We've been hitting up Mediterranean restaurants like nobody's business on this leg of our spring break, in part because of our proximity to many, and in part because my progeny and I are currently obsessed with babaganoush in its many variations. For this particular dinner, we were also focused on finding a truly vegetarian friendly restaurant where we could take our dear friends. Kabobji was a wonderful choice for vegetarians, omnivores, and carnivores alike. It's a large restaurant with plenty of booths and large tables for gathering with friends and family. Someone I suspect to be an owner was working hard alongside his wait staff and displayed a sense of genuine hospitality. Above all, the restaurant has a rock solid kitchen. The falafel ($13.99 / 5 pieces) here were ****STELLAR****!!! They're shaped like Indian medu vada (fried with a hole in the middle), probably for the same reason: to allow as much of the surface to fry to that perfect golden crisp as possible. And Kabobji's falafel were, in fact, awesomely crisp and well textured, made from soaked chickpeas in the traditional style, perfectly sized, nuanced and subtle in flavor -- some of the best we can remember having. (For reference, we love Nish Nush and Tanoreen for falafel in NYC -- and I think our neighborhood must be one of the major international epicenters for falafel.) Also excellent: the baba ghannouj ($10.99 for the small size), just a bit chunky, enriched with a lot of tahini, a moderate amount of garlic, a touch of lemon. This is how we like to make it at home. The vegetable ghallaba platter ($20.99) was simply made with thinly sliced onions and bell peppers, a small amount of zucchini, I think, and a touch of tomato. I would've loved to have had a spritz of lemon or sprinkle of sumac for a more acidic component, perhaps a little less onion. Note that this dish works better as a main course when accompanied by something protein-y like hummus, but it was pleasant to eat alongside our other orders. A convive, who went with the mixed shawarma platter ($27.99), found it to be a generous portion size and enjoyed it, especially with a side of well composed fattoush salad (+$5.99 to upgrade). Beef shish kebab ($14.99) and lamb shawarma ($15.99) wraps were both excellent and moist, a good balance of protein and vegetable. I didn't try them, but the "cheese pies" ($12.99) turned out to be pitas covered with a large amount of melty white cheese that some young children might enjoy as pizza. (Mine probably would've found them to be "too cheesy," but they're mutants.) They came three to an order. When you dine in, they bring a big basket of warm pita / pida to the table -- quite a generous touch!! I think it's house made and of course went beautifully with our food. Another incredible experience at Kaboji. The service is, as always, attentive and truly above and beyond, and the food never disappoints. Because we had a large group, we ordered two veggie mezzas for the table. They come with grape leaves, baba ghannouj, and hummus, which makes them perfect for sharing. And the unlimited pita bread is always a win. The salad, so refreshing. The Lebanese cheese rolls are also amazing. Some of us switched it up and tried the spicy fish, sautéed shrimp, and the mixed shawarma platter. No regrets. The fish was so flavorful and the perfect size. Honestly in person was underwhelming Pros: - prices are really good we ordered like 7-8 dishes for $118. They have a lunch menu with discounted price - one of the few restaurants that will pack the food to go for u and wont make you do it yourself and they will add more bread for u. The bread is truly out of this world - friendly staff and fast service, easy free parking - great if u want to experience a mezza (very traditional in lebanese restaurant where they serve many dishes for u to try, without breaking the bank) Recommended dishes: meat rolls, meat grape leaves, shankleesh Cons: If ur a true lebanese you will know nothing compares to the food your mom makes - kobob platter was dissapointing, full of rice and only one skewer - taboule was not fresh - tawouk sandwich barely had some chicken in it. We come here often. Their lemonade with mint is absolutely delicious. They say it's made in house. I love the garlic sauce that comes with every dish and the pita is absolutely to die for. I sometimes stop in and buy pita for home. The kids cheeseburger is a very generous portion and delicious. Their meat is tasty and the rice is also very signature of this place. I recently visited this restaurant. They are inspired by the middle eastern cuisine. I noticed the menu is very extensive and the pita bread is freshly made. I really liked the hummus and the Pita. It was very tasty. As for the main dish I ordered a chicken shawarma. The chicken was very