with these two angels - Aimi and Shun, I was getting ready for my son's wedding!! A fantastic experience!!
    Martha M.

My son was getting married at 5:00 pm. My appointment was 11:00 am. I was extremely nervous, being in a new city, downtown and not sure where the wedding was happening. When I walked in for my appointment I was on the edge of holding it all together. Aimi greeted me and reassured me that the stylists will help me pull myself together. She was the sweetest person. I told her how much my hair itched me and was driving me crazy. She gave me the best shampoo time I have ever felt. She let the shampoo work its way into my scalp. For the first time in weeks my scalp did not itch! The treatment she did on me was so fantastic I didn't want to wash my hair again. (I did a week later though). Then she and Shun blew dried my hair - together they did it!! I felt like a Queen! My hair looked beautiful, and I felt great. I felt like they understood how nervous I was and they did everything the could to calm me down. These two wonderful people even called me an Uber. They stood outside with me and helped me into the car. With all my heart, I truly recommend Aimi and Shun together. When I am back in Toronto, be assured I am going to make an appointment and bring tea to say thank you!

I went to dye Nature Ashe hair color here, and the clerk said that because I had bleached my hair before, there would be a color difference between the newly grown part and the bleached part. But after it's done, I was shocked, the top half of my hair was brown, and the bottom part was green. no matter which part is completely not the color I chosed. The clerk then said that they can help me dye my hair the same brown with extra cost, are you kidding me, I pay double the price to dye a color that I don't want it at all?? If the color I choose has to be bleached for color, why don't you do that first??? The hair cutting technique is also extremely poor, after the haircut my bangs are completely untidy! Save your money and your hair, do not come to this place

Thank you Motoko :D!!! Love the red (with no bleach)

Since the move downtown, I have been adjusting to a new of everything - I have to change my family doctor, find a new yoga studio, and now... I need a reliable hairdresser. I was introduced to this Japanese hair salon, Kamiya Hairdressing, by a good friend of mine and we made appointments together to get our hairs done :) I was very impressed during my first visit. My appointment was scheduled for 3pm... we literally started around 3pm. Such punctuality - I don't know if it is a Japanese custom to always be punctual but I sincerely appreciate that! I was randomly paired with Motoko that afternoon and she was fantastic from beginning to end. She was professional and very patient with me. Her English wasn't great but I still had a pleasant time talking to her about hair, hair products, hair styles, hair care, hair everything AND about FOOD :) She is just so sweet - I love her ^^ And 3 hours later... voilà! The perfect red - I wanted it to be bright but also natural - I know I'm such a difficult client lol but she delivered. Thank you Motoko ^^ Price was very reasonable - to colour was only $80, plus $15 for wash and dry, plus tips and stuff... not bad :) The only thing I didn't like was the hair wash part... don't get me wrong, Motoko was great! But I'm on the short side, and my head/neck/body doesn't seem to fit their chair LMAO. Shorties be aware.

    Shoko (level 3 stylist)

My wife went for Keiko (a level 2 stylist). It was awesome! highly recommended (they prefer online booking). I chose Shoyo (level 3 stylist). It is hard to describe but instead of level 2, level 3 stylist does have a special skill when she cuts my hair - She twists my hair before she cuts, which is actually not very common based on my own experience. Will definitely come back again.

    The pricing guidelines

This is the first salon I've been to in the years I've been visiting salons in downtown Toronto where I have been THOROUGHLY satisfied with my haircut. I've been to Seefu Hair on Spadina (great scalp massage and a so-so hair cut), Tony Shamas on Jarvis (exorbitantly expensive and only a so-so haircut and ombre style), and a barber style salon on Church where the stylist raked his long nails torturously every time he combed through my hair :-/. I had Nana whom I assume is a director or senior stylist from the pricing of the haircut. First was the shampoo and head massage, which was relatively brief compared to other salons I've been to, but honestly not a big deal. The head rest was comfy and nails were not raking my skull so I was pretty thrilled. I'm grateful that Nana took the time to explain what could look better within my chosen hairstyle but still took into account what I requested. She really didn't seem rushed and took the time to make sure the cut was great. The salon itself seemed pretty busy, but I was able to do a walk in and get a cut within 30 mins. Final cost was $62.15 minus the tip. Definitely affordable and will definitely come back and request Nana again. Note: Reading other reviews I didn't get tea/coffee/a charger while waiting but they do have free wifi. They also do discounts on Monday/your birthday as per their website, but I didn't get a chance to take advantage of these offers.

    Cut & Ombre by Hiromi
    Genny S.

