Favorite Greek Place in Collin County! The portions are good sized, as well as the hummus!

Visited Sunday night with my in-laws, so party of 4. Service was great, very nice place for downtown Anna. We had the lamb Gyro patter for 2 and my in-laws had the mixed chicken and lamb Gyro platter for 2. Flavors were great, tzatziki sauce was on point! Size of portions to cost gives you great value here! Four reasons I am not getting 5 stars so you can judge. In order: 1. Chicken in the mixes Gryo platter was horrible dry, no one could not swallow it. 2. Pita bread cut into 1/2's vs 1/4's would be MUCH better it's really hard to eat everything on 1/4 cut pitas. 2. Red onion pieces way too small, like all most diced with a few normal cuts (tomato size cut was perfect!) 4. Christmas music was too loud (maybe a little picky on this one) read more

Being married to a Greek, we always are looking for that place and Kalamaki's offers that truly authentic Greek cuisine and it helped that it came highly recommended by a friend. Upon our arrival, we are greeted warmly and with the smaller dining area, we opted to be seated on the enclosed patio. Our selection of appetizers were a highlight. The olives with feta and babaganoush were unique and flavorful. The falafel was crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and the hummus is smooth and flavorful. Fresh, warm pita bread was perfect. The Moussaka, my main course, was rich and comforting, with layers of eggplant, savory beef, and potatoes served with yellow rice and salad. The overall experience was well worth the trip to Anna. The food is fresh and flavorful, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I highly recommended, so make the point to visit and enjoy! We will return very soon. read more

Wonderful, amazing gem of a restaurant in Anna. Traditional, authentic, delicious Greek dishes. Pita bread comes to the table hot with the most tasty hummus. My husband had Kalamaki pork skewers and I had Mousaka...both we're on point, and the same for the Greek side salads. Waitress and owner were attentive and friendly. We stopped here on a Saturday night after transferring a dog from our shelter south of Dallas to the dog's new foster near Anna, in the country. Starving, fast food was out of the question. We love Greek food and rarely get the opportunity to enjoy it. Kalamaki Greek Eatery popped up and it proved to be authentic and delicious. Staff were helpful and patient as we ordered and I swung for the fences and asked for one of my old favorites - Saganaki. I am used to a heartier Opa! when the alcohol is lit, but the flames were high and the cheese and pita scrumptious. Home run. We had an interesting version of Babaganoush that the owner's Mother made. Not anything like the creamy white (Mayo) or tan (Tahini) Babaganoush I'm used to, this was orange and finely chunky and spicy and by the end of the meal I wanted it on everything. I would eat it again in a heartbeat. Apparently it is not always made like this though. A happy accident. In the end, after much discussion, I ordered a lamb skepasti. They compare it to a Greek quesadilla here, but I think it has it's own identity. The pita is sturdy and crisp after being grilled and inside the lamb is tender. Combined with tomatoes, tzatziki and melted Mozzarella, it makes for a very flavorful sandwich. If I am able to come back, I would have liked spinach or lettuce with onion, maybe pickles? additionally in the sandwich. I think there's room for it. And fries aren't my thing. I do have to say that these are some excellent fries; but they have so many other options - their apps and salads, it would be nice to have hummus, for instance. My husband had the Kalamaki Chicken Plate. Two pieces of dark meat chicken, a leg and thigh, there is no white meat choice. It's served with a side salad - he chose Greek - and fries or rice or Greek potatoes - with tzatziki and pita. Dark meat legs are my husband's JAM! He dove into that leg. Even I had a bite. The meat was very tender and well seasoned, probably a marinade used and it was excellent. His Greek salad was terrific. Yes! Love Greek salad. And then, we were stuffed! This was at Christmas and Kalamaki's had GOODIES people!! I don't know what they usually have in their cases up front, but my oh my ... Lots of pieces like wonderful stuff you could put on dessert trays. And baklava, of course. Cake. Pie. You know. We had to pass it up! So Kalamaki's is in historic downtown Anna just behind the beautiful City Hall. There's street parking. Go check them out! read more

I have frequented this restaurant for a long time. Ladt night I spent $70 on a pick up order, got home and ZERO taziki sauce! The family meal was not the same with out that! I called to express my disappointment but the manager just argued with me and said sorry. No compensation whatsoever! Unacceptable. you make a mistake ok, then make it right with the customer. A nice locally owned restaurant in Anna. Friendly atmosphere with a very fast service . For appetizers we ordered Saganaki ( flaming Feta Cheese ). First time I had those and we enjoyed it. They light a fire in front of you before serving it on the table , I would not be opposed to bringing a guest and ordering it again. The Greek salad was delish ; the lamb gyro was also rich and flavorful, my husband and my kid thoroughly enjoyed it. The fries were also very crispy outside , soft interior and savory. I also order the soup (Avgolemono- lemon chicken soup). It's like a chicken noodle soup but instead of noodles it had a rice , I have had this before in other places so I figured I wanted to try it here as I had enjoyed it in the past . I find it to have a little bit too much lemon and too much spices ( not quite sure what it was but it seemed like oregano or something similar it was a bit too overpowering ) , it also needed more salt. I had really high hopes for this place bc the reviews were so great!! But it really missed the mark, two stars but that's really pushing it. Calamari was terrible (super oily and breading was so gross), Tzatziki was watery, and the mains came out bland & not even warm. I gave an extra star bc the fries were good/crunchy - but so are McDonalds sooo do with that information what u will. If you enjoy mediocre subpar food, this is the place for u!!! read more

