Greens are somewhat fast but consistent. There are plenty of places to employ your green-reading skills and it pays to pitch your ball to the correct location. Fairways are similarly is great condition. I saw few places where you'd have a bad lie with a good fairway shot. The second cut of rough is really rough here - it's basically a lava field. Do not miss the fairway. The first cut, however, is very playable. In fact, I think I'd prefer the first cut over the fairway proper for short pitches and chips. I understand this is a winter phenomenon (playable rough) and when spring sets in and the grass grows out, you won't want to be in the first cut, either. Update: no, the course condition in the summer (last round was over 100 degrees) is still great and the first cut is a fine place to land your ball. Bunkers in good shape with good sand. If you know how to execute a bunker shot, you'll have little problem here. As with any bunker, if it has rained or snow has melted, the sand plays different. There are some fairway bunkers. Water is not a big factor at Juniper. There are a couple of holes on the back nine where it comes into play but even then, easy to avoid. No water carries here. Good driving range, practice green and practice short game area. Carts are electric, are in good condition and feature retractable side curtains during winter.

An additional hidden "drought surcharge" that is not shown on any disclaimer or your emailed invoice. You can only discover this fee on ONE page and you have to manually expand the taxes and fees after noticing that there should be no tax and that the fee amount is more than 5%. When we contacted customer service we were met with arrogance and disdain, and no customer service. We asked them to explain what the hidden surcharge was and they then told us to 'NEVER CONTACT THEM AGAIN'. ??? We have ridden here before and experienced the same general disdain in person. You get the feeling they don't want customers and the trail rides are the worst part of their jobs. I have ridden most of my life and done multiple guided rides across the US. Sunriver Trail Rides was the worst experience by far. Between the ride being shorter than the promised time and the hidden fees it is a money grab with no real passion or care. We recently booked at another ranch, and we will continue to use other ranches in the future even when staying in Sunriver.

They were all wonderful and very helpful. Angelica was especially helpful with a newbie like myself. She was very encouraging, supportive and super friendly. They dont have their availability or booking online so that honestly does not help. Also told us to arrive 45 minutes early just to arrive and be locked out in the cold. The trail was not groomed at all, but they make sure to tell you how they will charge for damage - but then take us on trails going over trees and broken branches? The instructor we had was super rude and condescending then had the audacity to ask for a tip and told us he only makes $18.00 an hour. Overall, majorly overpriced for what they provide.

The lodge lunch was adorable, friendly staff, the chili was delicious. I would highly recommend this adventure. We also hiked Smith rock and Tumalo falls during our stay. An epic trip and this was a highlight!
