Once again Kaiser proves themselves to me and my family just how incompetent they are. My 22 yo daughter went for a drive- up COVID test this morning. When the obviously inexperienced tech probed her nostril with the wrong end of the swab (the cardboard end) she began squirting blood from her nose, and had to rush to ER. Where she sat in a room with the same bloody tissue for thirty minutes. doctor came in and asked if any one had been in to give her fresh tissue or check on her, and was very upset to find out nobody had bothered. She was hemorrhaging from what should be a simple nose swab. And no, she does not have a bleeding disorder. She has been COVID tested elsewhere in the past and did not have any issues at all. read more

I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN NOT EVEN IF IM DYING! Not only did the Er doctors tell me everything I have been going to the doctors for getting treatments and surgery was a "lie" he sent me home with a painkiller and said "get my story straight" when I have MEDICAL RECORDS TO PROVE MYSELF, and SCARS. Also the nurses do not know what they are doing not only did she poke with with the iv and let blood spill out of my arm while she found tubes to take blood in, she also put latex bandages on me when I told her right before I was allergic to latex and I had a "Allergy" bracelet on. I also had to hold my own IV bag during an ultrasound and walking the hallways. This hospital should not even be rated one star. read more

Evidently with 19 staples, broken leg, torn ankle tendons and SURGERY the pharmacist decided on their own that I DON'T need pain medicine! They can go "f" themselves! Took over 3 hours to get my prescription from a dr. and I'm so much pain I'm nauseous and dizzy! Actually fell coming out if the bathroom onto my broken ankle at the Hospital yet they don't think I need a prescription for pain killers. The are so against opioids that I can't even get anything. Note, I have NEVER have even taken pain meds like this before. I am a veteran, hard working engineer, very active clean living and eating athlete and beyond disappointed and furious with Kaiser. read more

On May 31st I took my toddler to the ER. They asked to take blood from and as much as the nurses tried they were unable to get a good vein. I told them to stop and maybe try again later. After an hour of waiting I turn to my right and see the syringe with the needle sticking out directly towards me on the sink. If my toddler would of had shoes I would of let her walk around she could of easily of grabbed it and poked herself. I called the doctor to dispose of it and she made an "Oh sh*t" face. Not only was there one mistake. On the bed I noticed they had the stickers with the patients info (first/last name, DOB, MRN #). I noticed one of the stickers had my daughters name but the other two stickers had some older ladies info. That was very unprofessional of the staff. They need to drink more coffee by the end of their shift because that was two big mistakes. read more

Worst insurance ever! I don't even bother going anymore! Before I retired I worked in the Med. Ins. field...Health Net, L.A., a TPA (third party administrator) and King County Med. Seattle, Boeing Division. When at Health Net during Open Enrollment, the ratio seemed to be people who wanted desperately to get off Kaiser!! It appears nothing has changed, all these many years. I've had 'three' DOCTORS who left & confided in me that they "couldn't take it anymore"....! Since Gavin Newsom awarded KP a 'No Bid' Contract, their subscriber roles are at the Max between MediCal and ACA. Even Staff nurses agree it's just one big 'Cattle Call'! read more

Kaiser Permanente just sucks! It's managed death care. Once upon a time it was adequate, but now thanks to Obama care it is the public health care for the masses. It takes more than four weeks to get an appointment with your doctor and the an additional four plus weeks to get an appointment for the referral that your doctor gives you. KP you suck! Worse that the VA. Death before recovery. Again KP sucks somethings never change. Waited six weeks just to get a cortisone shot. Get there 15 minutes early for appointment as required. Then they put you in a box for 50 more minutes and you wait and wait and wait... no one ever comes to give yo the shot. Fuck you Kaiser you suck! read more

