I arrived, paid $250.00 for two races, was given a fabric racing ski mask, and then went to the restroom before the races started. I came out, and was immediately placed into a car without any instructions whatsoever. No one ever told me that you have to take your foot off of the gas to slow down, so I kept using my brakes to slow and kept on coming to a full dead on stop on the track and was having visibility obvious challenges to get my car to cooperate; because my car was malfunctioning, skinning the sides, and slamming to a dead stop creating a pile up behind me. Anyone with half a brain could see that I didn't know how to slow down properly; I honestly thought that the employee was remotely stopping my car. After less than 1 minute, an assistant manager named Jake stopped our race, had us get out of the race cars, and pulled us aside for additional instruction, and it was learned that the other guy who gave us instructions never properly informed us on how to slow instead of full on crash to a stop. Jake refused to give us another chance to race after the formal instructions, and we were charged $150.00 for 60 seconds or less of race time. Had we had proper instructions, this would have never happened. I had to argue with him to get our second race refunded, and instead of making our technical difficulties a teachable moment to properly train his staff on how to teach us how to operate the cars efficiently, he extorted us out of money, and was incredibly rude to my group. One of the members of my group had special needs, and visually could have used more help and instructions and instead of being treated without kindness or human compassion; she got kicked out and extorted out of her money; when if she had been given a little patience and grace, she probably would have been just fine and would have experienced the best day if her life, instead she got rejected and treated like scum of the earth. Everything that she experienced went completely against the ADA and they had no safety measures or modifications for her to race set into place. It's pretty appalling that K1 Racing would segregate special needs people and discriminate against the people like they did in our group. The entire staff was ran by young kids, who were incredibly rude, this was our first and our last trip ever. All we asked for was for proper education on how to operate the cars effectively, and for that first loop to be considered a practice round, but Jake mocked us, said that that glass the worst loop he'd ever seen in history, and refused to give us a refund for the lap that we took without proper staff led training. He'd rather lose customers and insist on being right and us being wrong, then help to teach his staff how to train new racers, then to help us, and give us a chance to race and operate the cars appropriately. It's honestly sad. Jake was basically a bully, and I hope that other people see this post and don't even waste their time. It's a serious waste of money, and they allow staff to ostracize and make fun of special needs people.... seriously, not cool! I'll be making a formal complaint about this experience, in hopes that nothing unlike this ever happens to anyone else. read more
