We came as a family of 4 and definitely there is something to do and see for kids of all ages. Loved seeing the original documents of the declaration. Loved the cyclorama of the battle of Atlanta. What a massive drawing and the effort that has gone into the original creation and the pain to restore it. The painting is itself spectacular and top of that they have added a visual aids element to it and makes the whole art more digestible and easy to understand. There are other portions of the exhibit we come to visit and know lots of history about Atlanta. One day is not enough to cover all the exhibits.

My clients and I parked in the courthouse parking deck, which was about $6, I believe, and we took a short walk over. The bathrooms were clean, and we were basically the only ones in the museum besides workers on a weekday. We checked out the Flat Rock exhibit first. This is what drew me to the museum in the first place as I have been wanting to check out the actual Flat Rock Archives for a long time but just haven't had the chance to. This exhibit and all the exhibits on-site here were free. This was a fairly small exhibit, but like the others here, there was quite a bit of info to digest, so I recommend taking your time to read through everything or whatever catches your eye. After the Flat Rock exhibit, we checked out the Decorative Arts exhibit, showcasing some interesting old pieces in the museum's permanent collection. Then, we made our way to the Dekalb County history exhibit, showcasing the past 200 years of Dekalb County. This was probably my favorite exhibit on display, just because there was so much info on different places and people that as a transplant I hear a lot about but don't really know all the ins and outs about. It was all very interesting and informative. Lots of civil rights history and even info on places like Buford Highway and its history - a stretch I travel daily but didn't know much about. We ended the self-guided tour with a walk through the Avondale Estates exhibit, displaying the area's controversial history. I had heard some of the history of that area on the news a while back, but had no clue that it was similar to Forsyth County (and a lot of areas historically I'm sure) in that they basically did everything they could to keep non-whites out as long as they could. There was more history on the people of that area and how things have improved. Once again, there is a lot to digest, but definitely worth a walk through and some time spent. I would highly recommend this museum and all the current exhibits if you're a history buff or just want to learn more about the community, whether a transplant like me or visitor. I would definitely return to see other exhibits in the future, and apparently, this is a very popular wedding venue also, so there's that! Check it out if you haven't yet.

I'm finally getting around to writing a review for CW Gardens after being married for nearly 4…read moreyears. Oops. This was the best venue ever. After scouring over every Atlanta venue list known to man, my now husband and I narrowed it down to two places. We visited here second & fell in love immediately. The grounds are gorgeous, tucked away in the heart of Atlanta. It's so quiet for where it's at and was so convenient for all our family and friends. We got married in the fall and the leaves were so pretty. This is a perfect outdoor venue because you have everything right there. It's plenty spacious and no one has to drive anywhere after the ceremony. We had a cocktail hour on the side lawn which was perfect while the staff moved all the chairs from the ceremony site to the tables in the courtyard. And if you ever dreamed of getting married in an Italian garden-- this feels just like it. My absolute favorite thing about this venue is that we were able to bring in our own alcohol and pick a lot of our vendors. It's saved us A TON of money. And the very best thing about this place, part of your money goes towards the non profit school, which is an amazing cause. I really couldn't have asked for anywhere better to get married.

Shout to Bean at the front desk who immediately made me feel welcomed, informed and by the end an old friend. I don't want to spoil too much of the museum other than to say if you like roadside attractions, circus sideshow, taxidermy, pop and folk art, oddities and good old fashioned curiosities then you have found your Mecca. Take your time and look up high and way down low because the museum is packed with items! Take a second or third lap around the museum and you will continue to discover amazing things you missed the first couple of times. Inside the museum they have even more staff who are friendly and filled with knowledge of you have any questions about anything in the collection from the history of some of the artifacts down to how the museum acquired the pieces: if I lived locally it would be a blast to volunteer here as it's truly a one of a kind place. And to top it all off this museum costs only $10 admission!!! What a value in an age where everything is overpriced or you pay $25 for a roadside attraction that only takes 20 minutes to see the whole thing. I could've spent hours here and I have no doubt they wouldn't have minded at all. They even invited us back that evening for an art show and were offering free beer and wine and stamped our hands so we could enjoy the museum in the evening if we chose to attend. It was so nice of them. I would be doing a disservice if I failed to hype up the gift shop. Buy weird stuff said the sign outside and I certainly did!! Rainy Day Revival has been around I think since 2018 with a shop previously in L5P and about two years ago combined the store, their prop rental side of the business and added this incredible museum all under one roof. They sell so many interesting items but what I like the most is many items are sourced from local artists so you bring home cool items and support local artists at the same time and that's a huge win in my book. I'll be stopping by any time I'm visiting Atlanta and you should as well!!

It's wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling impressive oddities. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. They also have a gift shop and host events throughout the month.