I decided to go ahead and post my review about Kaiser after finally speaking to my primary MD who confirmed my suspicions. I rarely have a need for medical attention. When I do, however, I expect to have time and attention and follow up accordingly. I too work in the medical field and know that we have to be our own best advocate because Md's and their nurses are too busy. I'm told to email my doctor when I need advice. I sent 4 emails to two different doctors and the doctors NEVER saw my emails because the nurses intervened and never addressed my inquiries. I was asking for support on my bloodwork and asked for support to get kaiser to call me to get my cat scan scheduled. I couldn't get a return call or email. Not until I called directly and spoke to a kind gal who had heard similar complaints from others and she forwarded my request to my primary. This took two days shy of 3 (THREE) weeks. Unacceptable. I pay a lot for my coverage and my copays are also high. I expect and DESERVE better from my health provider. I am giving 3 stars because when I am in my appointments and have direct contact with nurses in PT or urgent care or pharmacy or even radiology..... the nurses are AWESOME. They make you feel like you matter. The doctors are tired of hearing our complaints and have apparently spoke to Kaiser Corp about it but ...NO ONE is doing anything about it. So, if you have a need... call, and call again and again. Get what you deserve especially when you pay a lot for it. This is our HEALTH and we shouldn't have to fight for help, but, keep up the hard work and do NOT WAIT for someone who isn't going to follow up. Keep calling and fight. It sucks but, just do it. If I find better health coverage this next year, I'm getting rid of Kaiser. I want a provider who can control their staff and the processes that affect their patients. I know my doctor wants things to improve but even she said that she's not been able to get Kaiser to listen and do more for her patients. It's a damn shame. Fight for yourself. Don't sit back and HOPE someone will call you, because it may be too late and in most cases, these days, they won't answer your email or call you back and all the while, your doctor never knew you were trying to get a hold of them. I went into kaiser (La Sierra) PREGNANT and the nurse (who looked right out of prison) with a HUGE chip on her should broke me down to tears. She was SO mean to me. When I first came in, she said to get on the scale. Part of my eating disorder recovery plan is to not be weighed, so I said "no thank you" and she just rolled her eyes and barked at me to sit down. I sat down and she took my blood pressure. I said " what was it?" She said, "you can ask the doctor... here pee in this." It was a paper cup. I was wondering, does she want my clean urine to pass a drug test with her parole officer? I did so, and she said she would be standing outside the door waiting for me. She wasn't. So I was standing in the hall, holding a paper cup of urine. So unsanitary and frankly disgusting. So I put it back in the bathroom, washed my hands and came out to wait for her. She came back finally and said "I told you to hold it out here!!!! Where is it!!?" I said "it's in there" and she said "well you need to go get it now." I said, "can you please not be so mean to me?" She said "you're not doing anything I'm telling you to do." Finally I couldnt take her meanness anymore, so I went to get my husband out of the waiting room. I said, "she's being so mean to me, I can't take it." When I went over to get her, I heard her said "white people" under her breath. I was so shocked, I couldn't talk. He came in and she acted so innocent. Like she didn't say or do anything to me. I was in the waiting room shaking like a leaf and pregnant and so upset. I wrote a complaint to kaiser and NEVER heard anything back. So I decided to put this on the internet since they can't handle it. Now you know, the staff is low class and rude and racist. read more

I've had Kaiser my whole life under my parents growing up and now as a married adult with a family. When I was young I had bad asthma since birth from stories I've heard and went to emergency for breathing treatments and proper diagnosis which I did not get till I was at least 11 my 1st bad experience, but I was a kid. Now as a parent I've always been fine with treatment for my family we've never had anything major needed for care and can get same days or physicals scheduled with no issue. Recently my son developed a rash and I scheduled a video appointment right away because of course with covid that's the best I'm going to get! The diagnosis given was wrong, I sent pictures and messages the following week pleading for help I got no response, I scheduled another video appointment the dr never called, I took my son to urgent care and not only got another wrong diagnosis, but wrong information regarding the diagnosis given. Finally heard from my sons pediatrician 2 days after I sent a message with pictures she wanted him brought in for test. They got nothing off him that would work for testing and were still in the dark so we got steroid prescriptions to help in the meantime and a referral to Dermatology. Here I am another week later the steroids are gone, the rash is coming back and it never fully went away and I've had to threaten legal action to Kaiser and still have not heard from a dermatologist and get disconnected anytime I try calling for assistance. Tomorrow I will be taking my son into a dermatologist office and paying out of pocket in hopes for some answers and will be finding out how to handle the situation with Kaiser because this has to be illegal medical practices on their end. I plan to leave Kaiser when open enrollment rolls around and just hope other medical practices are treating the customers and patients better under these circumstances because I'm sorry, but covid is not the only health issue out there!!! read more

I've been a member for years and for years I cannot give a reason to be here still. The only pros are access to all doctors and hospital all in one area, and that my kids have kept the same doctor all their life. But is that even worth it? If you call member services 99.8% they will give you WRONG information. Why bother calling? I get info from them, and come to Kaiser for such a complete waste of time because they misinform me. I've been a member of Kaiser Permanente since the 80's and have had nothing but great experiences in every department. I've had several surgeries there, my husband had his colon resection for colon cancer there and subsequent chemotherapy with them. The physicians and support staff were wonderful - very caring, competent, and respectful. I can phone and get my questions answered, make appointments easily, refill prescriptions (I especially appreciate their mail service) and use their website. They use electronic records so you can access them any time and stay current. I receive my lab results the same or next day. I receive a reply from my primary care doctor within 24 hours of sending her an email. Their preventive care services are second to none - their goal is to keep you healthy. I felt compelled to post a review after reading such negative ones. I've used Kaiser at several locations and over many years and can't relate to any of the negative posts - they certainly do NOT represent my personal experiences. read more

Kaiser is just has to many patient's, they shove them in and out so fast they lose patience and don't listen. My husband has been having bladder issues, and all they do is give him meds and send him home. This has been going on for over four years. The urology department is so busy they don't take anytime or care. MY Husband was suppose to have surgery in Nov. no one call nothing, so we are force to look else where for his care.
