Eating in Prague can prove to be a challenge when you don't speak the language, but we were hungry and sick of street food so we stopped here to eat. The front portion of the restaurant is a coffee bar / sweet shop and the back area is an Italian-ish restaurant. We were able to communicate enough with the host and were shown to a table. The atmosphere is cool, like a vintage book shop. Since the menu (well, what were able to decipher anyway) seemed to lean heavily on Italian style dishes, we started with a bottle of prosecco. We were brought a small basket of hearty bread (along with an excellent bottle of olive oil) that we quickly devoured. For lunch, I ordered the tomato soup and salmon while hubby got the beef with truffles (barf)! The tomato soup was the star of the meal. It was well seasoned with bold flavors and tasted fresh and bright. It was a thick tomato puree topped with olive oil and pesto. The beef with truffles was presented beautifully but hubby deemed it a little disappointing. He said it tasted fresh but bland. My salmon was very undercooked for my taste but I know medium-rare is the order of the day when it comes to poached salmon. The portion size was ridiculously small too. Nothing was bad but nothing was great either. The food was serviceable and filled our bellies, but the only thing I'd ever want to have here again would be the tomato soup. This is the Czech Republic and smoking is allowed in doors so the entire place was super smoky. It's a European shock to the system for most Americans, so you need to be aware that there WILL be people lighting up right next to you. You simply can't avoid it here. read more

My wife and I stopped in for an afternoon snack after touring through the Jewish Quarter. It was raining, somewhat cold, and we were both fading from jet lag, so her latte and my cappuccino was a nice pick-me-up. What was really interesting was the curd cheese dumpling dessert we shared. It was covered in yogurt with dried apricots, and it wasn't sweet, but very rich. The cheese kind of reminded me of the dessert goat cheese they serve in Barcelona. Anyways, it's worth a try, and an interesting czech dessert I'll have to get again while we're here. read more

Snob Food, who came up with the name? Was it intentional? Anyway, we did dinner here because I thought it was a funny name for a restaurant. I was craving some pasta. I ordered some type of eggy yellow spaghetti that was mixed with sea bream. A very simple dish with noodles, olive oil and fish were tossed together with lime. The texture and taste was outstanding. Plate size was a bit smaller than I hoped, but it was absolutely delicious. Pricey for Prague, but not terrible coming from Chicago. Located 3 minutes walking distance from old town square, this little gem of a cafe is the perfect place for czechs, tourists and expats alike to sit for a quick sweet, small. meal or coffee. The interior is aqua blue and modern, chairs and tables are perfectly placed reflecting the lighting and cool atmosphere they have going on. Staff is very friendly and bilingual (always a plus when you can't speak fluent czech!) Service is exceptional-especially for this very touristic area. Here I ordered a cafe latte and a blueberry cheesecake. Wow. The blueberry cheesecake at this place blew me away. It was homemade, a HUGE slice, and just so creamy and delicious. The latte was good but more average. They had so many options for different cakes, pies and other sweets you can't even imagine. I think this place deserves some good reviews, Yelpers! I stopped in for coffee, and I was so pleased with the kindness of the servers. In a city where we encountered many less than friendly hosts, I have to give this place a big thumbs up for service. We didn't order any food but the cappuccino and hot chocolate were excellent. Prices were right, too, around 60 cz for a hot drink. Menu looked appetizing. And they do have a bathroom (in the basement). read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this cute little restaurant down the street from my hotel. They served classy food, with a beautiful presentation. The staff were wonderful and extremely attentive. When we were having trouble deciding, our waiter answered our questions, spoke great English and even helped me with a stupid tourist question. We went for lunch, and while the food was delicious, it was a little small so we got a bread basket about a euro extra. It was delicious and a perfect addition to our meal. Upon approach the restaurant looks like a cute little cafe in the shopping area of Prague. The door reads snob food so you amsume that it might be a little higher end. Unfortunately for this restaurant this is not the case, be prepared to eat a cloud of cigarette smoke with every bite as this restaurant has multiple smoking tables inside. Sure the unorganized staff is sweet but that does not make up for having to wait an hour for your tomato soup.?! Nope. The menu is limited and simple, I am not sure where the snob part comes in??? A slightly off-beat little cafe, steps away from the Jewish Quarter, with inside and outside seating, and most of all, an excellent menu of drinks and foods. Their coffees and teas are strong, hot and presented with a smile, they have non-dairy milks; their food is modern and fresh, beautifully presented. We were too busy enjoying our club sandwich, Buddha Bowl with chicken and avocado toast (with a perfectly poached egg on top!) to take pics and the like. All our servers spoke English and/or German, there were no communication issues. We would recommend this place for a light meal and a good coffee anytime when in Prague. read more

We stopped for a light lunch on our Way to the old jewish cemitary. The place looked cool, and had outside seating. We ordered from a very tiny menu a dish of pasta and chicken salad. The pasta was without any taste what so ever, and the chicken salad consisted of a piece of chicken boiled in plain water, with a few slices of carrot and some water crest. Seems to me that this place has an easy life, with a location in a place filled with tourists? Not recomendable! read more

A small cafe not far from Old Town square with interesting old-fashioned design and not too many food options, but with a great coffee, large delicious cakes and very good service. Because of its location on the way to several tourists attractions, there are a lot of tourists stopping by, and maybe this is one of the reasons that the prices are a bit above average, but bearable. My daughter and I stopped in for a lovely lunch this afternoon. The service was excellent and our meal delicious. Everything seemed made fresh with the best ingredients. Watered down gin and tonic. No toillet paper in the restroom. So what I mean to say is this place is utter crap.

Horrible milkshakes, basically milk with a splash of chemical tasting strawberry substance, zero ice-cream. The risottos was so so. I'm still in shock from how awful this place was but I'll try to write a review. This area is full of tourists but we were so hungry that we stopped and sat outside here. Their umbrellas have bee nests and bees swarming around your food. It was uncomfortable to sit there and hope not to get stung! When we sat down we noticed there was only a drink menu, so we asked for one with food and the waiter (rudest man in Prague) pointed to the drink menu and walked away... We got a menu finally and it consisted of ~7 pasta dishes only. Seriously??? After eating with the bees we asked for our check. The waiter mentioned twice that our total did not include a service charge. I said "okay". After I paid him I thought he would walk away so that my boyfriend and I could discuss the tip, but the waiter stood there and said: "I'm waiting for my service charge because it's not included in the bill!". Are you kidding? I said "okay" again and he said "it's NORMAL in the Czech Republic" and stormed off. He got his tip only because in the U.S., we tip regularly. What a jerk. Don't come here and beware: if a charge is NOT included in the menu or stated anywhere then you DONT have to pay it!!!!! read more
