It's unfortunate that the owner is so incredibly rude and unprofessional. She really needs to take a few basic business courses. She says she's an "interior designer", but well......if you like the ratty clearance section at Hobby Lobby, you would like her style. The place is not at all warm and welcoming. These photos are just a very small percentage of the signs placed all over store. Business 101... No negativity in your signs/advertising ! Unfortunately, as the saying goes, there's a sucker born every minute. There's a high turnover of vendors who think they're going to make a killing on the little crafts and garage sale items they sell there. Let me save you the disappointment. You won't even break even. Most likely you'll lose money and move out quickly so the next unsuspecting victim can move in. The owner keeps store hours very limited because she pays the hourly help out of her pocket and it save her lots of money to have limited hours. All the while rent is due each month from vendors. You'd be better off selling on FB Marketplace, eBay, etc. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

This place was dynamic. I had no idea this is what replaced the old Steinmart! 60 shops and vintage items all under 1 roof. It had a little bit of everything and I walked away with several fun finds!! I think this is a great place to buy gifts and find unique items. They had great seasonal items! Lots of cool stuff in this consignment shop. During the pandemic, my husband had pizza outside of the shop one time. Being big cat lovers, the name drew us to park in front; but as we ate, we realized the store didn't have anything to do with kitties. A Yelp event gave me an opportunity to come in and check the store out. For furniture painters, they have an entire section of the store dedicated to furniture painting. Another section of the store has a cute little business called Body Love Garden. Lots of infused scrubs, rubs, bath bombs, and balms to help you relax, feel good, feel moisturized, and even products to keep my hubby's self beard in its best health! read more

Absolutely one of the coolest businesses around, Kalamazoo Kitty Marketplace expanded its business model when it moved into the location that formerly housed Stein Mart in the Romence Road strip mall by the Secretary of State. The inner areas of the business are a consignment furniture and vintage shop, with the outer edges of the building offering spaces for 60 different micro businesses. Plan to have at least a couple hours to explore this amazing business! They even have a cafe at the entrance If you need an energy boost to keep you up on your feet. There's something for everyone here, with lots of very affordable gifts ranging from bath & body products to books, clothing to furniture. But what there isn't, though, is parking! They do have a couple spots that are accessible for those with physical handicaps near the entrance, but otherwise you will probably wind up parking a good distance away from the doors since the nearby parking is generally gobbled up by the folks at Secretary of State. They are planning a big flea market in the parking lot area on June 12th, so If you're looking for a great day to visit, that might be a good one to pick. read more

What a store to be able to spend all day in. There are items from individual sellers as well as antiques for sale. We had a great time looking around at the wood work and home décoré items. I would love to visit again. read more

Black Friday at Kalamazoo Kitty felt like an adventure. Santa greeted us at the door with coupons for a variety of discounts. Each consignment spot was easy to find thanks to consistent signage clearly marking them. (Restrooms, by contrast, were hidden -- but once discovered, were found to be attractive and clean.) We slowly circled the store on an aisle with little shopping nooks along the exterior walls, while the center featured larger items such as lamps and furniture. Vintage? Handmade? Art? Flea market? It was all here. Holiday gifts abounded; we were impressed with so many opportunities for unique and eclectic purchases at reasonable prices, including sales and clearance. Particularly catching my eye were items with Michigan and Kalamazoo themes and, separately, ones with Scripture references. SO. MUCH. STUFF. It was almost overwhelming. I kept thinking, I have to get back here when I have more time (as in hours) to explore. However, what cost this review a star was a mediocre experience at checkout. Perhaps our expectations were too high after such a premium shopping experience. (And we certainly were tired, six hours into our Black Friday expedition.) Regardless, there were only two cashiers -- and one soon left with a dolly to move a heavy item to a shopper's car. Thankfully, there were only three people in line ahead of us, but the wait still felt unnecessarily lengthy. More help should have been available, especially on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Regardless, I look forward to future visits to Kalamazoo Kitty. It certainly lived up to its reputation around town as an outstanding vintage/thrift destination. read more

This is my Kalamazoo go-to for home decor and furniture. I am into vintage and "new old," and the Kitty doesn't disappoint. I agree with one of the other reviewers, that they are sometimes short-staffed at the front desk. Whoever is working the desk is usually always pleasant and helpful, but many times they seem harried or perhaps, just worn out. My latest shopping experience was fun, as usual, but at check-out I asked if I could leave my items up front long enough to bring my vehicle to the front loading area (they have a few of these, which is very convenient). I bought a small table and a bulky, sort of heavy wall shelf, so the staff allowed me to do this. When I came back into the store to get my stuff, the young lady at the front who'd checked me up had bagged my smaller items and put my side table out in the front area for me to grab and go. Very good service!! Unfortunately, upon driving home I realized that two of my larger things (my wall shelf and a small Christmas tree) were not placed up front for me to grab when I came back into the store to retrieve them. So I didn't think to ask for them, and the person who checked me out forgot to put the items up front with my other items. Since the store was closing soon, I decided not to backtrack to the store, but instead call them to let them know what I'd left behind, then come back the following day to get them. Now in a perfect world, one of their staff would answer the phone, but being the busy store they are, usually when you call you talk to their voicemail. I called the following morning and also got their voicemail. I plan on going back today to get the two items, and hopefully they will be up front waiting for me. read more
