Posted before but I think it went to the wrong studio. This is for the Fixx Hair Studio in New Braunfels, Texas. In June of 2024, after a lot of research and reassurance by stylist Kara, I entrusted The Fixx Hair Salon, and Kara, to create the hair style that I had been waiting over two years for. My mom worked hard to save the money to give this to me as a birthday present, and I was so excited. I showed Kara very detailed photos of what I was looking for, a natural blonde bailage with smudged root (not stripes), and I also expressed my fear of letting anybody touch my hair, and why. She assured me that she was a Level-5 stylist and that she'd take great care of me. I arrived at 8:00 a.m. Kara knew I had to work a late afternoon shift that day and assured me I'd be well taken care of and out the door in plenty of time. Before this, I'd taken about two years to finish growing out the old color, and getting it back to health after losing some of it to chemo about a year ago. My hair was finally thick, healthy and a NATURAL canvass. I wanted a natural blonde bailage, with smudged root, and not the bleached, fried, yellow/white striped, thin mess it became. Kara COMPLETELY ruined my hair! When she initially rinsed my hair out after her first attempt, she looked at it and said, "Oh no, I don't like this, it does not look good". There were very harsh lines and white and "yellow" highlights that looked like stripes, and were far from the "natural blonde" color I had requested. Nothing was blended at all, and my hair was already damaged at this point. In an attempt to fix it, she put even more blonde in it, that was way too bleachy and harsh for my hair, and proceeded to leave it in my hair for over 40 minutes while she was working on other clients! At this point, I started sobbing. Lauren, the owner, walked right by me, looked at me and did absolutely nothing. She didn't even ask what was going on, or show any compassion seeing that I was clearly upset over that damage that Kara caused, and was continuing to make even worse. As an owner/manager, she did nothing to find out what was going on, or see that she needed to get that stuff out of my hair since Kara had wandered off to work on other clients. Kara also did nothing except let me sit there sobbing while working on two other clients. She didn't even check it herself, she had one of her "non Level 5" assistants poke at it. People were staring at me. I was completely humiliated. The entire 7+ hours I was there, Kara did maybe 20 minutes of the actual job. She did not care what she had done to me, and passed me on to someone else so that she could process her other clients who could have waited. My hair was completely fried. The ends were breaking off in my hands. Kara cut so much out, it was uneven and you could see my neck through my hair! My hair was naturally curly, and Kara cut all the curl out from under my hair, and layered it in a way that I may as well be bald. My hair was almost down to my waist and I only wanted an inch off the length. But because my ends were SO damaged at this time and crisping off, Kara tried to fix it by proceeding to cut several more inches off. As I was leaving the studio (7 hours later), still sobbing, Kara said, "I'll call you tomorrow and we'll get this fixed". Three months later, nobody has reached out, apologized, or even acknowledged how incredibly upset and traumatized I was. I sent a letter to the owner, asking her how she could let this happen, asking if she could get in touch with me, and no response. They probably felt that if they ignored me, I'd just fade away and nobody would speak of this beyond nightmare experience. I even called a few times to follow up and one time she was on vacation, and the next time the person said she was there, but then when they knew what the call was about, they got back on the phone and suddenly she wasn't there that day. After being assured that I'd be taken care of on time, I ended up not leaving the studio so late that I had to call my work and miss my shift. Not only would I have been late, but I couldn't show up looking like the way I did, and my eyes were swollen shut from crying so hard. I had to go to another salon to have them at least "try" to fix this damage, which cost me $350.00, plus extra in products to try to help fix the fried damage. I had to wear my hair up in a claw clip for three months before I could wear it down, but to this day, the fried ends are still breaking off, but thankfully, it's slowed down. I do not recommend this studio, they don't care about their customers as you can see from some of the other reviews. I wish I would have see the reviews before I went. NOTE: the photos are taken from the salon I went to right after this to try to get it fixed, before they did anything. He wanted to document the damages. I meant to leave a review after i came in BUT i was with a stylist named Kirsten who was absolutely amazing. She did my hair blew it out for free and literally was so profesional. She went over all the products that I use at home so that I could find some new one's to