A few buddies of mine came here before the Blackhawks game last Thursday for Pat Foley's last game where he was announcing on TV. Very sentimental moment for Blackhawks fans... Kaiser Tiger is a very cool place to hang out and I have been here a few times. The ambience is definitely a restaurant, but think beer hall/hunter's lounge vibe. They have a laid back casual atmosphere, a great beer menu, and curling during the winter (I think shuffleboard during summer). There are also board games in the backroom and they have a nice patio. I noticed that they have a small shuttle bus to drive you over to the Blackhawks game, which is I think it is free (tip your driver) and is a nice perk. We arrived around 5pm before the Hawks game and there were not many people there, but it was a packed house as it got closer to game time. We ordered the Kaiser Plate to share, which has a humongous pretzel! However, the pretzel was somewhat stale (tough to bite into as it needed a ton of dipping sauce and more butter or egg wash to soften it up) and I have had much better at Prost! and World of Beer, which are very similar concepts to Kaiser Tiger (run-on sentences are cool when Yelping). The best things were the beer/bacon sausages and the potato salad, which were great! For my entree, I ordered the Kaiser Royale, which is their house burger. Of course I am adding it to my burger rankings. The bun was an average kaiser roll. The burger patties were overly seasoned and almost extremely peppery. Don't get me wrong I love seasoning and I like pepper, but this just did not fly with me. It looked like the burger patties were chargrilled (Burger King), which is ok, but I don't think it was that juicy due to the excessive seasoning. The best part of the burger was the toppings. The cheese was average and the bacon was excellent, however the lettuce and tomato were extremely blah, but to be fair it was fresh. For my ranking it goes Bun: 5, Burger: 4, Toppings: 5, and an overall ranking 4.67. Overall, I think Kaiser Tiger is a great bar to come to grab a beer, watch some sports, and play some curling with friends. They have a big space so it is good for bigger parties. It's a great atmosphere, but food is very mediocre except for the bacon. Service was adequate and prices were good for the West Loop. This review is pretty much a high 3, low 4 so very mixed given the food and the best part being the beer and atmosphere. I would love to come back and try the Bomb someday, but I need to work up an appetite for it first! read more

This place used to be awesome. This place used to care. I came here for my very first time today. Beforehand, I was living vicariously through friends. I went here for the very first time today, my husband's 3rd. The food was at best, mediocre. My husband ordered the bacon wrapped dog, if by wrapped you mean throw it on a bun and sprinkle it with bacon then they blew it out of the park. If not, this was a sad excuse for bacon wrapped anything. If you're going to cut corners, think about changing the name of the dish. It was a Sunday night, granted the Hawks lost, but it was a sad night at this restaurant. read more

Really mixed reviews about this place. Great for big groups! We sat at a picnic table outdoors and it was awesome! A ton of space, heaters above even when it was 38 degrees I was comfortable without a coat on, but we did see a lot of rats at night (8PM+). Apparently the house cat usually takes care of them but at one point we had two rats coming towards our table. It got to the point that I was sitting on the table because I have not really experienced this issue at any other patio in Chicago and not a big fan. I would maybe recommend another cat. The food was good. The indoor bar was fun and service was good. Unfortunately the issue that we experienced outdoors (which I realize is a large Chicago issue) has deterred me from coming back to eat here on the patio. Food and drinks are solid. Nice open door cafe garden. Not so good new manager who doesn't let individuals pay for what they ordered. Our German group has always come here in past but will most likely not be coming here in future given the new rule that they accept only 6 cards and will only evenly distribute. Several members of our party felt they were shortchanged in having to pay more than what they ordered because of rules that were not disclosed ahead of time to us ordering. In past the establishment did separate checks now new owner doesn't believe that is acceptable being an establishment that only takes credit card and no cash. Fun place to go with friends, especially on warm days when you can enjoy the patio. During the summer they often have live music on the patio which is awesome! They have a pretty large selection of beer and good food to snack on (fries, pretzels, sausages). The cocktails and other food besides appetizers I've gotten have been just ok, but I don't mind that too much because it's not what I come here for. I also really like how approachable and friendly it is here - it's usually not too hard to get a table and and feels casual, relaxed, and fun. read more

