We have brought our fur babies here for the past two years. I am more than pleased and they are clean, safe and happy upon pick up. When we pull up, they get super excited and rush to exit our car and see their human and fur friends. My first visit, when I toured, yes it was lots of loud dog barking and I remember feeling a little sad like oh am I taking them to the pound. Okay look the dogs are barking, because of "we the people". I had to think about this. When my own 2 dogs have a new guest here they start "going crazy" frankly lol. And when I walk the neighborhood, dogs that were otherwise chilling, you know what they do as people jog, walk by their turf? Many of them run to the living room window and yap yap. Imagine this multiplied by all doggies together at once getting excited. It can get loud. Ask a parent with multiple small kids or any teacher/daycare provider of little kids.... it's not always prim and proper! But everyone is safe and loved. Same here- enough said! The staff is smart, nice and caring and does their job. The rates afford my little ones to get social interaction. This is not a place that tries to be foo-foo fancy bells and whistles dog castle... extra money... just for some BS to be going once you're gone. They are low frills but DEFINITELY not NO frills as they have huge play area and an indoor pool which I can't wait for my dogs to get lessons in. Do yourself a favor. Become a customer, get in their books with the required documents, get your dog acquainted with a couple visits of daycare so you can feel confident and everything's in order for when the time comes and you need overnight boarding for some travel! So I took Gideon to a groomer today.. as I dropped him off she told me she was not able to shave him because of his coat & that it actually keeps him cool.. so I agreed and figured she knew best, and left him with her. When I came back she said his coat was "ruined" and there was "no saving it" so she "had to shave him" also said I wasn't getting my money back because "he's a rescue and I did him justice but congrats on your chow chow" she also asked me why I "never brushed him after he was groomed the first time" & I literally brush him everyday. I brought my dog here for a tour because it was one of few places I found that offered webcams and I wanted to see my pup while on vacation. I asked about the webcams several times and it was brushed off. I was told "some people can figure out how to use it, some cant." And it "only works sometimes." After leaving I called the webcam service provider (still on their website). It turns out they didn't renew their subscription for the webcam service almost two years ago. I wish I was just told that it's no longer offered. It's a small detail but honesty is key for somewhere I am leaving my dog. I also saw the review about the dog that got out and was hit by a car. While I was touring, several dogs were able to open a fence from one section to another. The staff showed me how each fence has a snap hook ring on them to secure them but that some of them are old and loose and that's why the dogs can take them off. Yes, there are several filters of fences. But that left me totally uneasy after learning that dogs have gotten out before. Dogs are smart. Please add more security to your fences read more

I used PSR for the 1st time and have such mixed feelings about it. I was very nervous, as my dog has never been boarded before and has had limited exposure to doggie day care. He's fairly skiddish around new dogs and even new people, dspite being 75lb! My husband dropped him off and made the arrangements. He said he was visibly nervous when dropping him off. I was glad to know they had a webcam that I could check in and see how he was doing. I literally checked the webcam 40x and never saw him in the yard. I found this strange, but kept thinking i was obviously just missing the times he was outside. Eventually, i ended up sending a PM and got a very caring message and photo back. They said he was doing well and to check the webcam as he was outside right then. I checked it and saw him for less than 1 minute before he was put away :( I tried to check in by PM the following day with no response. I checked in 2 days later and still no response. I checked the webcam no less than 3 dz times a day and never saw him. When dogs were outside, there was little to no human interaction (1x when someone was out there throwing the ball, they were barely engaged and on the phone). My friend picked him up for me and he was bathed and happy. So, he seemed good. She was impressed with the facility, but honestly, the experience affected my vacation, so in the future, i think i will try somewhere else and see if the boarding is handled differently, or if this is normal and what I should expect. read more