use that might better for my hair. I thought this was just going to be a free service i found on nextdoor but after meeting her I definitely plan on coming back. She went out of her way to show me some colors that would look good on me as a highlight so maybe ill come back for that. On top of that the salon themselves went out of their way to call me and see how I liked my service and just made me feel so welcome. loved my stylist and loved the salon. I have no words. Or more accurately, I have no positive words. I'm still in utter shock. I've literally never had a worse hair cut in my entire life. I am still trying to process my experience and try to force myself to have an open mind, but I'm still so upset. Beyond upset. Honestly I'm pretty pissed too. But mostly so sad. This evening I went to The Fixx Hair Studio (the one located next to Jason's Deli) for an appointment with a woman named Sam. Now, I feel like it should be said, I feel awful for calling her out publicly this way. I myself worked at and managed a high end hair salon (Fusion Salon in Lynchburg VA) so I know how reviews affect a small business. However, if one of my stylists had provided an experience with a result this upsetting, I would understand the poor review. I explained to Sam that I had been struggling with hair loss, damage, and thinning due to my recent diagnosis of PCOS. I told her I wanted to cut my hair short to get any and all dead, damaged, or frizzy hair to give my hair a fresh start and a chance to really come back to life. She was very sweet and receptive to all of my insecurities and concerns I had. I also explained to her that my best friends wedding is this Saturday (I'm a bridesmaid) and that I've been putting off a hair cut because I knew it needed to be shorter than I wanted it for the wedding. But that it got to the point where I'd rather it look shorter and healthy in photos than long and damaged. I also explained I was worried about it being too short, and I expressed many times that I didn't want it above my shoulders. That I wanted to be able to put it in a pony tail. I also explained I wanted it to be the same length all around. Not shorter in the back. And a slight face frame as I was growing out my bangs. We went through multiple "inspo" photos and narrowed it down to one that we both liked. She double checked with me about the length, explaining "When the hair touches the shoulder, the ends flip out. Are you okay with that?" I told her yes, I was fine with the hair flipping out. That I'd rather it touch my shoulders and flip out than not touch my shoulders at all. She said okay. She agreed with me. We were on the same page... or so I thought? Sam did a minor dry cut, getting rid of a lot of dead ends since it was pointless washing the hair that was about to be cut. We went to the wash room. She was a little rough in the bowl, but over all, no problems there. Once Sam (quite roughly) brushed through and sectioned off my hair, she had me tilt my head down and started cutting. From the first cut, I immediately knew it was shorter than I wanted. She chopped. And I mean CHOPPED the little baby hairs at the back of my neck. The hair there is about an inch to an inch and a half long from my hair line now. Not even REMOTELY close to my shoulders. Several inches above. Once she got to the front and I felt the sheers around my jaw line I started panicking. I kept my eyes closed the entire cut because I was afraid I'd start crying in the chair. Or yelling at Sam. Once she asked me to bring my chin up, I opened my eyes and was in utter shock. My WET hair was just below my jaw line. I knew once it was dry it would be ever shorter. And even shorter when curled or naturally wavy. I tried to keep my cool. Tried to talk myself into liking it. But the fact that I was going to be a bridesmaid in a wedding in T-Minus 6 days, where the photos will last forever, I couldn't contain my emotions. Sam blow dried my hair and used a round brush. She curled the ends under, giving my hair a long bob affect. It was already so short in the front (just below my jaw) and I could tell it was even shorter in the back. (which I had explicitly expressed I DID NOT WANT). The cut didn't even resemble ANY of the inspo photos we went through. Once she was done drying my hair she said "It turned out better than I thought it would, how do you like it." I said as calmly as I could "It's much shorter than we discussed." I think that's when she finally realized I was not okay. She said "I know. Let me grab a mirror so you can see the sides and the back and get the whole effect." At that point I couldn't hide my disappointment. Sam, in my opinion, started to seem flustered. She handed me a mirror. I looked, and started crying. I said something along the lines of "I can't even look at it. I don't understand. It's so short." She said, "I know I'm sorry, I just thought this length would lay better on you. I didn't want you to have an awkward cut or length." I said "We agreed it would touch my shoulders. I told you I was afraid of it being too short or not touching them. We talked about the flip out of the hair and how I said I was okay with it." She said, "I know I'm sorry. I just thought this would be better. I'm sorry." I was in shock. I couldn't believe her response. I couldn't believe she deliberately did everything I said I DID NOT WANT and WAS NERVOUS/ SCARED about because SHE THOUGHT read more