**My Favourite Hair Salon to Date** I got a cut & ombre/balayage from Hiromi and it was the best experience I've ever had at a hair salon. She cut exactly what I asked for and the colour came out better than I expected. She was so sweet and did such an excellent job. I have always had a problem with going to other salons because often they shy away from coloring my hair because it will turn into a colour I "won't" like because I have Asian hair. What I LOVE about this place is that they are very much experienced with Asian hair so they know what you're going for and will give you what you want with their knowledgeable suggestions. It also wasn't terribly expensive. I'm used to spending a lot of money at places that don't do as a great a job so this was the cherry on top to such a great experience! I will definitely be coming back in the future :)

Ash blonde fading to golden blonde by Keiko. Original hair colour was black and had to be bleached once

This was my first time going to a salon to bleach and colour my hair and it was the best experience I could have asked for! I called over the phone and was able to get a chemical consultation for the same day, and the appointment to get the services done for two days later. Keiko was my stylist and she was really friendly and sweet, and let me know what she was doing with my hair at each step. She offered me some Japanese green tea before she started. It was a 3.5 hour-long process and my hair came out exactly the way I wanted it to--a beautiful ash blonde with hints of purple fading to a golden blonde, and looks exactly like the picture that I showed her. After the colouring, she blow dried and curled my hair into a lovely style. This picture was taken directly after styling. I will definitely be coming back to this salon for future services!

I live in NY so I have a U.S. bank and wasn't able to pay the $20 deposit because I don't have e-Transfer, but I emailed the salon and they said it was no problem and not to worry about it. I was able to use my Visa credit card (they also take Mastercard) to pay. If you do pay the deposit, $20 is deducted from your total. The hair washing station is really relaxing, with lie-flat chairs so your neck doesn't hurt and sparkling lights on the ceiling. I'm so happy with my cut ($80 CAD before tip) and I think I got a great value for the level of service. I highly recommend Sam and this salon, his technique was so meticulous and I love my cut.

Our appointment was for 11 am but at 1030, Amanda text us that Bella was stuck on a GO Bus and wouldn't be able to start until 1130. Normally that's not a big issue, but I was dealing with really tight timelines because of nap times and attention spans, so I couldn't just burn 30 more minutes than expected. I explained this to Amanda, and she said if I could get there soon, she would cut my daughter's hair. The salon opens at 11, but Amanda started with us at 1045. The level of customer service was unreal. Friendly, accommodating, apologetic and I got what I came there for - a sophisticated haircut for my daughter that wasn't just a "who cares you're a kid" cut. The salon is beautiful inside, the sparkling lights about the hair washing station was a nice touch. At the very end, Bella did show up and she seemed nice as well, but Amanda really came through for us. We will be back!!

For a typical Japanese salon, I would give it 2.5 stars for the price and what I got. Came here for a haircut, maybe 3 inches to bring my hair back to above shoulder length and add some layers back to give it some shape with my fine hair. I'm used to Asian salons will have a good shampoo, head massage with the conditioner and another rinse through after the cut. Didn't get much of a massage. No 3rd rinse. It was literally 30 mins with Tomoyuki on the director level. Cut was fine. Nothing I am amazed with. Not sure if it's worth it. I think he rushed it because the customer next to me was just getting her hair rinsed out after colouring and/or treatment so he was going back to servicing her when I was done with my cut. Unlikely coming back. Some might like his speedy service though. He's polite. Just my expectations for this price I've had much better service with a decent haircut.

So I went out on a whim during the Civic holiday dialled around in Chinatown to see if I can walk in for an appointment. Let's be real, there is no day off in Chinatown. Lucky me! Jane was free on the first call, and I did not need to wait or book appointments! $22 for a women's cut with cash only! What what?!?! Remember to tip! I usually pay at least double for a haircut, and can I honestly say it's double the quality of what I get from Jane? Nope. Jane took an after pic of my haircut. I only wanted a basic B hair chop with minimal layers at the end and she nailed it. Whoops forgot to take the before pic for comparison. You'll just have to imagine the girl from the Ring, that's me, hair to my waist. Jane and I had a good chat. Her native tongue is Cantonese, and she's giving me tips on how to style my hair. She mentions now with the pandemic, her client base is much more diverse. For health and safety, she is always masked and I put on a transparent disposable salon gown. I was the only person there! Likely, people didn't know she kept the store opened on Civic holiday. The place is very spacious for one person operating the whole shop. Jane explains she operates all three chairs there and switching between chairs for the next client coming in so that the chair doesn't stay warm for the next person.