A group of us went for dinner before a hockey game. I know that this location is huge for pre-game dinner. I think that this location anticipates a large crowd before a game and prepares the food ahead of time. The appetizers and entrees were cold when brought to the table. I split a burger with my friend. It was cold and very dry. I wouldn't recommend before a game. Food is mass produced. Maybe the restaurant is different when there isn't a game. There are an abundance of restaurants around the stadium. Next time, I will suggest our group of 10 eat elsewhere. read more

On our recent visit to Chicago we came to Kaiser Tiger for dinner. It was a warm summer night, so the shaded patio was the perfect place to sit. It was fairly busy, as it was a Friday night, and the service was a little bit slower than I would have liked. If you like French fries, it's a must to try theirs! We ordered the large tray of fries and even with four people munching on them we couldn't finish them! The sauces that come with the fries are what makes them so special. My favorites were the Irish curry and garlic aioli. I ordered the cheesy brat and it was delicious. My fiancé and cousin both ordered the Kaiser Royale burger, and they agreed that it was fine but it definitely needed sauce, and it was strange that it didn't come with any. read more

I've been here a couple times since the in-door dining ban, and I have been pleasantly surprised each time!Despite the 30 degree temps, my husband and I have been quite comfortable sitting at the outdoor patio/beer garden. It is well set up, and all the tables are situated under overhead heaters. Great beer options, and there are some really good appetizers and entrees to choose from. Good spot to go for COVID. Huge patio with a ton of open seating. I started off with a pineapple cider that was quite tasty and then split the schnitzel sandwich and the Kaiser board. Sandwich was tasty but average and the patty was a bit thin and dry. They really beat that meat thin. The Kaiser board had its ups and downs. The pretzel was fantastic, next time I'll just order those until I'm full. It was so fluffy and soft. Had good amount of salt, and had that robust pretzel flavor. Kraut provided a nice supplement to the pretzel. However, the sausage was mediocre, didn't have the snap that I was looking for. Flavor was good, but tasted similar to kielbasa sausage you get at the store. Very disappointed by the "bacon" potato salad. I think they forgot the bacon or any sort of seasoning because it was bland. My friends got the brats and loved them so I would definitely give that a try next time. read more

Huge patio, diverse beer menu, good food. I've been a number of times, most recently during COVID brunch and they're doing it right - reservations, plenty of space, small groups, very safe. But i've been a number fo times and the non-COVID beer menu is much larger and always diverse. So glad to see a menu that isn't just IPAs. They always have some good wheat ales, Belgians, sours, or lagers. Huge bar area with plenty of space for standing around or grabbing a beer and heading to that patio. Patio includes bocce in the summer and curling in the winter. The games are always busy tho, so good luck. They have a second, smaller bar on the back patio though so ou can order outside. They also have a huge second floor with another full bar! The food's good. German food. Lots of high quality sausages with a diverse sauce offering. I love the goulash and it's always enough for two meals. If you've got a group, get a tray of fries. The fries are so damn good and just dip into the sauces. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite for lunch. Friendly staff, I ate at the bar. They have a good beer selection. I ordered the Bacon Grenades and The Bomb Sandwich. Having lived a few blocks away from Kaiser Tiger for almost a year, I can't believe I waited so long to check them out, but I'm SO glad we did. We stopped by on St Patrick's Day and as to be expected, it was packed. That being said, our waitress was AMAZING at fighting through the crowd and making sure we had what we needed. Their beer list had great variety, and even though we planned on going elsewhere for dinner, after an hour of staring at their menu, we caved and ordered food. My husband and I both got the Paddy's Long Polka and everything was amazing, from the pretzel roll, to the fries, to the toppings. I feel guilty for underestimating Kaiser Tiger. But now I'm older and wiser and will probably be a regular visitor. read more

