Honestly I really enjoyed everything we ordered here. The service was a little ehh, but they have a very beautiful menu and the food came out super fast and it was all pretty tasty, definitely would drive here for Mexican vs Melissa when I'm not wanting to go anywhere far.

Queso came out luke warm. Tortilla soup was DELICIOUS but a little overly salty. Service was friendly but a little slow. Be prepared for your meal to take some time.

Really just fantastic homestyle Mexican food I love the nachos which were served in little individual rounds, and the tacos were amazing. Wonderful wonderful service great ambience, will repeat 10 out of 10.

Don't let the location fool you. This is delicious fresh Mex! They have a huge menu with everything you could think of, yummy roasted salsa, delicious plates, and reasonable children's menu (with steak burritos on them!). I ordered the combination # 3 platter with a shrimp taco and a sour cream enchilada, and it was excellent. I didn't even take any photos because I was that hungry, and wolfed down my entire plate, which is rare for me. We will be back! ‍

The Food is delicious here. There's actual seasoning and TLC put into it you can tell just from the presentation. The service was amazing, we had Briana as our server and she was immaculate! Attentive to our drinks and when we needed something. Make sure if you go you ask for her!

The place is beautiful inside, service is good too. The food is equally good. We tried the vegetarian options from the menu and they were all really good. I loved the corn tortillas in the tacos, so fresh! Their street corn cauliflower taco is too good! Loved the spinach enchilada as well, I like the fact that the filling is not cheesy, it's just blanched spinach with black beans and the rice makes a great pair! The green tomatillo sauce is so so good! We asked extra to go with the enchilada and the chips. Their salsa picosa is the hottest, great addition to the tacos! For the dessert we tried their churros as a takeout and it was okay, I'm not a fan of the cream cheese filling in the churros. If you like it, you'd enjoy this one. And the portion seems good for sharing!

    Skirt steak fajitas...delicious!

I visited Mexican Cactus Taco Bar expecting your typical strip mall taco joint with decent tacos…read moreand some TVs to watch a World Cup match, but WOW did I underestimate what I was in for. I knew from the second we walked in, based on the list of made-in-house horchatas and agua frescas, that we were going to be in for a good meal. The menu was refreshingly unique compared to your basic street taco style setup or the usual Tex-Mex mashup of inauthentic tacos topped with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Our group of 3 adults, plus my 7 year old niece, shared a bowl of guacamole, which was phenomenal and came mixed with sunflower seeds and topped with crumbled cotija, alongside house-made corn tortilla chips. We also split an elote cup, which was great. My wife got a classic horchata, which was deliciously sweet (but not overly so) with a nice slight punch of cinnamon. I went with water but will definitely try an agua fresca next time. I ordered two tacos, both on house-made flour tortillas (I like corn tortillas but prefer flour when made fresh). The Pollo Azteca, with marinated grilled chicken tenderloin, mango pico, and a drizzle of crema, was phenomenal, and had more flavor than most chicken tacos I've had before. The star of my meal, however, was the Al Pastor, with adobo marinated pork tenderloin, diced pineapple, onions, and cilantro, with a slice of lime to squeeze on top. This was hands down one of the best tacos I've ever had in my life. I was floored. I also tried my wife's Carne Asada tacos, which came topped with cilantro and onions, and a slice of lime, on their house made corn tortillas. The steak was incredibly flavorful, and the corn tortillas were tender without being chewy. We shared a side of rice and beans, which was good, but not the star of the show. The rice was your typical Mexican yellow rice, and the beans were more of a soupy whole-beans style, which reminded me of my Colombian mother-in-law's recipe. The staff makes four homemade salsas, ranging from mild to pretty spicy, and I loved all of them with the exception of the mild. My niece got the kids' cheese quesadilla, which was a simple melted Oaxaca cheese between a flour tortilla, served with rice, beans, and a little side of crema. The last thing I will rave about is the service. The staff was incredibly nice from the minute we walked in, pleasant to talk to when delivering our order and asking how everything was tasting, to the moment we bussed our tables and headed for the door. I cannot wait to come back again, and I hope they stay very busy until I'm able to do so, because I want this place to be around for a very long time!

He made sure we were seated in an area where we could get the maximum amount of air conditioning, as it was a little warm inside, but still very lovely overall. Kennady, the bartender, was wonderful from the moment I arrived for the reservation. Even though I had dined there many times before, she still took the time to go over the menu thoroughly. This was not previously my favorite location, but it quickly became my new favorite because of the level of service we received. Lexi (Alexa), our server, was awesome quick, sincere, and friendly. The food came out perfectly, and everyone truly enjoyed everything. We absolutely enjoyed both the food and the downstairs service. However, when we decided to experience the rooftop area, the experience unfortunately declined. The servers upstairs refused to serve us directly and made two members of our party go downstairs just to place a drink order. Additionally, when we asked for the restaurant's plastic blinds to be closed to keep us from getting soaked by the rain, there was hesitation, and we were told it would become too hot. While we understood the concern, our request was simply to avoid getting wet from the rain. Overall, despite the disappointing upstairs experience, the service downstairs, the food, and the hospitality from Tucker, Kennady, and Lexi made the visit an excellent one. Would I come back? YES! Would I recommend? YES!

The atmosphere was extremely loud to the point where you couldn't hold a conversation, and the crowd management seemed completely out of control. It felt overcrowded, disorganized, and honestly a bit uncomfortable trying to move around or even get service. Speaking of service, it was slow and inattentive. We had to flag someone down multiple times just to get basic things handled, and it didn't seem like anyone was really paying attention to our table. The drinks were overpriced for what you get, and the overall experience just didn't match the hype at all. For a place that markets itself as a go-to celebration spot, it missed the mark. I wouldn't come back or recommend it--there are way better places in Deep Ellum to celebrate without the hassle.