rich in flavor, the veggies were also fresh. I ordered a mint lemonade and my drink was the highlight of the brunch, so refreshing, the perfect balance. Service was phenomenal, all the dishes arrived fast. Stopped by Kabobji on a Monday night--plenty of open tables, no wait. Service was quick and on point, which is always a plus. Started with the falafel, and they were solid. Not dry inside, held their shape well, and weren't overly fried, a solid 4/5. For the main dish, I went with the Kabobji Combo, which comes with three grilled skewers--Tawook, beef kabob, and kafta--served with rice. Everything was cooked just right--juicy, flavorful, and not overdone. The kafta, in particular, stood out. I'd give the dish a solid 4.5/5. If you're into Middle Eastern food, this place is definitely worth checking out. Good portions, great flavors, and no frills. I associate Kabobjo with happiness. This is one of my favorite restaurants probably in the entire world. The people who work here are always so kind and welcoming, accommodating to whatever silly request I might have that day. The inside feels like you are more private dining room than inside a restaurant with the big walled booths giving you extra privacy and a chance to get close to those you love. The food. Simply put is spectacular. Never have I ever come out of a meal at Kabobji feeling disappointed. And their generous free pita bread with zaa'tar is always warm and puts a smile on my face. Kabobji is a special place, these kinds of restaurants that aim to not just serve but delight, are hard to come by. This is always one of my top recommendations. This is one of my favorite Middle Eastern restaurants in south FL and that says a lot because I'm Arab so I know what our food should taste like. Pretty much anything and everything you order here you'll like. They start off with bringing you their homemade pita with olive oil on the side. Why do you do this to me if you know my weakness is hot pita!? Anyway I eat a whole basket and then wonder why I'm full but no worries I always make room for my food. I love their shawarma wrap that comes with my fries. Their shish tawook is also good. Their salads are delicious. Hummus and kibbeh is also good. This restaurant holds a special place in my heart because I would frequently visit it with my dad. We would either dine in or order to go so we could take it with us to Haulover Beach and eat by the beach park section. My dad also loved this places so I'll always think of him when I go. Plenty of parking since it's shared with other restaurants. Once you get off 826 by beaches just drive east towards the beach and it's in a hidden plaza to your left hand side right before Oleta Park. The ambiance is relaxed and accommodating that sets a get atmosphere for eating and enjoying. We were served by Manuel and Zaid and they were marvelous. They really made our experience great. It also has a bread oven so you know you are getting freshly baked pita bread. We ordered the veggie mezza, grapes leaves, Malfouf, and fried kibbeh. First, the fresh pita comes with a lovely Za'atar and olive oil dip. Delicious! It's a fresh warm pita! And dip it's to die for! So freaking good! The veggie mezza comes with Tabouleh salad, hummus, grape leaves, and falafel, and instead of baba ganoush with ordered more hummus. Everything on the dish was outstanding! The hummus is so creamy and tasty! The falafel was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The grape leaves were warm and soft! You could tell they were fresh! The restaurant is in a well lit and popular shopping mall and offers casual dining with outdoor seating if available when you arrive We arrived at 6pm and were seated promptly and began to dine at our leisure. We started with the veggie mezza which comes with grape leaves , hummus, baba ghannouj, falafel, tabbouleh and fresh hot pita. The 3 of us marveled in the grape leaves/baba ghannouj/tabbouleh being some of the best we"ve had . 5 STAR Our daughter had the sautéed shrimp , 8 large shrimp with a creamy mushroom sauce and almond slivered white rice. Shrimp dish was served nice and hot , shrimp themselves were cooked perfectly 4 STAR We also ordered a side of Batata Harra (spicy potatoes) I liked these small cubed potatoes which were tossed with plenty of cayenne pepper but agree they definitely aren't your traditional Greek style potatoes which I think is what we expected - 4 STAR Last two items were two small salads , a Greek salad with grilled chicken and a small Fattoush salad with chicken Sharma. The salads were just average overall, veg selection was not too unusual and limited lettuce. As a lover of spicy food, Kabobji in North Miami is definitely the place to go! Even without the extra hot sauce I requested, the lemon oregano chicken was fire! The