Found this place on a Thurs night but couldn't get in, it was packed! (Good sign ). So when we stumbled upon tickets to a Hawks game, we knew where we wanted to go. I have an affinity for German food and this menu did not disappoint. Fun blend of American trends on German sausage, loved the andouille w goat cheese, beer and bacon had a DELICIOUS classic sausage, and the bacon board starter was fun too. Wish I had room for the bacon wrapped dates, my fav dessert at tapas restaurants. Nice windows for natural lighting, good variety in beer menu, and attentive service in the front dining area. My family came here as a throwback to our trip to Oktoberfest and boy we were not disappointed! The outside patio has heaters and is a cute spot to hang out. So many rats on the patio... it's gotta be a health code violation. At least there's a cat that runs around and chases them. That being said, it's kind of a staple bar on the west end of west loop. The food is all pretty average and not much to write home about with the drinks. The beer selection is solid. Service always leaves something to be desired with seemingly uninterested servers. Covid brunch review. Reservations recommended. Unlike most West Loop restaurants mid June, which were crowded with brunchers trying to take advantage of the lovely weather, this establishment, with its massive patio, could accommodate its guests handily and the service was superb to boot. Our toddler was thankfully walled off from other diners and we were able to enjoy the vegetarian sandwich, a number of 5oz beer pours, and their royale with cheese burger. The burger came strong with the worchester sauce and both beef patties were medium well but my wife liked the ensemble better than au cheval. The fries were great and the garlic aeoli sauce as well as the remoulade were fantastic. I'd come back just for the fries and beer frankly. Great hosts and restaurant. read more