I boarded my dog (& cat) at Pet Suite Retreat trusting them to care for her, as I would.I vetted the place, got a tour two weeks beforehand and felt good about being able to reserve a special room for my dog and cat to stay together. On my second day of vacation, I got a horrifying call that my dog "got out" of their fences, wandered onto Michigan Avenue and got hit by a car. My baby dog died. The employee that took the dogs on their last potty break was "cleaning up dog poop" in another part of the yard. This had to have happened almost 10 p.m., so it was dark. My dog (as well as others) was NOT being watched. Dog poop should have been picked up later. My Missy was a chunky little thing...so, she would have had to work at squeezing through a gap in their fences AND sliding UNDER another one. By the way, any place whose purpose is dog care, should have adequate fencing. Their attitude was "she just got out"...as if it's Missy's fault. My dog does not just go rogue. She's obedient and stays near people. But perhaps she thought she'd try to find us or find her way home. Who knows what she may have thought. Nonetheless, she SHOULD HAVE BEEN WATCHED!!!! My stomach and heart collapsed when I got that call. I was hearing words, but they seemed distant. I was sick to my stomach for two days. We dropped everything and got brand new plane tickets home a day early to get to our baby. We protected Missy and took great care of her all her life. The moment we trust a company, who is in the business of pet care, to protect her while we're away...she gets killed. She was 9 years old and HEALTHY. The manager handed my baby to me frozen in a box. My mom asked if we could sit down and talk about this and the manager stood in the lobby and said "What questions did you have?" She showed no empathy and spoke to us like we were customers complaining about a broken lamp. Not like pet owners whose family member DIED under their watch. We dropped our sweet little girl off promising we'd see her when we got back. I thought the most I'd have to do is wash the boarding stink off of her. Never did I imagine picking up my baby's dead body. Never did I imagine shopping for an urn for her remains. This has been a real live nightmare and I wouldn't wish it on ANYBODY in this world. read more

It's really sad that a pet care facility can not answer questions in person or by phone, resorting to "yelp" is telling what sort of person/business owner you are. I will never use your services again nor will you be recommended. In actuality you deserve zero out of five stars seeing as zero is not an option one will suffice. FYI* You spent a paragraph on loose stools when the feces found was dried and mashed into the blanket upon pick up which i would have left for you to use had i known you wanted to do laundry, sorry it was was thrown into the garbage. I will not thank you for poor, unacceptable and unsanitary service. It took my dog a few days to recover from the ill-treatment but he is back to normal! "This too, shall pass!" Boarded my cats there and they were traumatized by barking dogs at the door of the room they were in and when O brought them home, they smelled like dog. They tell you they clean the room after each tenner, but they don't. When I told the women at the front desk that my cats smelled like dogs, she said the employee told her she cleaned the room and that she doesn't lie. So, I guess that means I was lying. Never went back after that and never will. read more

Hi my name is Harper. My family went sunning in the Dominican. Jokes on them I had a blast at camp Pet Suites Retreat. I made lots of friends, played outside and inside and I even lost a couple of much-needed pounds this is from all the fun exercise I got. The staff was very very nice. My room (kennel) was kept very clean & I loved that the staff played with me too. My mom checked in on me & the owner quickly got back to her. I'm still a puppy! It's nice when I go there & they remember me & my mom said she was pleased to see the same staff there!!! read more

At first I was so grateful for a place to take my dog to go play for the day, we went weekly. I asked every time I picked him up how he did and I was told he did great until one day something was said and come to find out my dog that has never been aggressive is being kept in a plexiglass kennel for everyone's safety and he is only allowed to play with 1 other dog... not exactly what I had in mind. I asked what I needed to do and I was told training. There is a flyer on the counter for Steve who rents space in their facility who one of the workers there told me trained her aggressive dog. Steve offered a 2 week bootcamp, I believe the only thing he did was put an e-collar on my dog but according to pet suite retreat they got him to sit so Steve's training must have worked yet he was kept in that same plexiglass kennel and not allowed to play with any other dogs. In the words of the owner because the dog growled at my dog. Mind you, training happened at the end of August. After several phone calls and warnings I was going on social media to express my displeasure. She called me today 11/2 to say that I was too emotional because when I called to check on my dog yesterday I was told he was being kept by himself... and because I called and was upset they took a video of him sitting. I paid 1500 for obedience training so that my dog wouldn't pull or chase my cats and now I am working with a new trainer. Where is the video of him being able to walk on leash without pulling? Not chase small animals? How about him walking past a kennel? These were very specific issues that were discussed with Steve that he said he would resolve. He waited until the end of the 2 weeks to walk him through the kennel with the e collie to correct, when I told him about my cats he told me to turn up the setting on the e collar. Since his boot camp did absolutely nothing he offered a 1:1 course to supplement the fact he did not train my dog. He said he took pics and video when training my dog, I have those too and they are not very impressive. Like Karen calling me months after my initial phone call saying that I am emotional. Yes I am emotional that I used a dog trainer YOU GUYS recommended and when I had issues you did not call me back, but I'm glad you got a video of him sitting. My dog is my family so yes I am emotional Karen. I thought Keegan was trust worthy, she is not. If you see Steve he has 0 integrity or morals and should not be trusted with your dog. Yes Karen, I have a great dog that deserves more then he's getting at your facility. As a pet owner I deserve a trainer who is actually going to train my dog and one that will return my calls. I also deserve a daycare that will treat my good dog well, your reply didn't address a lot of my issue but again the way you've dealt with this was pretty messed up and I hope anyone who reads this thinks twice about your facilities and your training advice. read more

