His prices were also better than the other plumbers who responded to my quote request. It turned out that the kitchen tap I purchased would not fit (I had a feeling it was not going to work). He removed the old kitchen tap, which was what I was having trouble with, and gave me some tips on how to install the new tap once I found one that fit. He then installed the bathroom tap and provided some other advice relating to the bathroom sink. He did not charge me for the kitchen tap installation. I found a kitchen tap that fit, and it is now installed and working great thanks to John. I will call him if I need any plumbing in the future. Later that night I tried to take a shower and, well there I was ankle-high in smelly shit water. Frustrated, I called up Watersmart Systems Limited (I saw them on a commercial, I saw they were direct competitors to the Rooter brothers). They turned up 20 minutes I placed the phone call, I was absolutely floored. They actually brought in proper technology. A camera, and tools and everything. Martin and Lewis from the Rooter Brothers walked into the bathroom with nothing but wrenches and now thinking back, I was wrong to trust them fixing a clogged drain with just that. The plumber, Wallace, was a funny and down-to-earth guy. They took a real good look at my pipes, and showed me how to do it every step of the way. Both he and his partner Warwick at the same time inserted their drain-snake in my tight pipes, I had never thought they could fit both in there at once. The process took about 15 minutes and they laboured very hard, and they were comfortable enough that they pounded the blockage enough that they released their cleaners far into my pipes. It was such a wonderful experience. If I ever have any other issues with my pipes, I'll give them another call. I would suggest anyone else reading this to do it too! The shower after was so wonderful. My pipes were so lubricated! And I've never seen the drain so gaping before. I'm doubtful it'll get clogged again anytime soon.

I recently had multiple negative interactions with Mr. Rooter. To their credit they were one of…read morethe few plumbing companies to answer the phone over a long weekend regarding a broken water softener. However on arrival several hours late, and despite stating the problem (water softener leaking beads which is not fixable) they did not replace and insisted on a second visit. A second visit was over 8 hours later than stated (called dispatcher multiple times), and they did replace - a very pricy model without offering options. Less than one week later my basement had water flooding with water pooling under the brine tank. Again I called, again they arrived several hours late (after multiple calls). After telling them that all water had left my brine tank (thus the problem) they said they couldn't identify the problem. Another week later I again had another water leak on my basement floor with water under the brine tank. This time when I called the person answering the phone was rude, consistently cutting me off, refusing to accept the problem, only offering someone again to come out and look. Frankly I cannot remember the last person in retail that was this rude and belligerent. Regardless they refused to provide someone in management to talk to. All they would do is someone to "come and look" and frankly stated any repairs are another visit. If this situation is not addressed adequately this likely is headed for a chargeback from the credit card company and a better business bureau consumer complaint. Overall completely absent customer service, especially from their dispatchers, and little regard for effects of defective products, and no ownership of their mistakes.

My wife and I have been using Frey's for several years. We first hired them because of a leak with our hot water tank. Since then they've installed our water softener and we used them to renovate our ensuite and guest bathrooms, both of which turned out beautifully. Our guests love our bathrooms! From a service side, and I'm big on personal service, they always make us feel comfortable, answer all our questions, and are prompt and professional. Prices are very reasonable too. Never had a negative experience them, but if you're looking to get a quote on a bathroom renovation you'll probably have to wait a week or two - they're well worth it. To be fair, I think that timeframe is pretty much what you'd expect from any contractor these days.