CUSTOMERS BE AWARE... some of their COVID-19 policies are not being followed. I chose to go to The Fixx at I-35 due to the policies written on the website. A gentleman was in the shop prior to his hair cut with his mask very low on his face. So low I could see his mustache at all times and his teeth when he talked. He lingered before and after despite the website saying only appointments will be allowed in during their appointment time. After his haircut l, he stayed chatting with several staff with his mask at his chin, and not social distancing. I was disappointed that not one staff member requested he wear his mask correctly or practice their business policy while customers were still in the shop. I tried calling the owner and we haven't been able to touch base. As for the haircut. It's was just ok. I was just wanting to get it over with so I could leave the building. Had to do some touch ups on my own as my hair had some exceptionally long pieces. This wasn't my regular stylist, who I adore, but was on leave. However, I won't be returning to The Fixx. read more

I'm from LA visiting family in NB and this is absolutely outrageous pricing and way above what's even normal in LA. I understand she is an "educator". I asked for pricing over the phone and they wouldn't even give me a range because I couldn't come In for an assessment being that I was in California. We settled on $250 for partial. She assured me that she was blending the roots so that the grow-out wasn't so obvious. You be the judge of the job she did. They require about $50 to hold your appointment and if you don't show up, THEN they charge you. I noticed on my bank account that they processed it anyway despite being on time to my appointment. I asked for a scissor cut but I was talked into using shears on the sides because the Ladie stated she was much faster with shears. I recently moved to New Braunfels and I wanted to find a new hair artist in the local area. I found Karen on Instagram (@glamourk.beauty) and loved her work! I am a new mom, and I was feeling totally drabby... like I was about to go Miranda Lambert and get the kitchen sissors out! Lol. She was totally empathetic and flexible to accommodate my schedule and squeezed me in for a same day appointment! She is as sweet in person as she is on social media! I'm so happy that the highlights are low maintenance and blended beautifully, so I can go 10-12 weeks inbetween appointments, and they will grow out nicely. She confirmed with me about the bangs, and I told her I am still committed! She cleaned them up and told me to let her know when I need a bang trim ans she will squeeze me in-between my highlight services! During my first appointment, I showed Karen a photo of a low maintenance highlight look I wanted to achieve for summer. She was able to quote me for the highlight service and showed me some products she would recommend to maintain my hair health hand help the highlight stay fresh! I normally get my hair cut by Lana and she always does an amazing job. I would highly recommend her. So I called to make an appointment but she was booked up for two weeks. I was in desperate need of a cut. They offered a different stylist instead, Betsy. I asked for a simple trim with a face frame. Instead I end up with a chunk of hair that's noticeable uneven. It's horrible! I can't understand how such a simple cut is botched when this is all they do. Extremely disappointed. I was recommend this salon through a neighbor but not a specific stylist. The last stylist I had before she moved, I was with over 7 years so I am very loyal to whoever I get along with and does good work. During my visit, I had Karen. I was initially excited because she's young and has dark hair like I do so I figured she would know how to best work with my hair. We were chitchatting and she just missed the mark on conversation. She asked about me moving here and my kids and whatnot. She would sound engaged but then literally ask me the same question or ask me a different question like "so you have family nearby?" after i just said "my sister lives in SA"... I mean I know it's not critical that a stylist has people skills but shoot, you're with them for hours at a time. And if it was just the lack of communication skills but her hair styling was on point, that would also be different but I wish I had photos.. I have short hair. Hair above my shoulders. I was quoted a max of $300 to get some highlights added to some exisiting highlights depending how much product was going to be used. I also asked for a more a-line cut but then she straight up said, no, i'm just going to even it out. I don't know why I just trusted her but I left ended up paying all of the $300 + tip and hating my cut and color. I'm so bad with