Came here on a whim while happy hour hopping and it was a great find! We got there as they opened and sat at the bar with no problem. The bar staff were all so kind, we had a great conversation about the menu and the time keeper with sand. I ended up getting the blossom highball and I can't stop thinking about it! It was so good!!! $22 so likeeee not a happy hour drink lol, but it was so tasty and worth it!! They also have the pay by phone option, which I love! We visited the Press Room for happy hour. The ambiance was extremely dark--so much so that I had to hold the small electric candle up to the menu just to read it. We ordered drinks and a "board" described as a daily selection of meats, cheese, and accompaniments. The drinks were tasty and fresh, but the board was disappointing; it felt more like a child's snack plate with ham than a charcuterie board from a restaurant. De La Sol was pretty strong but pretty refreshing and the Blue Magic had a unique flavor - the bourbon wasn't super strong which I appreciated. For food we got the Burrata and Bang Bang noodles to share. The burrata was lovely but wish they gave more bread and I wasn't a huge fan of the noodles - they were really thick and felt more like a salad with some noodles. The press room was a fun experience. We went here for an office happy hour and loved our time here. The happy hour is a really good bang for your buck. We tried the filthy martini, the coconut cafe, the modelo negroni and the old fashioned for our cocktails. All of them were really good. For the apps, we tried the avocado hummus, patatas bravas and the burrata. The food was great but the portion sizes were really small. Remember to order up. The service was great though, the servers were friendly, kept checking in on us, and were very hospitable. The ambience was really cozy. Happy hour specials are small oysters on a bed of large salt crystals for $1 each and some drinks are $8 and some other apps are a good deal like a $14 burrata w baba ganoush is very good. The press room is a speakeasy in the west loop. It's a great place to go for drinks. It was my first time there and I want to try something new. This is a place you probably would need reservations for but I went and it wasn't super busy without a reservation me and my friend was able to add a table and not the bar. Because it is a hidden gem a real small speakeasy. It was very dark in there but it didn't bother me. They have really good drinks. Their food is Shareables a small plate but me my friend got our own food and we both got the bang bang noodles and my friend got oysters as well. This quasi-hidden gem has become one of my favorite places as it has a bit of sex appeal. When I first moved to West Loop a couple of years ago, the way to get in was a text message and yo had to show up in the alley for entry...such a dope speakeasy vibe! I think they have since gone away from that as that was the only time that happened...now I just come in from the front lol! Staff is always good people especially the good dudes behind the bar. I've had a couple of great meals here, but the cocktails are definitely the star of the show. We had to order a lot though for our group of 4 - the portions are definitely on the smaller side for the price. Damn. It is a nice atmosphere but the service was insane. There were two characters in particular that left a sour taste in my mouth. The first guy made it seem difficult to accommodate 5 instead of 4 in an empty bar then he admitted the charcuterie was pre-packed and they could not guarantee accommodating our vegetarian friend because of it being a lunchable. Then after we got served our very subpar food we ordered a second round and once served, moments later the second character sashayed our way and asked us to quiet down. The bar was literally 30% occupied, IF! He led with "not trying to be offensive". Anyway, he kept coming to our table, another at least three times and each time it left us feeling more eager to leave. Will not be returning, beyond disappointed. Don't go for happy hour. The only good thing about this place is the quality/taste of their cocktails. Otherwise, a big disappointment. Here's the rundown of our experience: - Service was incredibly slow. Had to get up and ask for the check in the end. - Oysters were served lukewarm. Probably not a food safety level issue but certainly doesn't make them very enticing. - Charcuterie was 1) extremely small for the price 2) low quality cheese and meat and 3) also served awkwardly warm - the cheese even had a hard dry skin on it like it had been on a cheese plate in the sunshine for an hour before getting to our table. - they also charge a credit card fee, which is just kinda annoying for such an established place in west loop. I'd be fine with that at a small hole in the wall place or a mom and pop shop but seems excessive for a place like the press room. - read more

A bit torn on this review--wish I could give 3.5 I think the food was pretty decent - would I come back for it? Probably not. Got the cacio de Pepe which was okay but nothing exciting. The fried Brussels sprouts were very delicious however! Very flavorful. The short rib was good, meat was very tender (literally falling apart) and a good portion. But I would have liked a side of greens just to cut through the richness and fat. Drinks were really good- got the three bites of apple cocktail and it was perfect. The service was lacking- we literally had to track down our waiter to come give us the check- he didn't check on us at all. However, we did find a waitress that went above and beyond to help us. Such a cool place! Great happy hour specials with great service too! I came with my family of seven for their $1 oysters and $8 martinis and old fashioned happy hour special on Tuesdays & Thursdays. These oysters were East coast (my favorite), super fresh, and perfectly cleaned. They came with lemons, mignonette sauce, and their homemade hot sauce which was FANTASTIC. Our service was also great! At one point we had three different servers helping our table. Shout out to Adam & Paul! They were kind, didn't mind our loud rambunctious party, and drinks were made/delivered super fast!