Mediocre at Best! Disappointing All Around We came here for dinner and were initially planning to dine in, but it became so frustrating trying to get our waitress's attention just to take our order or even bring water. She repeatedly skipped over us to attend to guests who arrived after us. If we hadn't been so hungry and it wasn't so late, we would've walked out. Instead, we decided to order takeout. My husband and I both got the gyro plate. When we received our boxes, they were so light it was honestly laughable. Once we got home and opened them, it felt like a slap in the face: the thinnest strips of gyro meat, a mediocre salad, and maybe a tablespoon of rice. We paid $40 and were still hungry afterward. I've been to plenty of Greek restaurants, and this place is a joke in comparison. poor service, bland food, and tiny portions. I understand times are tough, but charging $17 for a plate that barely satisfies you is unacceptable. Definitely won't be returning. read more

So, one of my more favorite activities is anything automotive related. Recently, I was watching a YouTube show where the host asks the local person he's buying something from where their favorite restaurant is, and he goes and critiques the restaurant. This particular individual happened to be in Anna Texas. The owner of the car he was buying suggested this restaurant; Kalamaki Greek Eatery. Watching the episode, he tried every single one of the appetizers and every single one of the desserts. I personally enjoy many international food types and I found his review quite interesting. They never really critiqued Greek food previously, and watching the interaction on the show, I thought the host and owners of the restaurant did a very nice job. I happen to be about 70 miles away, living in the northwest Fort Worth area. But first chance I got I took the drive and tried it out. I wanted to try the appetizers; the Greek French fries, the Dolmas, and the marinated olives. All of them were tremendous, well executed, and exceeded my expectations. We moved into entrées. I thought long and hard about the hamburger. But ended up with the beef skewer entrée and my wife had the moussaka plate. The moussaka plate is essentially Greek lasagna. Both were well executed came with ample sides and did not disappoint. Where these folks really differentiate themselves is the individual care and concern they put into the meal. The hostess was very gracious, and the owners came out to chat and make some recommendations. Their pricing is so friendly that I actually ordered quite a few items to go. There's no way I could make it for what they sell it for. I'm kicking myself because I didn't order their soup, but that's a good excuse for a return trip. In looking at the dessert menu, I did the Greek donuts which you saw in one of the pictures with the chocolate drizzle, and what I would consider as Greek bread pudding unfortunately I did not get the name. But it's Greek sweetbread drizzled with a sauce, and then it gets a whipped cream top with walnuts adorned. It was extremely flavorful rich with a tremendous texture, but not overly sweet. It was probably one of the most well-balanced desserts I've ever had. Then a cup of their coffee finished off a very nice meal for the evening. I spent about $90 left a good tip and drove home very happily. So, next time it's going to be the soup the burger and any desserts that I've missed from the first time around and then a couple of items to go. If you're anywhere near the Dallas Fort Worth area, this is worth the trip. If you have a large party, I'm confident they would make it a fun and exciting venue and take special care of your party. Pro tip: suggest going at an off hour, so you get personalized attention. read more

We love Greek food but haven't found much that's noteworthy in the DFW area. Someone suggested Kalamaki, and I saw it had good reviews. We went for lunch, and I ordered the lamb Gyro plate with yellow rice. All the elements of the plate came together beautifully--the pita, meat, tsatziki sauce, the rice. My friend and I also enjoyed an order of dolmathes for an appetizer, and they were refreshing with the lemon juice. The food was so good that I ordered lamb gyro to go for my husband and son! Gyro plate and dip trio appetizer was great. Our kids meals were another story. My child's chicken skewer fell on the ground and they were kind enough to give us a new one. The unfortunate part was that the chicken was raw, which is unacceptable for a food establishment especially when it's a kids meal. Thank goodness I checked. We finally went since the new owners took over. We were pleasantly surprised! We just loved Lihoudies so much before, but I have to say we may have even liked this place better! We stuck with our 2 same menu items and they didn't disappoint. Dolmas - felt fresh and had a good drizzle on them. Their tzatziki was light and fresh as well. Gyro (lamb) - meat was tasty and pita was perfect amount of fluff. Came with a side salad. The dressing on the salad was bomb and felt homemade. Lamb skepasti - this is a new item. I honestly wouldn't have ordered it bc it translated as quesadilla and I wouldn't want that at a Greek place. I saw a pic online though and went for it. It was SO GOOD ! The portion was large too. Lots of meat in it and not overpowered by cheese. Came with fries. Those are solid and seasoned nicely. Service - I'm going to hold off on judging new wait staff (she was young, sweet and new). The owner came over to chat and was very friendly. Ambiance - they changed up the ordering and you order and pay at the table now. I'm thinking to make it feel more sit down/nice. The place seems to be a bit overrated. The front desk guy was nice as to be expected in a place of business. The dining room was small and not all that comfortable with wooden chairs, no benches. The extra room in the side was for people with dogs or pets. What I ordered was authentic and good for lamb gyro sandwiches but theres extra charges for extra sauce in a teeny tiny cup and an up charge for Greek Fries. I looked at the rest of the menu and everything was high priced. Their desserts were small and also pricey. Cannot come here often and will only be back for Gyros. I was asked to rate their other reviews seems like this place wants help to get more customers. Fine but they need to lower their prices this is not five star dining or the best atmosphere for those prices. The place was almost empty with only one other customer placing a to go order and one table occupied while I waited. Parking is not the best here, can be jammed up against the sidewalk in the whole place and need to be careful of your front end. read more

We stopped in here on a whim... we were going to the brewery next door and figured we'd grab something to eat before we imbibed. WOW, what a gem of a restaurant that we chose! Kalamaki is absolutely spectacular. The food was fresh and authentic. The service was fantastic, and the ambience inside was great.