I went for a happy hour with a group of three to Kaiser Tiger midweek last week. We were seated outside, which was nice- lots of shaded tables as options. They were pretty busy, but it didn't really sacrifice service. Fun atmosphere, albeit a little on the loud side, but I'm old and my threshold for noise is low. Our server was very friendly and understanding when we needed some extra time to make decisions on orders. She was also happy to give recommendations on the best of the vegetarian options, which was helpful. We ended up each ordering one drink. I had a beer, and I must note that their beer list was extensive and nicely varied. My wife had a cocktail that she wasn't much a fan of, so I think this place is more of a beer ordering spot! We each ordered an entrée, and split the large order of fries. Let me just say that if we had all only JUST ordered one order of fries and no entrees, we'd have not needed anything else. It was HUGE. Portion sizes the likes of that haven't been seen east of 90-94 in years. They were also delicious and came with a choice of two dipping sauces. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the fries were damn good. Everything else was subpar. The atmosphere was less than desirable - very loud and filled with bros & woo girls. The waitress barely checked on us, and when she did she would stand 10ft away & yell "everything good?!", give a thumbs up, then walk away before we could respond. We started with the bacon wrapped dates (if you can all them that - the bacon barely wrapped all the way around the dates on most of the pieces), which were just ok. I got the Veggie Wedgie & boo got the Chicken Sammy, plus we split a big order of fries. He liked his sandwich but mine was pretty bland (I'd expect more seasoning on grilled veggies), but the fries were great. To top it all off, the Women's bathroom was filthy -it looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in months, there was standing water on the floor, & tp strewn all about. All the reviews have to do a lot about the service. My experience was pretty good. Only thing we ran into was that we struggled to split the check. Anyways, this place has a great vibe to it. Outdoor seating is amazing for happy hour and/or evening festivities. The fries - Pretty good. Substance in the middle with the potato being flaky, texture on the outside with the crisp ones shining through. Seasoned well with salt. The flight of sauces - Definitely recommend getting a set of these and sharing between friends. Something we didn't know was that the large fries already comes with sauce too so make sure you specify it for those two in addition to your flight or they'll give you an extra ransom one for each set of fries you order. My personal favorites were the curry and garlic ones. The boss sandwich - Basically a bacon cheeseburger. It's a mix of spicy beef and pork sausage that has bacon wrapped around. Meat wasn't dry. I planned an event for a big work group at Kaiser Tiger hoping for good patio weather. Unfortunately, it was super cold this particular Monday but we still enjoyed the vast indoor space. The appetizers and sausages were delicious, as were the variety of beers. This spot definitely had a lot of potential, but unfortunately I wasn't a fan of how our event was handled. Other than that, I would recommend to try it out with some friends! The beer and bacon sausage and chicken muchaho sausage were both delicious, and the fries were so addicting with the sauces as well. We ended up here since it was close to the United Center and a group of us were heading to a Bulls game. It's a pretty large restaurant but it definitely filled up since there was a game! They had a nice sized selection of beers, which was great. I got the chicken sandwich and it was delicious - my only note is that there are no sides included which seemed unusual given the price of the sandwich. Overall it was a fun spot - we didn't do the outdoor activities but I know that's why a lot of people come. I love this place! Where else can you get a bacon board for an appetizer? Food had always been top notch and service is always on top of it. Usually there on Sundays and bartender is always talkative and outgoing. Outside area is huge. I love how one side you get a server and they other you go up to bar. It's easy to get carried away at Kaiser Tiger. The drink menu is as long as the drinks that flow. The food menu is sure to partner well with the beer and cocktails. Stir all this together, and it's a fun time at Kaiser Tiger. I went with a couple friends. The first thing my friend said to me was, "Do you like Bacon Grenades?" I. LIKE. BACON. GRENADES? (Said in Ron Burgundy voice.) This place is clutch. Stylish and laidback, all in one. I ordered a Cookies n Creme beer by Pipeworks Brewing (you should put this brewery on your list, if you haven't), and two Sex on the Patio cocktails (fruity but not too sweet). Next time, I want in on the food here. It's a must. The music is so loud here, but I could still hear everything in conversation at our table. Space is a little crowded, and we frequently bumped backs with other bar patrons. I should also mention that there is a Curling patio in the winter time. If you like meat, this is the place for you. They focus on different types of sausages, and their showcase is "The Bomb," which is 5 pounds of beef and pork sausage stuffed with bacon, wrapped with more bacon. So it's a giant meat bomb. We got 8 friends to go in on it together and while it was a challenge to finish, we did it and it was delicious. We also got some appetizers, the bacon-wrapped dates were outstanding, and the others were enjoyable. They also have an extensive beer list, and you get can get them in various sizes so you can do more sampling than at most places. I had a wheat ale and a sour, and both were delicious. The other appeal of this place is that they have curling. We came for some friends' birthday, and the plan was to go curling after dinner, but unfortunately it had been too warm (who would've though it'd be too warm for curling in February?!) Our server was very good, and extra patient as we had people trickling in all throughout dinner. He was very attentive every time someone new came in to be sure they got a drink. At one point, we got too big for our table so they asked us to move over to the side room, but at least as far as I know they weren't rude about it. Stopped here on a Sunday morning to grab a bloody and ended up spending a couple hours here. The bloody Mary's were delicious and unique tasting. I got the side order of biscuits and gravy and the boar sausage. Really good but next time I would just the full order of biscuits and gravy. It may not look like much from the picture but it was really good. My boyfriend got the bomb sandwich and wow was it good. I wouldn't have been able to handle more than one bite so just make sure you're hungry for this one. Restaurant was fun with a whole game shelf to chose from while you eat (we played battle ship). I kind of loved it here. We came in around 5 PM on Saturday, and it was definitely busy! We were seated at a table immediately, but we asked to sit at the bar. The bartender is for super attentive, and they were able to give me recommendations easily. The beer list is plentiful, but I ended up getting a cider. It was a local one, and it was OK. My boyfriend really liked the beer selection, and thought it was delicious. The fries here are incredible. We ordered large fries, but the bartender want to style is absolutely too much for us. So we ended up getting the small, which really was enough. However, the garlic aioli was really the wrong consistency. The fries were not dip well in it, so the majority of the dip was not used. The flavor had a lot of potential! Even better, there is a shuttle from the restaurant to that United Center on the night of any basketball, hockey game, or concert. It runs about every 15 to 20 minutes, and it is absolutely free! The street parking around the restaurant is free after 5 PM, so you can get to the United Center for absolutely no cost!