Over several years, trusted PSR for boarding and grooming. Facilities and people were exceptional. During much of this time, my three beloved dogs (two Scotties and a Collie) were there very frequently during business travel and vacations. I have been THRILLED with with the TLC shown during boarding and grooming. There's always been upmost concern for health and safety. The best recommendation comes from the doggies themselves, who seemed as thrilled to arrive there as when I arrived home! read more

Somehow the staff managed to completely lose a giant supportive foam-filled dog bed I specifically picked out for my arthritic dog... and I was mortified when I learned he'd been sleeping on a thin fleece blanket with holes in it the entire weekend rather than the bed I had brought. Completely unacceptable, my dogs will not be coming back here. read more

My dog loves it here. Very reasonable rates and he gets his workouts going here. I love it compared to canine to five where they said my boxer needed a gentle leader because he was aggressive. Not!! read more

My pup loves this place when I have to go away. He gets to go outside in a very spacious safe yard with dogs his temperament and energy level. I love that he gets to play 6-7 times a day and get his own space to relax when indoors. When ever he comes home he is a tired happy pup. I'm a fairly new pet owner and was a bit apprehensive about leaving my dog for the day but I had no other option and this place was convinent in regards to the location I had to go to. The first time I sent my dog there it was for the day and when I returned to get him I was happy to hear he behaved well. However when I took him into the car I couldn't help but notice he smelled horribly. There was feces all along his collar and neck. Although it wasn't a pleasant ride home I thought that the mess may of happened pretty recently and they didn't notice it to clean it. A few weeks later I took my dog back this time it was overnight for 2 days. Once I picked him up the second time I saw that leaving dogs covered in feces was no mistake. This time it was even worse! I had to rinse him off before even taking him in the hourse for a bath. Apparently this place lets the dogs place in their feces and cleans them for an additonal fee but only upon request. If I knew of this option I would of gladly paid for it but this was not advertised very well. You have my contact information..why not ask when you see my dog is covered in crap! I'm not sure what other boarding places do but I doubt taking a dirty dog home is acceptable. read more

My blind 3 year old pug loves all the ladies at the Pet Suite Retreat. As a first time dog owner they have been so supportive and patient with me. There are lots of activities and plenty of love. By the time my Mikey gets home he is exhausted. They do such a great job! read more

I have taken advantage of Grooming, Boarding, and Daycare at Pet Suite Retreat over the last 2 years, and frankly I am shocked at the bad reviews that have been posted. Everyone has an opinion so I thought I would share mine as well On Grooming - They do an amazing job, always clean and perfectly groomed, I have 2 large dogs and it is nice to find a groomer than can accommodate both of them. Day Care - In 2012 we rescued a 6 month old with severe separation anxiety and other issues, When left alone in the house she would howl and cry from the time I left until I came home. Pet suite saved my sanity. At Daycare she was socialized with other dogs and humans, she was kept busy playing for part of the day and also left in her crate too, this helped her build confidence during those times she was alone. She has come along way from the puppy that she was, and Pet Suite was a part of that transformation. Boarding - When ever we go out of town, I board at Pet Suite. I love that I can download the video cam app to my smart phone, so I can see them playing outside. The are always happy to come home, but they are never scared or anxious when it is time to be dropped of for boarding. All in all everyone has different expectations, Sometimes after boarding my dogs come home smelling like dog, but that is because they play there furry butts off. and I am fine with that. My dogs are my family I would never leave them in a place where I didn't feel they were getting the best care available. But what sets Pet Suite apart for me is that the staff pays attention to my girls and they treat them amazingly well. read more
