I should have known that any Asian restaurant attempting to serve Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean dishes would not be able to turn out anything resembling those countries' actual food. I understood that I would stand in line to order and have someone drop off my food at the table with my number on it. The minimal service was what I expected. So, of course, no one came by to ask if the food was good or what I ordered or anything. No biggie. I ordered pho, which comes with no protein, in a bowl smaller than any Vietnamese restaurant would serve - see photo with fork for scale. For an additional $6 I added what is advertised as Angus steak. While it may be Angus beef, it was not cooked in the broth like Vietnamese pho. It was stir fried chunks instead of thin slices, simmered until tender. I don't know what cut it was, but was tough, very chewy, and had a lot of gristle. It suspect it was shoulder. The noodles, aside from being thicker than usual, had almost no taste of their own, also apparently not having been cooked in the broth, just thrown in at the last minute. About 90% of the bowl was the noodles, way too many for the small amount of broth, one of the only ingredients which tasted good. I ended up leaving most of the noodles since there was not enough broth to balance them out. Despite being advertised as being served with cilantro, fried shallots, etc, there was almost nothing else in the bowl except noodles, steak and broth. Also, see the photo of tiny shriveled up basil leaves, which, when chewed were quite bitter. Also served on the side were some bean sprouts and a small plastic dish of srii racha, no jalapeño slices, or anything else. As I should have guessed, there were none of the usual condiments on the table either - no soy sauce, no hoisin, nothing.
