The person who served me was very nice. When it came to the snowball, the ice there is too crunchy(I like soft ice) and they were kind of stingy on the syrup. Once I got my snowball I noticed that the person serving me had on an all lives matter mask . I won't be returning. read more

Very disappointed. The ice was very hard, not like the soft snowballs that I love. I also asked for two flavors and instead of doing one flavor or one side and another on the other (very common) she mixed the two flavors together which made a gross brown color and flavor.. Kalona Kones gets major points for having a variety of flavors. It was so hard to pick out something as they all sounded interesting. Additionally, they had sodas, nachos and even offered some cool combinations featuring either ice cream or candy at the bottom of the snowcone cup. I imagine that grown ups and kids alike would enjoy trying them out. After studying the menu for a good 10 minutes (seriously, there are that many flavors) I ended up picking king cake and butter cream. The butter cream was overwhelmed by the almond flavor of the king cake but it was a good sweeter flavor and I enjoyed it. I got a kiddie size for $1.00 and it was more than enough for me. I loved the decorations and you could tell that the owner put a lot of thought into making the Hawaiian theme shine through. Very cute! Very popular place so the wait in line takes awhile. There are a lot of flavors available and prices are comparable to most other places. The snow cones are the crunchy ice and not the soft type so I won't be returning. read more

Kalona Kones has the BEST snocones EVER!!! Ok, so I am not a big snocone person but when I want one, I want the best and I always end up at Kolona's!! With so many flavors to choose from it was hard for me to pick a flavor. I must say, dreamsickle with ice cream is my FAVORITE!! If you like the orange pops with ice cream in the middle form a store for $3.50 you can get one made into a snocone and it taste even better!! Awesome snow cones! Luckily, we haven't been blasted too badly thus far by the heat and humidity (knock on wood) but the southern snow cone stand is always a good line of defense against these types of elements. Kalona Kones is a Hawaiian-themed stand in my new lovely neighborhood that makes me feel like I'm standing on the North Shore of North Louisiana! It's a small aluminum shack painted a sea-green turquoise as tranquil as the deep blue Pacific itself. They have a ba-jillion and one different flavors to choose from (just about!), but for me it's always Black Cherry and here at Kalona, it doesn't disappoint! They are in a good location in a neighborhood exploding with kids and across the street from a very popular branch of the Shreve Memorial Library. They are located in the parking lot of Hilburn Printing. Kalona also has shaded-covered seating connected to the stand, so people, lovey-dovey couples, and family can enjoy their snow cones in the shade! Not a bad move by ol' Kalona there! They serve a child size 8 oz for a dollar, and a large 20 oz for $2.50, and other in-between sizes for various prices. They also serve nachos here. They are open from noon to 6pm everyday and serve interesting and unique flavors such as dill pickle, polar bear punch, candied apple and yellow bubble gum, along with the traditional and countless other flavors. They also have a few sugar free flavors. Heck, who needs the white sandy beaches of Hawaii, when you got the white asphalt of the Hilburn Printing parking lot???? You can hang ten at Kalona! The prices are the best in town. Great customer service. I love the Hawaiian themed, you can tell the owner takes pride in the look of her building. We have tried several different flavors that she offers. The taste is true to their flavor. You can tell the flavors are not pre mixed. read more

My family, extended included, have been coming to Kalona Kones for years with the Elks Club right behind it. It will make your head spin with the number of selections available. But you can sample whatever you would like, so it's not bad at all. The outside of the stand is very quaint and very kid friendly. They have a few kid sized picnic tables that they can scribble on with chalk while they enjoy their treat. On top of the sno-cones, they offer minimal concessions; cokes, chips, nachos, etc., so you have other options. The women that run the joint are very friendly, and super sweet to the kiddos. Recommend very much to anybody that is right down the road at the Duck Pond on a hot summer day!!! Enjoy!!! read more
