I cannot compare this restaurant with other local restaurants because it is the only one that I had…read moredinner in. This restaurant has the looks of an expensive restaurant, but is run 'pub style'. This means there is no table service and drinks and food need to be ordered at the bar. Drinks are carried to the table by the customer and food is served. I had the Norwegian cod and it was incredibly good! Also: Free Internet, clean toilets, friendly staff, comfortable chairs, large tables (with a real candle).

Egon is not the best food I have eaten but for American fare in Norway it isn't the worse…read more They have changed the menu since the last time i was there. The last time my fiance and I went to egon we were given flimsy one sheet menus with everything in Norwegian. Which is fine because I like to practice my Norwegian. This last month when we went back the Menu had been updated to include many different types of entrees. Lunch menu and Dinner menu were different and they updated their burgers. I have a feeling Egon is trying to present itself as an upscale classy restaurant but having an all you can eat pizza and salad lunch buffet wont help you get there. The menu seems to have gone from cheap to chic and it looks like the ingredients used have also been upgraded. The food isn't terrible but it isn't something that blew my mind. It is good enough but not the first place I think of when I think of a great restaurant. If you need a place to have a cheap lunch then I would check Egon out. Very kid friendly and many different types of alcohol to choose from.

A gem. Exceptional quality and even better service. I quietly spent a birthday here and without…read moreeven knowing the staff steered me towards one of the best dining experiences of the last few years. I sat at the bar and the meal and beverage selections made by the staff were incredible.

This is the more casual sister restaurant for Renaa (Michelin Star). We came in for a weekday…read morelunch. They have a nice patio area, but it's hard to comfortably seat more than 4 people out there. The interior has a nice view into the kitchen and lots of natural light. For wine, they had a blaufrankish on the menu, which was a nice surprise. The house bread is a country loaf that had a good crust and a nice softer / chewy center. They had a lunch special - a la carte or as a meal (with dessert and a salad). The meal is definitely a better deal - NOK180 a la carte vs NOK250 for the whole meal. We tried the bolinius (salt cod fritters) with pea purée and a cauliflower couscous, both of which were unique/good. Sandwiches are all open faced, served on rye with a slather of aioli. You can get 2 for NOK180 or 3 for NOK240. - Steak: topped with an onion ring; the meat texture was a little tough - Beef tartare: fresh, but a little under salted - Shrimp with egg: the yolk was still nice and runny - Fried cod: nicely fried Food took a little longer than expected (it was fairly empty at lunch), but everything was pretty solid. Service was helpful, friendly, and unpretentious.