not saying something up front but I did say that I was going to have to get used to it and the longer that I had to look at my hair it pissed me off. I even had hair in the shower that I can see that were colored, dark, and spots of color on one strand. There were so many hairs like this as if it wasn't colored evenly. On top of that, she only did highlights on the top layer and all my underneath hair was all dark and it looked AWFUL from the back. I went to the Fixx 2 for color and a trim. I had looked at the service fees before I came in. When I left my charges were twice what I expected. They don't itemize the charges, they just slip in additional fees that you have not approved, for example conditioners, etc. They also pressure you to buy their products, which gets OLD.... I liked my hair but will not return because of their business practices and prices. They should ask permission before adding additional services without your approval. I was pleased with my hair color, but uncomfortable about the charges. read more

I told Peyton (level 1) that i pull red and i want cooler blonde tones. 3 hours later, my roots are a brassy orange color. i mentioned this when she was drying my hair, but she said it is not red/orange??? I was referred from a friend and the first and second time I went, although both times were lengthy, I was satisfied with my outcome. I went there on a Wednesday (9/25) night and had highlights done and the highlights looked good for a twenty something who didn't have any grey hair. I didn't notice all of the greys because I didn't take my glasses inside and couldn't tell. Well, I'll be 40 in December and I came in explaining several times that I had used spray root touch up and it was in my hair. Laura used a wipe to wipe part of the product out, but I again explained that I had a lot of it in their because my hair was very grey. I told her I thought we had booked an all over appointment to do a full set of highlights since that's what we went over last time. She informed me I was just there for a partial highlight. Now, I'm not the hairdresser but you have a client telling you verbally 3 times in the chair she has several grey hairs (shows you the bottle of root touch up she used) and the last two times she came in you did the entire head (it had been 6 weeks since my last appointment) and I believe she should have known I needed my grey hairs covered as well. Once we were rinsing it out she said "oh wow all of this brown is washing off" I again said, remember I told you (and showed you) the root touch up spray I used all over my head. Long story short, I love her personality and her abilities, but was left with highlights I cant wear in public because I'm completely covered in grey hairs. I reached out Friday morning via email and then a follow-up call that afternoon, all with hesitation only because I really like Laura, but I got the voicemail and left a message. I was called back Saturday and told to email pictures to Stacy which I did the same day. Here we are 1 week and 2 days later and I have a party to go to and no one has ever called me back to fix my hair. So today I bought hair color to do myself since I wasted $200 on a hairdo I cant show off in public without root touch up. Due to the way this was handled I wont be going back again. read more

I did not realize the Fixx Hair Studio had 2 studios ‍ I Went in their 2nd location today on North Business and they denied me service because I wrote a truthful poor review on their Walnut location a few years ago. The Walnut location quoted me an incorrect pricing & got upset when I wouldn't pay more than what they told me it would cost. They said the girl that quoted me a price was wrong because she was in training but honestly that's not my fault. I would not of got my hair done that day if I would've known the price they were 'supposed' to quote me because I wouldn't of have the $ for it. Anyways... I went into their 2nd location today on North Business to get a bleach re-touch and a trim but the manager came out & told me that she was not going to allow her staff to service me because of the 'nasty review' I left a few years back. I told her I left a bad review for another hair business not the place we were in but she said 'we own both businesses'. Moral of the story... they still have poor management & they still don't appreciate people's honesty on online reviewing (let alone make it right). Terrible company integrity. Upon arriving for my scheduled appointment, I am told that the stylist I made a reservation with is currently doing someone else's appointment. I am bluntly told that since the client getting their hair done has visited this salon more times than I have, that the client who did not originally have the reserved appointment time was given my slot. I am then asked if I would like to reschedule, this is unacceptable behavior. Not only does this salon not uphold their promises, they find it appropriate to freely schedule someone else over an existing reservation. When I asked questions regarding my hair or even trying to keep conversation