blended in together and were not symmetrical on both eyes. No mascara was applied either...for a SMOKEY EYE!! What? I basically paid for a makeup application, only to be told what she thought looked good without any input from me. I came home and washed the entire thing off and will never go back. read more

A couple of years ago, I decided that I needed to actually find a colorist to do my hair instead of crossing my fingers with the Sally's do-it-yourself approach. I had a dark red that I wanted to bring back to something close to my own color with a few foils just for fun. This is an Aveda salon, so you get what you expect from Aveda. The products and services are fantastic, but you should be prepared to pay for what you get. I alternate between doing just base color and then base plus highlights every other trip, which leaves me paying just under a hundred to just over a hundred each time. I used to balk at paying that much to get my hair done, but when it comes to color I just can't see screwing around with it. Elaine is the master stylist that I go to, but all of the stylists there seem to know their stuff. There is not a lot of turnover in staff either, which I always take as a sign that employees are being treated right. Everyone is always friendly without hovering. My husband gets his hair cut here too and he has always been very happy with the results. It's a big city salon out in the hill country, so if you are looking to save yourself some extra driving, don't hesitate to book an appointment at the Spring Branch K Charles. How convenient you guys post your Covid-19 measures after turning my wife away at the door on the day of her scheduled appointment! She wasn't notified prior to her coming in and per CDC guidelines my wife has never been exposed to Covid. Well, the review explains everything. ATTENTION ALL HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AND FRONTLINE WORKERS: DISCRIMINATORY AND UNEDUCATED BUSINESS PRACTICES TAKING PLACE HERE! My wife, mother in-law, and son have been visiting this location for over two years, however my wife was recently turned away for a pre-scheduled one month advance appointment because of her Nursing profession and previously treating possible Covid patients. Her profession requires her to treat patients for Covid, while utilizing all required protective equipment, so she was never exposed (per current CDC guidelines). This was all explained to Holly who still turned my wife away. My wife attempted to educate Holly on what constitutes exposure, however she mentioned they are taking orders from "management". My wife left the store very humiliated. Holly (manager) and other members of this store know my wife and her profession, yet they failed to inform my wife of their misinformed "policies" until she showed up on the day of her appointment. These policies were not provided at the door and nothing was sent out to customers in advance. I consider this situation a blessing and will no longer allow my family's money to be spent here. So much for the support of front line workers, who tend to be more diligent in following precautions than most people. read more

Don't use a Jr "stylist" unless you want to pay $200 for someone who doesn't know what they're doing. I went in to have my roots touched up (I'm very blonde) and after getting processed, I still had the same amount of roots. It looked like she didn't even touch them and just changed the color of my already blonde hair, which was not good either. I had to ask for someone else and after sitting for 4 1/2 hours and being processed twice, I still left with a mediocre touch up and only the front half of my head fixed AND was still charged for full foils. I had a wonderful experience with K Charles in Spring Branch. Everyone was professional and so sweet. It has all of the amenities expected from an Aveda salon. I absolutely adore Shelly! First, she really took the time to listen to what I was wanting. She took notes on my ideas and pinterest photos. I had long, bleach damaged hair, and she worked out a plan to still give me some highlights while maintaining the health and integrity of my hair. I was very disappointed in this salon that I and my family have been going to for the past 2 + years. I was turned away from my appointment yesterday because as a nurse practitioner I come into contact with COVID + patients. This company has much to learn about what constitutes an exposure and what does not. If I'm healthy and have a normal temperature I should be treated like all other non-medical clients. I should've been provided the services I was looking forward to, my appointment was made 1 month ago. I also should've received a call back, as Holly said "she would get back to me after she spoke to the owner." Very disappointed. I wonder if they would also turn away police officers and other first responders? They have lost great customers. We will not be going back. read more

I've been to K Charles in Bulverde about 6 times for an $80 hair cut. Each time, the hairdresser has to be reminded to trim my bangs. She should not have to be reminded to do that! The last time I was there, she cut the back of my hair wrong and it would not turn under properly. I struggled with it for 10 days and then decided to go back for a "fixer" cut. They were going to charge another $80 for the "fixer" cut! They said their rule is that the customer only has 7 days for a fix up. I'm never going there again! In addition, their phone system is goofy. It puts the caller on hold for a long time just to make an appointment. And twice, they have scheduled me for a time other than what I agreed to. I would NEVER recommend this salon to anyone!!! read more

went in for a perm and when I got home hair went straight. I called and they said come in and we will look. Well I went back days later and they washed my hair and told me some spots in the back was a little wavy. She sent me home and told me to think about if I wanted a perm just on top or a refund. Well I called to say I want a refund and well the manager is rude and saying I got what I wanted. Um $230 for straight hair that I already had is Not what I wanted. read more

Paid two hundred dollars for a cut and color! Color washed out in two weeks and the cut was the worst cut I ever had. Layers left long and was impossible to style! I put a lot of product on my hair, and the cut was still a nightmare to style. Never experienced anything to bad in my life. Would recommend you do not waste your money here. Over rated! read more

My daughter is home for a quick visit from college and needed her lash extensions filled. I suggested that she give KC a try as I had great experiences there with blowouts and thought if they offered lash services they would probably be great. She was SOOOO happy with her service today. They even offered her a complimentary brow and lip wax because there was an esthetician from another KC shadowing and needing the training. I moved to a new area of town and needed to find a new stylist but I am always reluctant because a good hair stylist is hard to find! After finding K Charles & Co., I decided to take a chance and try it out. What a mistake!!!! I had all of my hair chopped off (and had short hair to begin with so there wasn't much left by the end!) and the cut was nothing like the photos I brought to show the stylist exactly what I wanted (it wasn't even a drastic change from the style I had before I sat in the chair). During my haircut, about five employees stood nearby and just stared which made me even more uncomfortable. I was SO upset and had to go somewhere else (Artistic Edge) to see if they could salvage the little hair I had left. (Luckily, they were and I have been a very happy client ever since! I wish I just gone to them in the first place). I got a call a month later to book another appointment and explained why I was never going to return and the receptionist didn't seem to care or offer that I speak with the owner...absolutely no attempt to rectify what had happened. A friendly staff. Chose a senior stylist to do a style only. It was no better than a Great Clips or a Super Cuts would do. My style only lasted 15 minutes and then it went flat. The prices are too high for what you get. I was charged $55.00 for just a style. They did say I could come back for free.
