On average, my family and I go to Happy Belly's at least 2 or more times per week. Normally, the service is great. Today, one of the workers was very rude and dismissive. My family stopped going to Happy Belly a few years ago when we were served chocolate and vanilla custard swirls full of chewy chunks of hardened custard. My guess is they needed to clean out a machine. I attempted to notify the employees. We all put them in the trash can and never went back because the kids were more focused on socializing with each other which had become the norm. They do have delicious offerings. I have many fond memories of past frozen treats on a hot day. I had had enough of the lousy service and was now concerned about safety. I have tried the blue blast, mango, peach, watermelon, and lemonade flavors. Blue blast and mango are my favorite flavors so far. The custard is super creamy and good. I went here because I wanted some ice cream. I noticed this place is by the bank where I deposit/withdraw money depends if I am winning or losing lol. Anyways I saw their hours and decided to go and walk across the street. The front door was closed so I went through the drive-thru. Their menu is posted with a lot of selections, but I got the English toffee concrete. Overall, it was very good, but I expected the ice cream to be harder as it felt very melted. I ended up eating the whole thing however on the way back to the hotel. Service was good however. Nice time I will try something else, probably should have read the reviews and gotton the custard or gelato, but I could not find it on the menu. read more

I was surprised to see how big the menu was. I like that there are dairy free options. I got the strawberry Italian ice and asked what fresh fruit toppings were available. They only had strawberries and mango. It was delicious. I wish the strawberries were fresh. They were the kind that are sitting in syrup. But it was still good. This was perfect for todays pre summer heat. I will definitely be back to try the custard and other treats they offer. The lobby is closed but the drive thru is open. We finally got a chance to stop by Happy Belly's. The Yelp photos look great and was looking forward to trying it. The two young ladies working there the afternoon we stopped by were very helpful and friendly. They even noticed that our "road cat" was with us and offered treats for him! How often does that happen?! We tried the Gelati and an Italian Ice and both were super yummy! There may not be much of a demand but I wish they had more than one no sugar added treat at a time. My visit to Happy Belly's Italian Ice Factory was in August 2019; however, I am just finally "getting around" t writing my review. As I pondered on how big of a fan I was after just one visit, I thought to myself, are you just a fan or is this actually "as good as it gets". It didn't take me long to realize that I hadn't had a frozen custard "concrete" as good as this since my visit to Ted Drewes on Old Rte. 66 in St. Louis, MO back in 2010. For the record, I had the large Vanilla with strawberry cheesecake custard concrete. The chunks of cheesecake were so big that it was literally laughing with delight as I ate it. Yes, it was THAT GOOD! Time for a little history lesson. If you think ice cream and frozen custard are the same thing, you'd only be partially correct. They are both made from cream (or milk) and sugar. "But according to the FDA, one key difference sets the two apart: It's all about the yolks. Ice cream contains at least 10 percent milkfat and less than 1.4 percent egg yolk, while custard contains at least 10 percent milkfat but must have more than 1.4 percent egg yolk. Although this seems trivial, there is another very important difference and it's called overrun, which is basically the amount of air that's beaten into each. Ice cream machines beat a lot of air into the mixture, which creates a very fluffy dessert. Some ice creams have as much as 100% overrun, which means 1 gallon of ice cream makes 2 gallons once the air is whipped in. Custard, on the other hand, has approximately a 20% overrun; therefore, you get a much denser dessert. Class dismissed! Happy Belly's Italian Ice factory serves: Italian Ice Gelati Frozen Custard Floats & Freeze Concrete Brightly decorated Floor looks like spumoni Cremoso Shakes Concrete I only got to enjoy the concrete, but being so delicious, I would be hard pressed to try anything else. Perhaps I'll order 2 small desserts next time. The building itself may have been an old gas station at one time, but I am not sure; as the covered entrance may have been built strictly for the drive-thru service. The brick exterior façade is painted in vivid colors reminiscent of gelato flavors. Upon walking inside, the colorful tile floor, with the exception of the white tiles, looks like spumoni ice cream. They sell t-shirts and have limited bench seating inside for a few people. The staff was super friendly, let me sample a few things before purchasing and even offered up a few recommendations. I highly recommend this place is you are in the Shreveport area. read more

Having been a HB's customer for a WHILE and scooting in after a hiatus from "bad" foods, I went by to treat a friend who had never had frozen custard. She still hasn't. After forking over a fortune for two servings, we took our Kool-Whip on the road. What a dud. Is this a mix? What is this? Do you know how RICH custard is? What have they done with my original Happy Belly's? Where is the custard? Maybe the Whip flavors were good, idk because taste requests are denied. Even the pup got shorted with a broke half of a mini dog biscuit--no pup cup here. I'll give ya my frequent flyer card with eight stamps on it because I will not finish it out. Customer service was great! The girls were very polite and cheerful. I sampled the Peach & Orange cream Italian ice. I was not impressed by these flavors. I then tried the vanilla & chocolate custard. It was cream and I decided to get a brownie concrete. It was $6 and in my opinion not worth it. I could have gotten a McFlurry or DQ Blizzard for cheaper with the same taste... If I return back to happy bellies I'll try something else. I'm so glad customer service was on point. read more

They have a free stamp card that one can load up an ultimately get a free regular size Italian Ice. This place is located right next to Capital One on Youree and Shane's Seafood. You have to spend over five bucks to use a debit/credit card. It's cash for smaller purchases. They also have several photgraphs and autographs adorning the walls of celebrities who have been in this store. The most odd being the gentleman who played Leatherface in the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre, when it was filmed in Shreveport a year or two ago...Yeah, apparently Leatherface has a Happy Belly...he even says so in his autograph to this store that is proudly hanging on the wall here. read more

This is my favorite place to go for sweet treats. I have been going here for years! I love ice cream with all my heart, and their custard is just phenomenal. It is thick and creamy and super luscious. And their Italian ice flavors are fantastic. They offer such a huge variety, and they come up with new ones regularly. I generally opt for a Gelati, a layered treat with frozen custard and Italian ice, it is fantastic! Basically the best of both worlds.