going I was given blunt and short answers back. I just wanted all over highlights to get my hair super blonde with a hint of low lights so it didn't look fake. However, I ended up spending 152 dollars and walked out of there with my roots still as dark as they were when I went in and the blonde is a orange/pink color. Finally found my salon!!! (Redken and Pureology). I am a huge fan of Toni--- she is an outstanding stylist. She's not afraid to listen to you, and actually do what you want! And she is equally skilled at color and styling, not an easy combo to find!!! They have plenty of staff to attend to you with warm hospitality and comfort. Lots of options (brow during your shampoo, oh-so-nice scalp massage and Brazilian blow out.) They have a wonderful selection of hair products, and they will definitely educate you I mean, market them to you, but not in an obnoxious way. read more

I was so nervous! My hair had been a light brown, sandy blonde color for almost a year, but I really wanted a change. I just moved here and found the salon through reviews on Yelp. Ashley took care of me when I arrived and agreed that a natural red was the way to go. She also suggested some brighter orange strands toward the bottom, which I was slightly horrified by in theory but agreed to because she's just so dang sweet. I sat in the chair, drank my rosé, and let her do her thing. And at the end, I was completely ecstatic and everyone in the salon was equally blown away. It's multidimensional, appropriate for work but still slightly Sansa Stark. I love it and I'll definitely be back. Side note for other people wanting to go red: for upkeep I use Davines shampoo and conditioner twice a week to keep the red from fading out. The salon sells Redkin though and I've heard it works decently too. read more

I got my Brazilian blowout done from Sam. She is amazing and I recommend anyone to go to her. It was my first time at The Fixx Hair Studio so I am not sure how other stylists are. Sam takes time to explain products she is going to be using, steps of procedure and the outcomes. She knows what she is doing! I liked my blowouts but I was expecting more out of it. My hair turned out to be quite flat and they are no more bouncy :( read more

Very Disappointed...sorry for the lengthy review in advance. I got full blonde highlights done January 11th and left happy. I had been working slowly to blonde for a while now. Upon doing my hair the next day (it's always different when someone else does your hair at the salon), I noticed just how damaged my hair was. Not only were all my ends split, but I literally loss 2-3 inches of hair. POOF gone. I have been growing out my hair for 6+ years and have very thin hair, so losing length when I didn't even get it cut was a huge frustration. To top it off, I brushed my hair out and clumps of hair were coming out and continued to for the next week. I attribute this to being over processed. This salon has 3 sinks and if you don't catch one when it's open, then you have to wait. And I did wait under the dryer for nearly 15 minutes after my hairdresser said I needed to rinse. I would've made a fuss if I understood then and there the damage my hair was enduring. The next week I went and got an emergency keratin treatment at another salon just to salvage the hair that I had left and help stop the breakage. It did help but I was told that any tugging or color put on my hair for the next several months needed to be avoided at ALL COSTS. I had been to this hair salon before and I trusted them, I just don't go there anymore since I moved. Long story, not so short, I have been out of town for nearly 3 weeks for work and I finally got home this week and made the call to the Fixx to talk to a manager about my experience. I received a call back this morning and was basically questioned from the get-go as to why I didn't call them as soon as I noticed my hair falling out and all the damage. I was very up front, my main concern wasn't "to let you know what you did wrong, but to figure out how to salvage the hair I had left." Seeing that I knew I would be out of town for the next 3 weeks and I knew I would never go back to The Fixx, I didn't make it a priority to call them and maybe I should have. I was basically told they can't help me. She told me I could email pictures of my hair before and after, along with a receipt from the salon that gave me an emergency treatment to show I didn't get it cut or alter anything about my hair, but even with that she definitively answered that they can't help, so I didn't even bother sending the pics/receipt. Almost like she didn't believe me that my hair could've possibly been damaged at her salon? So frustrating. I'm very forgiving and easy going, I even forgive the girl that did my hair because I know she didn't intentionally damage my hair, but how the manager spoke to me and questioned me and my intentions, that is what rubbed me the wrong way. It rubbed me the wrong way so much that I feel the need to write this review and I've never written a poor/negative review ever before. read more
