I decided to come back for nastolgia and I don't know if the owners changed but they should've taken the company name with them because this place is not the same at all. Let me say I went through my emo phase years back and I liked certain songs but even back then I would think this was weird: I dont think Hollywood Undead singing about unaliving themselves and the different ways they'd do it is an appropriate song to play in an icecream shop... It felt so weird. All the songs were the grunge emo type, which I get is someone's personal taste, but you'd think the owners would monitor what is being played. The atmosphere is so different. Disappointing. The Pandan Lava Croffle and the Ube Long To Me Latte both left me underwhelmed for the price. The croffle was about $11-12 and tiny, smaller than my fork and about the size of my palm (I'm a small person), so that's saying something. On top was this pandan layer that was more like an inedible jelly than anything else. It was thick, sticky, stuck to my teeth, and the sweetest thing I've ever tasted! (Not in a good way). Both things we got were yummy! The shokupan toast was soooo good. If youve had the one at hard wok, this one is way better. It's so buttery, and all the toast pieces are toasted to perfection. Went great with the black sesame topping. The bingsu we got was pretty good as well, but I wish the mango was softer and sweeter. Kakigori Dessert Cafe is located in the Parkway Square Shopping Center in the Southcenter area of Tukwila. This shopping center gets busy, so you might need to park further away from the cafe. However, there is plenty of parking in this lot. The cafe itself is cool. They have plants for sale inside, which I wasn't expecting! I didn't walk through the whole cafe. I just stayed up front by the cash register waiting for my order to be ready. I've been to Kakigori Dessert Cafe once before in their Capitol Hill location in Seattle. So, this is my first time at the Southcenter location. I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Croffle to-go and my total came out to be $14.33 after tax. It was very HOT, especially the sticky rice part. It was good, but I don't think this combination was ideal. I will return to try other desserts soon! read more

I was in the neighborhood selling back some books at half Price books, when I saw this cute little dessert bar, there was a menu listed outside so I made sure to take photos and make a decision before going in. Upon entering, I noticed there was another separate menu on a small board to the left of the desert counter. I stood for a little bit before I was greeted, and no one seemed particularly welcoming or excited to be there. They all seemed courteous and busy with their own tasks When I went to order the "cheese tea", the cashier had me repeat it a few times as it wasn't familiar to her. Thankfully, I was able to pull up the photo on my phone and order it correctly as the "cheese black tea." I also ordered a taro and red bean croffle, which I learned is a mix between a waffle and a croissant. I absolutely love the flakiness of croissants so I couldn't wait to try it. I ordered everything to-go and waited in the long and narrow hallway on the left side of the cafe that had a beautiful artificial floral wall. While I waited, I was able to peruse some house plants for sale. As a house plant mom myself, I loved that they had this, and it added a sense of relaxation. My order came out promptly within a few minutes, but the croffle was made for here. No biggie, I had a few minutes to spare. So I enjoyed it inside. Although I could see what they meant with the blend of the two desserts, there was no real flakiness to the waffle. I think the batter was a little heavy, and it made the inside a little gummy. Apart from that, it smelled like a yummy donut and tasted like one too. The outside was delightfully crunchy, and I liked that the red bean and taro was not overly sweet. The cheese black tea on the other hand, was a little watery. The cheese foam was not as flavorful as I've had in other places either. Lastly, I think it would be really nice to see them use reusable silverware instead of plastic silverware. I'm sure I would be free to bring my own, but it would be so nice to support a business that was doing their part to be sustainable. Based on my experience today, I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. But others might have a different experience. read more

I was sad to hear that the Kakigori over at Madison Street closed down, so it was great that we still have one much closer to me down in Tukwila! I went here with a friend after dinner for some dessert after going through some tough, tight shared parking with Bai Tong, Miyabi and Half-Price Books around the same area. There's a few tables inside for seating, a bunch of potted plants to the right when you enter that are purchasable, and a menu in front of the cashier where you can order your stuff. Servers bring the food to you in trays, and I liked how they pointed us in the right direction for utensils and napkins if we needed any. Time-period wise, I went here on a Thursday weeknight. With my pictures, my friend and I most certainly overdid it; we got the mango stick rice bingsu AND the pandan lava toast, both of which were much larger than we thought they'd be! The mango stick rice bingsu was overflowing with very fresh mango both on the top and in the middle of the cup, just separated by shaved ice. It even came with some warm sticky rice on the side as advertised. This would well be your regular mango sticky rice in terms of taste, only that you have ice in it, which is to say that I loved the concept of this one sooooo much! And pandan on toast is a definite yes! There was a lot more red bean paste on it than what I would have liked, but the pandan flavor profile was strong enough that I didn't have to classify it was plain vanilla, and the extra mochi bits added a ton of great texture onto the dessert! The bread definitely helped to serve as a palette cleanser in the end for all the overflowing but much-needed sweetness it had. I pretty much highly recommend this place and would go here if I wanted something sweet in a pinch! They have plenty kinds of desserts or just plain soft serve if you want something more simple. read more

Glad this place is near me because I loooove dessert. I have tried the watermelon bingsu, mayo cheesecake bingsu, strawberry cheesecake waffle, and the mango sticky rice. All are good! None are the best I've ever had but the service is great, food comes out pretty fast (and made to order including each waffle), and the quality is consistent. They also sell plants which is cute. I've had good lucky with the ones I've purchased from here, but you have to be careful. On several occasions I've seen them selling some very sick plants and some that are heavily infested with spider mites. read more

We ordered, sat down, and the food came out fast without any issues. Ambiance is a Japanese or Korean pop album? It's hard to hear the lyrics - but it's not English, that is for sure. Missus rates this a 3.5 - too few toppings. I agree with the lack of options for toppings - but also generally the lack of options / variety. I came here on a Wednesday around 7:30PM and there was no one in the store. Our bingsu was ready within 5 minutes. I had such high expectations for this place but there were so many bugs/flies in the store that I couldn't enjoy my bingsu and had to eat in the car.. Aside from all the bugs, all the desserts here are really cute! The bingsus and some of their drinks come with cute frozen animals on top. We've only tried the Lychee Ice Tea, and we thought it was pretty good. Good Thai tea flavor with a bit of lychee flavor with some lychees in it. YUM SO GOOD!! We got the Thai iced tea bingsu and watermelon bingsu. Both were 10/10 the watermelon was sweet but not too sweet, the real watermelon gave it the natural sweet flavor. The watermelon balls were a perfect touch to the top. The Thai ice tea was very good, a little on the sweet side but perfect amount of ice and Thai ice tea mixture. The bear on top was cute and tasty! We also got the waffle, the Oreo cookies one. We loveee these croffles everywhere so chewy and crispy and yummy! Can't wait to try all the other flavors. Came here on a weekend evening early around 6pm and got a taro bingsoo (shaved ice) and a mango sticky rice soft serve. The portions are on the more generous side for the shaved ice--I think I would've shared the bingsoo between two people if I had known how large it was beforehand. There was a nice cheesecake surprise (chunks of cheesecake in the bottom under the shave ice portion), that made it quite a filling dessert. I thoroughly enjoyed my mango sticky rice too, the mango was ripe and the sticky rice was warm and the right chewy consistency. The soft serve itself wasn't anything to write home about but it was nice that it was lactose free for those of y'all that care. Suggestion for the frozen ice animals, not sure if these were meant to be eaten, but if so may be an idea to use something more jelly-like so it's easier to eat.
