I've been coming here for years and I always enjoyed it but the last two visits showed me that it should be my last. This short lady with really short blonde hair is pretty much rude and I brushed it off to the side. But the second time was pretty much a business thing. I had to deliver some stuff to that place which pretty much I was excited. As I walked in three people (including her) just look at me as if the uniform doesn't show that I have some stuff for them. They seemed like they were in a conversation that seemed important I guess and as I wait the short blonde hair lady told me "what do I want." Not nice in anyway. So I told her what i have for then and they just looked at me as if I interrupted their conversation I asked her and the other member with a beard do they have anything for me. They stood quiet looked at me and said no. Pretty bummed out I really liked that place but my job is pretty busy too I'm not barging in there upset to do my job either. read more

In Ogden for a quick meeting and looked on Yelp for a tip on a place for breakfast. Kaffe Merc came up with the best reviews so I came by to try it out. I ordered the 20 oz. cappuccino and a breakfast sandwich which I had served on a croissant. The sandwich was flavorful with very fresh ingredients on a very tasty croissant. The cappuccino was also good with a lot of frothy steamed milk on top and a tasty coffee underneath. The restaurant itself is very nice with a clean modern decor and I enjoyed the reading materials there as I was solo. I would give an extra half star if possible to 3.5 stars. The only downside I see was that the cost for a coffee and sandwich, served from the counter came in at over $12 with a tip. Why should a tip be given at all when no one serves the food to you? Just because the employees may be underpaid in the first place? But, the suggested tip comes up automatically on the square payment platform used by the shop and one feels like a jerk if you don't give the minimum suggested 20% tip. Maybe if it had a 5% and a 10% option it would have been more reasonable. Sorry to rant but I felt like I was being held hostage while I made my payment. Other than that I did like the food. This is my favorite coffee shop in Ogden. The staff is always friendly and the coffee is wonderful. They serve cafe ibis coffee that's roasted here in Utah. What I love about the merc is they don't overload your coffee with sugar and flavors. Their lattes are perfect every time. It's the only place you can get a drip coffee that hasn't been sitting out all day or tastes burnt. read more

I live down the street and have passed this place many times. Decided to stop in en route to normal spot for hot cocoa (grounds for coffee) as it is much closer. The hot cocoa was really awesome and I really liked the atmosphere. They have a small collection of newspapers and periodicals (I browsed a Times magazine) that all seemed current. The cocoa was served in an actual mug, something I am not used to seeing, with whip cream and cocoa sprinkled on top. Delicious. I have found my new spot for hot cocoa. Sadly I do not drink coffee so I can not say much for that. read more

Adorable little coffee shop on a mostly-residential street. Needed a place to meet for a work meeting & since I'm from outta town I relied on Yelp. Too bad both of our coffees were terrible. My iced coffee had little ice, had coffee grinds floating in it, & was poured to the middle of the dome cap? My colleague's cappuccino was un-drinkable. Maybe it was just our barista this morning? Kaffe Mercantile has my heart. For about 5 years now, I have been a regular visitor. My absolute favorite drink of theirs is the White Irish Nuts. They will make it with hemps milk if you prefer it, too. Also, for the drip brews, Highlander Grogg is by far the best. And during the fall months, the pumpkin spice coffee is to die for!! Sooo nummy nummy. Whether I'm just running in for a morning java on my way to work, or dining in on the back patio with a chicken salad sandwich for lunch, I always feel right at home when I come here. We stayed in the cottage next to the Kaffe Merc recently and the owners kindly comped us breakfast. The coffee, egg sandwiches and turnovers were all delicious. We returned the next day for breakfast again, trying a couple of new things. The place was hopping, with lots of locals popping in before work or school. Others, sat and had coffee leisurely. At least one person conducted an interview in the Kaffe. We will definitely return the next time we visit family in Ogden. read more

I have always loved coffee shops. So when I go to visit anywhere, I always use Yelp to help me find one. I don't think I've ever seen one with such awesome reviews and 5 stars after so many reviews - I had to check out Kaffe Mercantile. I had an iced coffee and a slice of the caprese quiche. I love the atmosphere and the covered patio. The staff was super friendly, service was quick, and the food and coffee both were delightful. I don't know when I'll make it back out to Ogden, but you'd better bet when I do, I'll be making a stop here. read more

Kaffe Mercantile is as good a coffee shop as it gets. Or maybe I should say, Iced Tea-since that is my drink of choice. Their pastries are wonderful, egg croissants sandwiches are a great way to start the day. I have been going to Kaffe Mercantile for four years and their quality and customer service has always been top notch. Their staff members are always kind and really care about getting to know their customers personally. Compared to other coffee shops in the area, Kaffe Mercantile is always kept exceptionally clean. I also like that they are involved with making the Ogden Community a great place to live such as providing coffee for 1,200 people at the Ogden Free Community Meal. What a cute and quaint coffee shop! The coffee is served in an eclectic array of coffee mugs. The coffee and pastries are perfect. I had to try the lavender Italian soda after my walk and it to was perfect. The staff is awesome and friendly. They have a texting service where you can text your order. I really thought I'd like this place based on the reviews but I just didn't. I walked in for a quick coffee and was the only one in line to order. It took 20 minutes for my latte. 1) Because my barista made the wrong drink at first. Yes and apologized. 2) Because my barista seemed to keep getting distracted. It seems to have potential but my drink just didn't taste great and for the wait, well I won't make a special trip here again anytime soon. They also don't have a huge selection for breakfast so opt to grab food elsewhere if you're really looking for something filling and hearty! I don't live in Ogden anymore, but visit twice a year. Every time I am in Ogden I go to the Merc nearly everyday. I love this place!!! It has such a cozy feel and the coffee is local! the baristas are super nice and always strike up a conversation. I love the egg sandwich with avocado, and the turnovers are amazing!!! The coffee is simply delicious! Perfectly balanced, not bitter, and roasted locally. If you order another drink besides plain coffee, it is perfect. The baristas make it with the perfect amount of sweetness. I got to check out the new location in South Ogden last time I was in town and it is just as great as the other location, but if your not into coffee the south Ogden location has coke on tap. I love this place! Reminds me of my home coffee shop. Super cute place in an old restored house, and the coffee is awesome. A bit on the pricier side, but the service is great. Quiche is pretty good too, and they have the most amazing super food bars. Cute little outdoor seating area, and lots of indoor seating which is cozy.