generously portioned chicken, on a bed of basmati rice with almonds was well seasoned and perfect. I'll try a different dessert when I go again - with reservations and maybe not close to closing time. The baklava was a little more nutty and not as sweet as I have had at other Middle Eastern restaurants (one of them seems to serve theirs with a touch of honey). My side dishes included a hearty yellow lentil soup, warm fluffy pita bread as well as side of hummus with fresh garbanzo taste and a hint of tarragon. Wanted to grab a quick bite to eat so stopped over at kabobji, located on a busy street with multiple options in the plaza. There was plenty of parking. Seating available in and outside. Inside they have an open oven where someone will be making fresh bread. The inside is fairly large with booths and table/chair. Only two washrooms. The menu was had a variety of different options. For starters, they bring over fresh bread with olive oil zaatar. The bread was warm and fresh and olive oil was rich. It was a great way to start the meal. We tried the chicken sandwich, beef platter, ground beef & cheese rolls. The sandwich wasn't dry which is plus. The beef was tender and rolls came out piping hot.. I haven't had too much luck eating at middle eastern restaurants, but this place was amazing! My wife and I were in the area and she suggested KABOBJI, so I said ok let's try it, and I'm happy we did. To start we had an order of hummus and an order of Kibbeh which were outstanding, add the pita bread and WOW! We shared a Lamb Kabob platter which was also great to complete our lunch. We had the pita/humus, lemon chicken oregano platter and the Chicken Tawouk Platter. The humus was one of the best humus's I've ever had and both chicken dishes were SO GOOD! The lemon sauce on the oregano chicken really stood out for its zesty, garlicky flavor. The homemade pita was hands down, the BEST EVER! Sit down and they bring you freshly made pita breads. You need to eat them right away while they are hot. (Delicious when hot. Not so good as they cool. I wish they would bring humos or banda ganoush with it.) Stick with the great kabobs and the fatoosh salad was incredible. We just stumbled upon this gem on our way to Fort Lauderdale from Bal harbor. There is good amount of seating inside the restaurant. The ambiance of this place is normal, nothing fancy. The menu had a lot of options in it. Super vegetarian friendly as well. We ordered chicken tawouk and lamb kafta kabob. The portion size is huge. Both our dishes were great. I just wish the chicken pieces were a bit smaller. The garlic sauce they have is delicious. Overall, I would highly recommend this place and will be back again. As someone with celiac, it's always difficult to find good, safe places to eat. I called in to ask if they had any gluten-free options (it's really important to be super specific), made without wheat, and they were super knowledgeable! Both the lamb and beef kabob are gluten free, so is the brown rice, and the greek salad! Pretty solid middle eastern food and the appreciated the effort in making my food celiac safe. I went to this restaurant with my wife who is 100% Lebanese. We ordered the beef kabob plate and kabobji combo, vegetarian mezza, sfiha, and cheese rolls. For starters, we were very impressed with the fresh bread. You can tell it had just been taken out of the oven. The restaurant has their own oven for bread and you can see them baking it while you eat. To start off, the mezza came with vegetarian grape leaves, baba ghanouj, hummus, falafel and tabouli. My wife loves tabouli and so we asked to substitute the falafel for extra tabouli. The mezza came out and presentation was excellent. Grape leaves were juicy and delicious. The hummus and baba ghanouj were flavorful and had just the right amount of garlic and tahini. Very good. However, what made me downgrade my review from 5 to 4 stars is the tabouli and sfiha. The tabouli did not appear or taste fresh at all. It looked as if it had been sitting in the refrigerator all day. The meat on the sfiha did not appear to be cooked as well as we would have liked. We would have liked it to be more crunchy. But everything else was so delicious. The beef kabob plate was cooked to perfection. My wife ordered it with fries and we got extra garlic sauce for dipping. The plate came with two large beef skewers and portion was very generous. The kabobji combo was also delicious and portion was huge; coming with kafta, beef kabob, and chicken tawouk. The kabobji combo is enough for sharing between two people. Overall, I would come back to this restaurant again but would not get the tabouli or sfiha. The cheese rolls were alright, but would have been better if stuffed with mozzarella cheese instead of feta like traditional Lebanese rakakat.
